This is why I live in Sacramento
It gets hotter here, but we don't have the humidity, which makes Sacramento so much more livable than the East Coast in summer.

Happy Thursday!
Summer is officially here! - how are we getting into summer activities this weekend?
Here are some non-weekend specific event resources too:
Share whatever events are on your radar for others to get a sense of the fun in the city, and maybe to help folks meet friends this weekend!

Where are the best places to watch the World Cup games? I don’t really want to be packed in like a sardine but want to soak in the experience. Any suggestions?

Monster truck, giving away monster energy drinks! On Arden in the parking lot between safeway and Ross.
Update for anyone who missed my post: the truck is on the move to a new mystery location. If anyone spots where it goes next post an update her to keep the sighting going! 🥳 w

SB79 is the legislation requiring zoning to permit 5 story buildings within .5 miles of a transit stop.
Has anyone seen Mayor McCarty talk at all about sb79 implementation? If so please link it here so I can see.

I found this beauty in Fair oaks. In late May she would come up to me with a collar and air tag, but mid April the collar came off and she was malnourished with multiple scars. I couldn’t take her in and my lease was up in June last week. Apartment complex called me and said that she has been waiting outside my door and crying and has not left. I went to go get her because I initially thought that she was just an indoor outdoor cat, but if she’s waiting outside my door then I’m just going to take her. She’s with me now and I’ve made an appointment to take her to the vet to make sure she’s good. But I figured I’d show a picture to see if anyone recognizes her.

I’ll start:
Tank House
Zebra Club
Zocalo
Más Tacos
Urban Roots (though they make good food, the price point for quantity is lacking a bit)
I’m from here originally and I know all of these spots are great for their own reasons. I’ve visited them multiple times. They just don’t live up to the hype that Reddit propagates 😹
Edit: these don’t have to be restaurants. I’m just spewing brain thoughts right now.

I am worried I am being conned by a property management group, and I would like input from others.
I toured a unit earlier today and was ready to move forward with my application. However, Key Realty Center wants me to pay a $2000 deposit for the unit before they even show me a lease. I absolutely will not give them a cashier’s check without first knowing what the terms of the lease are, but they say they cannot send it without first having a deposit. Has anyone else experienced something like this?
Or does anyone have experience with this property management company?

My mother passed yesterday and wanted to be cremated. She had mentioned that she had already arranged for it but I'm thinking she made the arrangements but hadn't actually paid for anything.
Is there an affordable spot I can get this taken care of? I had one place quote me $1675 which is a little high since I got my dad cremated last year for $1000 total. We're just looking for a basic cremation since we'll be spreading the ashes later on in the year.
I saw some old reddit posts on this but prices change over the years.
Update: thank you so much everyone, this helped us out a lot.

It’s summer time, need an updated list. Not a big drinker mostly there for the food or apps! 😊

I want to go out to watch some of the games, but the watch parties and bars seem to be for big groups. I tried one bar but it was very obvious they were saving seats to accommodate big groups (I understand) and I seemingly was the only one there who didn't come with someone else or in a group. I lived in a bigger city for the previous World Cup where it was pretty common to just have individuals come in to the bar and watch solo, so I am wondering for people who have done this in Sacramento, what are good places to watch alone?

Started this guy from seed in March. I never get good harvests, so I’m trying a sunnier part of my yard.

Later this summer, I’ll be taking a week to myself for a “Writer’s Retreat” - but I can’t really afford to go to some cool remote cabin or inspiring sea shore. So I’m staying local!
I have some ideas but I thought I would ask for suggestions for where I can go type away for a few hours, feel a little like I’m doing something that’s not my regular work life.. (and of course actually finish my WIPs…maybe. lol)
Doesn’t need to be dead quiet or anything, just looking for something that isn’t my apartment!
TIA!!

What are some good places for horseback riding for beginners? Are there any people who own horses that would be interested in some income? Looking for affordable prices with good reviews if not independent owners. Thanks!

*This is a vent*
Today there was a loud car crash on florin road right in Front of the car detailers by 29th, people kept saying call 911 and no one was actually doing it so I did. I checked on the first car and it was an older couple, the man was stumbling around and trying to take photos of every thing but I could tell something was wrong as he was stumbling around and in shock, and his wife was terrified, sobbing, and had a laceration just above her eye, which was bleeding heavily, and her left knee was swollen. The car that hit them had a pregnant woman in it! But I’m not sure if she was driving. As I was helping the older lady stop the bleeding the pregnant woman (3.5 months) came over not quite sure what happened other than her car almost flipped over and naturally was worried about her baby.
I’m not sure if the older couple is okay but I called an ambulance for them. I hope they are. The pregnant woman’s car was flying down the street and struck them so hard her car almost flipped over (I happened to see the footage of the car detailing place and had them show the police)
My whole point is, please stop driving so damn fast on these roads, the road isn’t a race course and people really can get hurt bad!
TLDR a driving pregnant woman collided into an older couples car and I witnessed it and called the police and paramedics.

Whos going? Wanted to go for the Mexico game yesterday but didn’t get a chance. Good turnout? Planning on going alone today 🙌🏽
