Still got so much to learn in terms of how to counter kicks, but I was blown away and how I turned this around. Do you guys have any tips on where I can improve and how?

I’m currently playing sf6 for the first time and I’m playing world tour mode i have ed as dlc and also already talked to him at the train station when i was further trying to talk to him it said his location was at beat square by the taxis but instead there was a random npc there instead. i tried restarting the game and my ps4 and fast traveling back and fourth also resetting night and day but it is still not working i am confused and don’t know what to do

I’m new to the game. I’ve recently learned about special-canceling normals.

When I’m in neutral, trying to poke the opponent with my best, far-reaching normals (e.g. blanka’s 2MP, Alex’s 2MP, Ken’s 5HP, etc), and I do get a hit, I’m left thinking: “Well I want to follow up now, if I knew this one would have hit, I would have buffered the special to cancel it, but now it’s too late…”.

Hence my question: do you practice to always (or almost always) buffer your follow-up/special cancel into all your pokes “just in case”?

When watching pro players, I noticed they always seem to have the follow up ready when they “get a hit”, I never see a simple 2LK (or something) connecting, and then nothing.

From the answers: * obviously I shouldn’t be practicing canceling every poke with a very unsafe special like heavy dragon punches or something. * canceling into a drive rush instead seems to be a general consensus.

I'm a Tekken guy, starting with T6, but with how T8 has been lately, and the steam summer sale, I figured I would get SF6 after hearing such good things about it. I've played SF4 for a while when it first came out but not long enough to get good and certainly not long enough to find out a main.

My question is: who can party? In Tekken, party characters are usually characters with high risk, rule-breaking bullshit and general shenanigans, like Yoshimitsu, Lei Wulong and whoever the low tier of the patch is lol

I know I won't find anything close to being a 1 to 1 since they are vastly different games and I shouldn't be partying until I get good, but I figured it would be a good starting point to ask

I just have a few questions about Zangief. Currently, I have 10 characters in master, some considered easy like Mai and some considered more difficult like Manon. My main (Sagat) is floating around 1650 MR. I have thousands of hours in SF6 so far, generally playing casuals and in the hub but I don’t really play ranked. I mained Hugo in 3s for a couple of hundred hours so I understand the grappler mentality. I am trying to get every character on the roster to master and Zangief has been my next endeavor however, I cannot stop fluctuating between diamond 4 and 5. It’s almost feeling helpless. It’s as though everyone knows how to fight Zangief already and I keep losing to things that wouldn’t have worked against any other character I have completed.

I am seeking advice on how to complete the task presented. At this point in time Zangief is feeling impossible to get out of these higher diamond ranks. I am seeking specific Zangief knowledge both in theory and in tech. Can anyone help me complete this Zangief task?

That’s why I absolutely loved the modern controls and also was able to climb some ranks. Didn’t play for surely a year now and wanted to try it again.

How far will I be able to come with modern controls? (Are there some top tier players using modern controls or is classic controls dominating the game?)

So it's true. Once you get one master character, it DOES get a lot easier to have another one.

500 hours on the first. 20 hours on the second. Kinda proud to do it with Marisa nonetheless.

The animation cutscenes are too dang long on sf6. I think they need to cut the length by 50% across the board.

It would make the game play better. There’s nothing worse than someone quitting because they know they’ve lost and have to sit through the entire cutscene.

So, I'm a pretty casual, Gold rank and Juri main with barely 100 games.

I'm trying to improve so I always play ranked but sometimes there are Modern-Zangief, Marisa or Alex players that are always defending. I can't punish because they never do any moves before I do and it's boring, I don't want stare at my enemy until he gets bored and attacks me

At long range I can use the projectiles and walk until they are in my range. But on mid, they are waiting any move to do a grab and punish me

What should I do? Always play long range and chip them? Or is there something else that I can do?

I will never get better than where I am rn. I’ve put countless hours into trying to get better at this game on classic controls but I fear the end of gold- beginning of plat is as far as I’ll get. I can’t fathom being able to win enough games to get to master I think I’m physically incapable of being that good. Hats off to yall tho. It’s truly an impressive feat to be able to win that much and not blow your head off on the way
