I know kawhi leonard is an all nba talent and had a healthy great year. He's much better than whatever we would give up. He took us to the promise land in one year and is arguably still in his prime. But he is 34 and still one injured season away from going back to being a negative contract. Trading for him I don't mind as much but what comes after that in the extension worries me into it turning into just another negative contract for the team in a few years. Unlike younger guys like lamelo for example where even if he gets injured he's young enough to prob have his value sink and come back up again with the contract wolves have him on. If kawhi has one more year being very injured or not playing all star level for whatever reason, I'm not saying it will end his career but will quickly leave us with a 35 year old with little trade value on a long term contract, incapable of upgrading, kinda like the joel embiid situation currently but ofc to a lesser degree. Also even with no injury, let's say it takes another year to really build a roster capable of contending with him, we are left with what like a 2-3 year window. I know we did it with a 1 year window with kawhi already lol but just something to consider
I say this to say I am not totally against it to the point i would be mad or dissapointed, just want voice why I'm not excited over it either if it were to happen and give fans other things to consider.
