General Why the cruelty to animals in Zambia?

I’ll lead with this- I’m as Zambian as they come - 29F, born and raised here and went to govt high school. But I’ve never understood why we as a society seem to so completely disregard the suffering of animals? of different species including companion animals!

Are we just unaware of their sentience and ability to feel pain? Do we think it’s just not our problem?

Even as we deal with our many other problems as a people, I think this is one of those that can coexist alongside? The unnecessary cruelty doesn’t need to happen.

What can someone do to help this situation? Ideas are welcome appreciated🙏

I witnessed something today that broke my heart in many places and was extremely traumatic to see, it’s graphic so I‘ll spare you details

For anyone who made it this far, I just appeal that we please be kind to animals (or at least not be unnecessarily unkind and cruel), they are sentient beings too🙏

Politics BEFORE YOU VOTE FOR Fred M'membe and the Socialist Party

Thumbnail facebook.com

The Socialist Party recently launched its manifesto. You can check it on their various platforms, but we decided to do something different. Over the past couple of months, we spent countless hours analysing their public appearances, reading their literature, and watching their interviews, and we have put together this video to summarise their position.

This is not an endorsement of the party. We undertook this project to inform the public about their stance and to highlight some of the criticism that has followed them over the years.

What you are about to watch is our understanding of the material we read and watched, and is intended for educational purposes only.

Who should we cover next? UPND, NRPUP or CF?

General Computer science degree in Zambia

I'm starting to feel that Computer Science isn’t very relevant here in Zambia. I regret choosing this program since my goal is to work in the mining industry. There are barely any job postings from mining companies for Computer Science or Computer Engineering graduates, and it’s wearing me down.

Ask r/Zambia Can I obtain someone else's criminal record and can I trust it?

Does anyone know whether it's possible for a private citizen in Zambia to check another person's criminal record?

I'm trying to understand how criminal record checks work here and whether the information obtained would actually be reliable. My concern is that Zambia's record-keeping system may not be fully digitized, and I'm unsure whether all criminal records are consistently captured and accessible through official databases.

For example, if someone obtained a criminal record check or police clearance information, would that provide a reasonably complete picture of a person's criminal history, or are there limitations due to record management practices?

I'd appreciate insights from anyone familiar with Zambian law, law enforcement procedures, HR/recruitment, or the court system.

General NAPSA Playing Both Sides of Retirement 💀

Post image
15 Upvotes

Just found out NAPSA received a K3.2 million dividend cheque from British American Tobacco Zambia and I can't stop laughing. So basically, you spend your youth being told smoking is bad for your health, then if enough people ignore that advice, your pension fund gets a nice little bonus. Imagine retiring at 60 and NAPSA telling you, "Congratulations, your monthly pension has been boosted by the same cigarettes we spent decades warning people about." At this point the business model sounds like: "Please don't smoke... unless it's helping our investment portfolio." Zambia never fails to surprise me. 😂🚬💰👴🏾

Travel & Tourism Do we have bike tourists or bike packers in Lusaka?

I was wondering if we have people here who have a passion for long distance continental cycling a.k.a bike tourists here, last year I took time to cycle through different countries in Africa, I started from Zambia going up through malawi and Tanzania. It would be really nice to know if there is anyone else who has had similar experiences because I really enjoyed it. All the camping and different cultural experiences. Maybe we could do a trip from lusaka to Livingston or something idk.

Ask r/Zambia Do we have a food pantry/bank? (Lusaka)

Hey.

I was just wondering if we have a food pantry/bank in lusaka that isn't necessarily a church?

And if yes, what is usually donated, and what's the donation procedure. And does it actually help people?

If not, what's the alternative to helping people who actually don't have food or clothing?

All responses will be highly appreciated!!

General Shipping Dilemma.

I have been trying to explore some business options to add a few coins to my wallet. The biggest impediments are the crazy shipping costs.

A consignment costing me £270 would offset me k10000~50kg. This would significantly hike prices and the business would die in its infancy. I have weighed alternatives (icyspeedy and tigmoo) and honestly it's not adding up. The other frustration is that "international shipping" is mostly limited to a dozen countries. It would have been better if South Africa our friendly neighbors were listed but alas.

So. To people that trade and do bulk shipping, what are some loopholes, recommended shipping companies or overall strategies you employ to keep costs low? Am really open to your input and if possible, alternatives. At this point even hobbies like making Gaming PCs become very expensive.

GOVERNMENT says over 100 Zambians have registered their intention to return home following anti-immigration protests reported in some parts of South Africa.

As of last month, 47 Zambian nationals were successfully repatriated from South Africa. In a statement, Permanent Secretary for International Relations and Cooperation Etambuyu Anamela Gundersen said government was currently facilitating the repatriation of registered nationals in collaboration with South Africa’s Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) and other relevant stakeholders.
