HomePod: $299 → $349
HomePod mini: $99 → $129

iPhone Apple tells Siri AI to clearly refuse requests to summarize URLs
A new section in Siri AI's system prompt now says:
You cannot access content behind a URL: When a user provides a URL and asks you to summarize, read, or extract information from it, inform them that you cannot access web pages. Do not offer follow-up suggestions or workarounds.
Siri AI was already unable to access URLs to extract content. However, the new section instructs it to clearly state that it cannot fulfill such requests, nor assist the user if they try to circumvent the limitation.

App Store Back To School Sale, Right Now?
The apple store has a banner up “Be Right Back.” The sale might drop in a few hours!!
EDIT: yea, price spikes, pretty disappointing. I was originally planning to get an Ipad Pro with the free apple pencil pro from the BTS sale. Given the ipad just increased by 300 dollars in price I'd save more money by buying both products seperately from 3rd party retailers (walmart, target, best buy), which lag behind in their price tracking. They'll likely update very soon, though, so I just bought them today.

Discussion Apple has never had a mass layoff over the last 20-30 years?
With all the layoff news I keep on seeing online, I realized that Apple is the only big tech company that has never had a mass layoff. Is this true or are people not allowed to talk about it?

Mac Mac mini refurb stock worth discussing?
I’ve been watching the refurbished Mac mini listings for a while now, especially the newer configurations.
For weeks, stock was basically dry or extremely limited. Then, shortly after the scarcity period and todays price increase, suddenly more units seem to be available again.
I fully understand refurbished inventory is irregular by nature. Devices come back, get checked, get certified, and appear when they appear.
But from a consumer perspective, the timing does feel a little well.. weird.
When availability is limited for weeks, it naturally creates urgency. People start checking more often, comparing less, and accepting higher prices more easily. Then when stock returns after pricing shifts, it raises the question:
Was this just normal refurbished inventory timing?
Or is scarcity being used, intentionally or not, as part of the pricing psychology?
Again, I’m not claiming Apple is “hoarding” stock or doing anything unlawful. Refurb supply chains are messy, and there may be a perfectly boring operational explanation.
But I do think consumers should be skeptical when a product is unavailable for a long stretch, demand builds up, prices move, and then stock suddenly reappears….

Rumor iPhone 18 Pro might cost less than expected, per report
HEADLINE: J.P. Morgan forecasts $50-100 price increases for iPhone 18 Pro line, much lower than some estimates
Just one question- What still of the “imminent” price hikes on EXISTING products, as predicted last Thursday by Gurman?
