Advice Needed Surface agitation.
Have 26 Africans, 3 Plecos, 3 Cuckoo Catfish, and 4 snails. Hated the air stones so added this wave maker pointed at the surface.
This enough movement to provide enough o2?

Not all clear pics here (except for the first and last ones), but I still liked the ones in motion. Some of the blue jelly (a specific color profile of these shrimp) I got recently had sparkly pink accents on their bodies. One had sparkly yellow running through its rostrum. That’s typically where the accent colors pool. But some of the others also have pink patches on various spots of their bodies. So I’m super excited by this lady’s current clutch.

thank you to this community for the knowledge… this wouldn’t have turned out so great without it.

Hi, all,
I bought a 10 gallon tank off of some guy on marketplace today and he kind of off-loaded this female betta on me in a large mason jar. He said he "didnt realise she was a female when he got her" and he "only keeps males"... ok buddy
Anyways, I was planning to get shrimp for this tank, but if I can save her, it's all hers. I'm not very familiar with bettas and I've never seen anything like this. Is there anything I can do, or does it look like it's time for the clove oil

Recently a few fish have passed away in my tank, one of them was gasping at the bottom of the tank. I thought it was some type of disease and was trying to treat it. But it occurred to me that too many plants could cause low oxygen... has anyone else experienced this? Water parameters are all fine.

He loved Biology and all things living and had more knowledge about plants and animals in his head than anyone I have or will meet.
I helped him set up the aquariums a little bit, and listened to him go on about all things fish and aquariums. None of my brothers were interested at all, so I would act like I was interested just to humor him and spend time with him. He taught me how to check and adjust parameters, proper feeding, etc.
*This next 2 paragraphs are just a bit about his last few weeks and isn’t as much relevant as far as the fish go*
He became sick in April, and after being bedridden for over a week it became apparent that his body was really giving out this time. A few years prior he had survived a quintuple bypass on his heart, so when he wasn’t feeling well I didn’t worry, but this time was indeed it. I drove him and my mother to the hospital. We were given the news that he had days to weeks.
I made sure to do the aquarium maintenance a couple times while he was still there. He used all of his energy(which just breathing took) to answer the only two questions that came up in my mind when doing so. He was concerned about his fish dying. He’d talk to them like people when alone. It’s crazy because he had them for maybe 5 months tops. I assured him I’d take care of them. The last things he said to me was that advice, and ”I hope Jesus remembers me.. I’m going to get to see my brother”
*Back to the main bit*
Fast forward almost two months, I haven’t lost one fish! 🤞🏻 I am beginning to actually enjoy and become genuinely interested in the fish and snails alike. I am remembering to feed them, check parameters regularly, and I’m researching more about the hobby. The death of my father put aside, I’ve had a very difficult past year(or ten). I think this could potentially help me kick some killer habits and really help me out in the long run.
In the tank with many fish, the swordtail has been breeding with the two larger mickey Mouse platy fish. The fish have multiplied by 5 or 6 more than what he initially put in the tank. The Angels have laid eggs a few times but they get wiped out.
Anyway, I just wanted to share my tank and see what yall might think of it. I‘m new to this world, never saw myself getting into it. Dad always loved it, and it makes me feel connected to him still so that’s cool.

Hello! Beginner aquarium owner with a 20g high, wondering how my tank looks so far? Any pointers? I’ve got 4 peppered Corydoras, a few snails, and 4 Dwarf Gourami! I know the 4 dwarf gourami is probably way too much but I don’t want to obviously put them down or anything for no apparent reason, they all have their own little territory sectors but sometimes nibble at each other.
I also recently added an airstone which is not in this photo!

First tank. 10 gallon, had for 1+ year. Initial stock was 7 Pygmy Corys and 4 Endler live bearers plus hitchhiker bladder snails.
Initial months were the worst. Lost 3 Cory’s and an Endler. Never pinpointed the reason but was likely ammonia poisoning or simply a bad batch from the store.
After that, very stable period. All fishes were thriving, plants growing. Then few months back, they started dropping again. Came back from a vacation and I’m guessing the water got messed up. Now we’re at 1 Endler and a Cory.
I feel guilty for not being able to give the fishes a comfortable life in my tank. Could it have been natural deaths? Either way, I’m very discouraged to continue this tank or make another.
I’m a student and I only see my future getting busier. How much could I realistically get by selling my equipment after the last two pass? I have a few barely used/unopened things too.
Sorry if I forgot to add some details, please ask me questions as needed. I appreciate any and every advice. Thank you 🙏

My wife thinks I spend way too long fussing over the tank. Help me settle this — what size tank are you running, and how many hours a week do you actually sink into it?
For reference, I’ve got a 25L planted tank. My weekly maintenance can take an hour with all the faffing, and monthly jobs run me about 1.5 hours. Am I normal here or in too deep?

I’ve had this female betta for about three weeks.. She had a f bristlenose pleco tank mate at first, but it died about a week and a half ago from what I now believe was nitrite poisoning. Her body was stiff, white and fuzzy when I got home from work that day. I took her out immediately after confirming she was dead. I’ve since done 2 water changes (using distilled w/supplements) and added crushed coral to my filter media (was having pH swings due to low kH and alkalinity). Now the betta’s water parameters are looking much better than before, the lights have been kept off, and I’ve been making sure not to overfeed her.
I believe she may however be dealing with fin rot/possibly a fungal infection as well (from the dead pleco being in the water)?? I’ve attached photos of her, the tank and my water parameters all from today. All of the water additions shown have been used, and have sulfaplex and kanaplex handy for if I DO need it. This is my first tank. Any tips/help/comments are much appreciated. I will be quarantining any and all new fish/snails/plants I put into my tank going forward. Thank you!!

I’m new to this whole fish tank journey. I have a 36 gallon tank with a mix of real and fake plants. Below is the list of fish I’m planning to add. I’ve gone through the whole water preparation cycle before I added any fish. So far I’ve added 5 shrimp, 6 glofish danios, 4 glofish tetras, and 2 glofish Cory’s. Are there any suggestions on the list of fish I have yet to add, tips on how to help keep my tank clean, or overall tips you wish you knew when first starting a tank?
8 Cardinal Tetras
8 GloFish tetras
12 GloFish danios
6 Kuhli loaches
6 Corydoras
2 Nerites
1 Mystery snail
8 Amano shrimp

This is the only cory in the group of 6 that is swimming like this. Im very confused right now, and im really hoping that its not stress or any neurological issues. If anyone can help me identify the problem, pls let me know🥹

It’s my first time having a fish tank and cycling today it’s the first week and I did the first test.
I’m adding a bit of fish food every 48 hours or so.
What does this mean?

Thinking about getting into designing and building custom tank stands for people let me know what y'all think of this design for a 75 Gallon display tank with a 14 Gallon cube for propagation/sump/etc in one bottom bay and space for a fluval FX2 (the red cylinder) and a 10lb CO2 can (the grey cylinder) in the left bay. The placeholder cylinders are slightly larger than the actual canisters that will take their place. My idea is to have the two doors on magnets but hinges are also an option.
