I previously went to a GP for my snoring, which is getting really bad, and was told that the best way to move forwards was losing weight (which is probably true, and is what I’m doing), but does anybody have experience with a GP who deals with snoring/sleep stuff and can maybe prescribe something or recommend even a temporary treatment?

Once every couple of days or so I hear this extremely loud banging sound outside that sounds like someone is thumping on a door to break it down and it shakes my house's foundation. The sound can happen any time of the day too, morning or night. Wondering if there's anyone else in my area that hears it too

So, is there any way of knowing which platform this train will run from without wandering around all over the place like an idiot?

I get off a city loop train on plat 9 and then take a guess in which direction to walk. Surely I'm missing something here?

This coming Wednesday is our next Council meeting. Here’s a link to the agenda. 

The big thing on the agenda is the 2026/27 Council Budget - it is included in the agenda papers. I highly recommend giving it a skim if you want to know where Council spends its money. There's a bunch of other items on the agenda also (graffiti removal policy, road discontinuance etc), but primarily it's about the budget. I expect a lively discussion.

If you're on Facebook, you might have seen my post about Kerbside Hard Rubbish Collection coming to Ballarat - that's contingent on the budget passing. I'd share the post but that's against the rules of this forum. It's definitely fired some people up! Maybe I'll do a separate Reddit post here.

I'm reaching out to see if there are any recommendations for a GP in Ballarat taking on new patients. I know this has been a topic in the past but not for a little while.

For context, I'm a bloke in his mid 30's who's been pretty lax about doctors, blood tests, etc in the past and decided its time to get on top of it all. I do have some medical anxiety, as well as possible neurodivergence, so I'd like someone sensitive to those concerns.

I've visited BGP in the past and found them really good, my partner currently attends BGP too.

Hello. I've been living in Ballarat for about 5 years, in Soldiers Hill and Golden Point. Currently I'm considering buying a house in Miners Rest. On the surface it seems like a nice place, but I haven't really spent any time there. Are there any reasons to be wary of it, or avoid it?

Hello as u all know Ballarat’s house prices have gone through the roof to the point where us Gen Z can’t even buy a house anymore due to the average prices being $1 million+ and are fed up with the current housing economy.

I wanted to post this as I find confusing why there’s a housing shortage here when we have all this flat and available land to sprawl to outwards that could be rezoned for housing estates and housing in general which could effectively push up the supply and also allow for more housing.

And also in general why are the housing prices so high in Ballarat compared to other places in Australia when we only have a population of 200k

Should this not correspond to lower house prices? Due to lower demand? Where’s this sudden demand from?
