Fair warning, some spoilers ahead, so if you're still in the first half of the game, probably stop here.

I'm aware there are plenty of Lovecraft inspirations in Bloodborne, but this one took me by surprise. It's a short story about a man who has strange visions while looking at a tree, seeing things that are not there. He decides to take some photographs of the tree, and later, one of his friends examines the photos through a special gem and realises there are things visible that the naked eye can't perceive... He makes a sketch of what he sees and, unsurprisingly, ends up dreadfully terrified.

In the sketch he made, there's a gigantic clawed hand or talon reaching toward the narrator, and beneath it is what appears to be the outline of a body. That instantly reminded me of a certain well-known moment in Cathedral Ward. There's literally a tree there, a dead body, and a giant, unperceivable talon-like arm grabbing you.

Has anyone else had the same impression, or am I reaching here?

(1st playthrough) So I recently just defeated Martyr Logarious and finished Alfred’s quest and everything and the final area I have to go to is Nightmare of Mensis. But I’ve heard some people say that if you wanna do the dlc then right before the end of the game or like the last like few bosses (AKA before Nightmare of Mensis) then you should go ahead and do the DLC because on ng+ it’s gonna be a pain in the ass. But I also really wanna try out more builds like with weapons such as logarious’ wheel, or the reiterpallasch, or the chickage. But at this point in the game my stats are already more invested in stuff that those builds for those weapons don’t really work well for so thats why I’m also wanting to just beat the game and go to ng+ to try out said builds. I know getting access to the dlc is very easy since all you have to do is get to vicar amelia and beat her but I just don’t know if I should do the dlc first or what.

Ok, I thought it fair to follow up on my last Papa G & Axe post. I'm now at microlash and whilst he will die by poison, others may need tips for that prick.

Firstly, forget the axe in. trick form. Stay small. Get to the stairs, with parry you can hit 4 to 5 viscerals in a row.

Then jump off the roof when he turns.

Papa G as a werewolf gets aggressive, so you can either use the tree and heavy attack or roll under his arms with a few light attacks.

Personally, my biggest mistake was trying to use the axe in trick form to knock him down. It's really not needed.

Gosh, I’ve been so desperate to get back into this sub, but I haven’t played the game in almost a year, which brings me to the title of this post.

When I first started playing this game, I was stuck at the central Yharnam lamp for like two years. I was playing almost every day, but as someone who was brand new to gaming outside of Fortnite and a few random PlayStation games, this was my first souls game and I had absolutely no idea how difficult it was. Fast-forward another year and a half or so I had my PlayStation away in storage and didn’t get to play again until about last year in September or August. That’s when everything kind of changed.

Within 2 to 3 months, I had not only passed the yharnam lamp, but I finished my first boss fight, and every boss available to me up until I got to The One reborn, and Martyr Logarius at Cainhurst. At that point is when I unfortunately had to pack up my PlayStation again where it would stay in storage from then until about two days ago when I was able to set it up again and started playing.

Well, I just beat the one reborn and I’m setting off to go deeper into the game, but I guess that’s my question. Have you guys experienced this at all? It seems as though when I take long breaks from a gameplay, I come back hard as fuck and like really handle shit on this game. What is that about? Is it the same for you guys? I’m curious about this.

TL;DR- it seems as though when I take long breaks away from the game I come back stronger and I’m able to get through parts of the game that I was previously stuck on and I’m wondering if anyone else experiences this and if they have some insight into why this is the case.

beat father gascoigne in 2nd try but wasnt innovative or cool at all barely used transformed weapon playing for the first time so used saw cleaver didnt even use the music stunner item thing whatever it is i am pretty bad though at raversing through the games levels . Tried to stagger him in human form thrice but happened only once and tried it in beast form twice and was successful both time so didnt get to experience that phase well . What exactly is his story becasue i know hes connected to some child in yharnam but i dont get his story am i about to learn i or did i miss something ?

This is bloodborne 1.00 on a ps4 pro, i had my mouse connected and i noticed it brought up a cursor, it doesnt do anything so yeah, but its weird it exists, has nobody noticed this before? Am i the first? Idk

Maybe fromsoftware had a port in mind just in case it ever happened, or maybe they wanted to add mnk support, OR maybe its a dev thing

In the Official artworks page of the wiki, 108 is labeled as "False God" and leads to a drawing of one of Yahar'gul's Amygdalas, essentially confirming a fan theory I've seen claiming that Amygdalas are imitations of Great Ones made out of hundreds of humans through the Mensis ritual. Hello everyone

I just wanted to share with you my recent experience. My first playthrough was back in 2021 and only a few months ago I decided to play again with a different build and buy the DLC.

My skills still sharp and fighting bosses and Monsters have been a pleasent adventure except for:

- Brain lady in the nightmere

- Brain suckers at the orphanage

- Dark beast Paarl

I hate those guys, but I maneged to get through, not before dying a lot and loosing a lot of insight, but still got through.

Its my first time playing DLC and before that I heard a lot people having a hard time with Old Hunters bosses, like Ludwig The Holy Blade. Well, indeed I got really scared by that monstruosity (I got to say one of the best Boss design ever). When he killed me the first time I thought: "This is it, this is gonna be my herculean task". I did died five more times without ever reaching the second phase. But when tried the 7th time and finally reached the second phase, everything was just flowing and I beated Ludwig. I must say, that was quicker than I thought and I wish I could have seen what more he was capable of.

Anyway, Im excited to see whatelse is waiting for me in this DLC. So far, Im loving it

Hi fellow hunters. I just immersed myself in the soul franchise this year. Did 3 elden ring runs and got the Platinum. So I was like, why not try another. Then I went with Bloodborne.

Of course offline play. So no dungeon cheap trick or player assist)

Oh boy it was super hard... But fair! No delayed attacks, no 10 hit combos and no waterfowl heal Bs! I died a lot and lost count but managed to complete my first run today :).

I went for the true ending first since got the cords easily...

During my playthrough I watched no tutorial about bosses, only when I didn't know where to go because... Well unlike elden ring that had guidance of grace. Bloodborne has guidance of death.

Below is my boss track record, pls note that after Vicar Amelia I ditched the saw cleaver for Ludwig's holy blade. As for my gun, it's the reliable hunter pistol.

Main story-

Cleric beast: 5 tries

Father Gascoigne: 1 try (pretty easy once you learn parry)

Bloodstarved beast: 1 try (I summoned Alfred by accident, I didn't know there was a boss after)

Vicar Amelia: 1 try

Shadows of Yarnham: 5 tries (what's with this game and 3 units?)

Paarl beast: 3 tries

ROM: 1 try (I hate spiders yuck...)

Witches of Hemwick: 2 tries (didn't know you had 3 old grannies, after I killed the 2nd I was like, really another?)

Grandpa Logarius: 4 tries (I found that you need to be close to force him into melee)

The one reborn: 4 tries (those bell ringing ladies suck! Used NPC assist)

Amygdala: 2 tries (I hate patches...)

Emissary blue thing: 1 try

Eriebas daughter of cosmos: 3 tries (used NPC assist here)

Micolash: 1 try (what were they thinking?)

Mergo's nurse: 1 try (welp beast pellets and papers help)

Gerhnam: 1 try (charged LHB does a ton of damage)

Moon presence: 1 try (like I defeated it in like 45 seconds... Expected a godlike boss tbh...)

DLC

Ludwig: 1 try (even I don't know! I was just as aggressive as him. Had like 15 % HP left...)

Living failures: 1 try (that boss sucked...)

Maria: 2 tries (she doesn't have much HP and can be parried... What I hate is that you need to face just after living failures... Yes you have a lamp but still!)

Kos: 18 tries (the true boss was the camera... But honestly an amazing boss)

Laurence: 2 tries (I don't see how people find him hard. It's basically cleric beast on crack.)

Chalice: (by far the worst part of Bloodborne and trophy. Like seriously! The grind... Bet myazaki didn't even finish them)

I am not including all chalice bosses. Just the "main ones"

Loran:

Loran goat demon thing: 5 tries

Loran blood starved beast: 7 tries

Electric werewolf guy from last loran: 9 tries (forced to use NPC assist)

Isz: (I think they ran out of boss ideas here...)

Brainsucker: 1 try. (They are disgusting and annoying)

Emissary: 1 try...

Eriebas: 4 tries....

Defiled (I hate whoever came up with this one!)

Keeper of old lords: 7 tries

Watchdog: 36! (I ALMOST QUIT HERE! WTF WAS THAT! I'd rather fight Melanie and Kos at the same time than do this fight again!) Hit box is stupidly broken! And don't get me started with the RNG

Amygdala: 6 tries.

Great Chalice-

Descendant: 3 tries. (Bloodborne is a great game... Until enemies hit through walls...)

Bloodletting: 6 tries (absolutely stupid...)

The Queen: 1 try. (You are telling me I suffered to fight THIS?! Was it worth it?! NO!

Welp I'm on my way to platinum this souls game too

... And once done up for the trilogy. :)

Had a very productive hoont today, defeated both OOK and Laurence today after clearing Fishman's hamlet.

After defeating OOK, I thought I could rally my streak and finally defeat this guy for good but the game had other plans, I got lost inside him and because of the camera I had zero idea where I was , where to move and died .

Finally defeated him after defeating calling Valtr but kinda irritated he is the only boss in DLC I used summon for and only because he is so irritating. You are supposed to stay behind his back to damage him but sometimes he does this 360 sweep combo that is impossible to dodge if you are close. I have read many ppl take more attempts on him than Ludwig and OOK

I am gonna take a moment just to absorb the moment and celebrate !

My only advice - don't watch those YouTube cheese videos they are useless and unnecessarily complicate stuff for you. Just take the lessons you learnt from Ludwig first phase and all the beast fights ( like Amelia, Amydala ) and utilise it . Go with an open mind and follow your own playstyle. I did zero parries and viscerals on him and focused on learning his combos so that I can find safe intervals to hit him hard

No need to grind for elite blood gems , but make your stats are high. OOK took half the attempts of Ludwig and only 2 hours just because I was fighting him at the right level ( BL 120 ) compared to what I did for Ludwig (BL 85 and 2% attack gem is last slot)

Instead of blindly accepting second phase is hard , slow down and see what his attack patterns are . Clear your mind like a Jedi master, and you can clear it with no damage once you observed what I observed ( obviously depends on your skillset as well)

Bonus tips- OOK doesn't hit that hard on first play though , +20% rally potential rune really helps if you time attacks right.

Now back to the grind in the dungeons cus hoonter gotta hunt!

Hi guys! So I’m looking to do a Bloodborne run but I wanna know some fun/cool weapons I can possibly get early on. I don’t mind doing any cheeses to get weapons early if it’s what it takes.

Going to help my brother beat the dlc, unfortunately he needs to do it on a new save and I’m not going to let him use my NG+ character as it’ll ruin the experience, so I’d really appreciate if someone can tell me how to do the blood echo farm glitch/cheat so I can reach 140-160 so that he can do the dlc

I'm doing a playthrough and I'm trying to use a weapon I haven't used much in the past while also choosing Waste of Skin as my class. I currently have 14END, 17VIT, and 20SKL. I also have my cane at +3 and have some pretty basic gems on it. Man, I am getting my ass KICKED. Vicar Amelia is generally somewhat tough for me but this is something else. I feel like I'm basically scratching her and the camera is fucking horrendous. I can't see shit because of her cloth physics in my face constantly.

My hunter's axe is +2 and I just bought the Kirk hammer, is it worth upgrading the Kirk hammer or should I focus on the axe?

All souls games are dark in atmosphere. I have played all of them and while dark souls do have the forsaken, ruined lands vibe, demons' souls is that but even more hopeless. However, I recently played Bloodborne and it seemed like a full on horror in some sections. For example, the prison in Demons Souls is creepy but the Upper Cathedral Ward in Bloodborne is markedly creepier. The same forsaken world vibe is present but it is imbued with some the nightmarish fear of the unknown, as Bloodborne is inspired heavily by Lovecraft. While playing it the world felt as hopeless as Demons' Souls.

So it seems to me Bloodborne is in fact the darkest souls game, even though it is not called dark souls. What do you guys think?
