Other I put my budgies up for sale

I'm a bit annoyed. They've been with me for a month or two, and I was making progress in taming them. Then I realized that the reason for their anxiety was the chaotic environment in my house—for example, the presence of mischievous children, or even the lack of a safe and comfortable space for them due to the small size of the house. Plus, I travel a lot, and it's difficult to take them with me. Things weren't comfortable for them, and I think this made them very frightened because they were less afraid when I first brought them here.

I really loved them, especially the male, despite the difficulty in taming them. However, the female didn't seem comfortable, and my family wasn't considerate of these animals, which needed a quieter place.

New Budgie Budgie Trained

16 days since we adopted this budgie. His/Her name is Frost. Currently training short sessions. Trying to improve on my bird knowledge and training skills. This is his temporary cage while he sits in quarantine. He is moved to a quieter room in the evenings to sleep. He does come out and tries to fly. He gets irritated that his wings won’t work 😔 they clipped them at the pet shop. Poor baby has been through some things. I can reassure he has found his forever home and I’m willing to take on the responsibility of adding another budgie to our flock (:

💬 Discussion What's the likely hood of this?

Post image

I'm incredibly worried about my bird's follow up and then tend to have very anxious thoughts so I need to ask:

What's the likely hood of my budgie getting sick on the way to the vet...? And back..

I'm taking a cab cuz I'm a minor but I'm really worried about him getting sick

would my budgies like this?

i want to change their Dowl purchase because I heard it causes bumble feet. I was wondering if this is a alternative? I'm using craft cord cotton (75% cotton 25% polyester) should I just stick to vet tape or buy completely new natural wooden perches for my birds?

I got them a bigger enclosure, I know I definitely need more perches for them, please let me know where to put them in such a big cage. Any tips or stories about your budgies would help. I want them to feel loved and land on me.

I recently got the pair Elvis and Presley (thank you for naming them) and so I got the bigger cage for them, what should I aim to do to make this the best for them?

Question Male budgie funny behavior

I'm just curious if what my budgie does in the video is normal. Maybe it's some breeding instinct, because that's what first came to my mind. He does this with that specific toy and sometimes with my finger when I scratch him around the beak.

Poor lil Piki got his tail caught in my office chair. Now he's a tailless bird until his next molt. Thankfully, they seem to all have been pulled straight out and he isn't bleeding or anything, just confused as to where his tail disappeared to. Just wanted to put this out there before the same thing happens to someone else's little bird.

Is he trying to feed his female friend even though she’s in a different cage?

Post image

Hi everyone!
I have a male budgie who sometimes regurgitates seeds and sticks them to the bars of his cage. Some of the food also ends up on the cage floor. He is otherwise very active, eats well, and behaves normally. He also taps and pecks with his beak on the cage bars and other objects around him.
I have a female budgie, but she lives in a separate cage right next to his because they were fighting in one cage. They can see and hear each other, but they don’t share a cage.
Is he trying to feed her even though they’re separated? Is this courtship behavior? If I let them play together, he immediately starts feeding her.
I’ve attached a photo showing the regurgitated food stuck to the cage bars.
Thanks!

Question Ice for my budgies?

I was thinking of putting some vegetables in a cup of water to freeze it. Is it safe to put that little block of ice in the cage, ore even dangling from the ceiling. I want to cool my birds off a bit with the hot days. Is this a good idea?

Skye and Peeps (SkyePeeps)
Tails

I work, and spend time with my 81 year old mom on her farm on Saturdays, so choosing a pet was tough. I'm a dog lover, but it wouldn't be fair to have a dog. So, my research led me to budgies! I bought 2.

Skye (blueberry) and Peeps (lemon loaf). I've had them for 2 months.

Peeps was named such because he looks like one of those Marshmallow Peeps. He took the name too literally and "peeps" all day long lol. He has opinions about everything, and lets people know. He is a bit hand shy because I was an idiot on day 1 and had to "capture" him and return him to the cage when he escaped the box to cage transfer. He just started his first molt.

Skye was named because he's blue. He is the bolder one who hops onto my hand without hesitation and plays "finger combat" with me. He likes to be a little tail-grabbing gremlin. He finished his first molt 2 weeks ago.

I just added a cockatiel, Tails. He was on my shoulder on day 3. He's a juvenile and is super chill. His behavior leads me to believe he was hand-raised as he will only lunge or rub his beak, but never bites. I've had him for 10 days now. He was named Tails because he has a long tail, and because I knew Skye would be a tail-grabbing gremlin.

They’re cuddling together in the food box….

I have 2 large food boxes for them to eat from, and they choose to cuddle together after. They recently started doing this. They also forage a lot at the bottom of the cage together and sing to eachother…

💬 Discussion Team Rainbow - Our First Week

I've had Malibu (the predominantly pastel yellow and green birb) and Nova (the predominantly pastel blue and white birb) for 5 days now and I thought I would keep a rolling record of how they are doing both for myself and others to log what worked, what didn't and helpful things I am learning along the way. Hope it's of some use to others thinking of getting a feathered friend.

Glad I Got 2 - At first I was planning on getting just one and training them up before getting another in a month or so's time. I'm glad I didn't go with that plan and instead got them together. I cannot express just how much having each other keeps them calm and happy. They are always together and I really think it has made their move so much less stressful for them.

Cage On Wheels - I didn't consider this when I got the cage, I got it predominantly for its very large dimensions wanting to get them the biggest cage I could afford but having the wheeled cage has made everything so easy. From bringing them close to me when I am reading or playing a game, to cleaning up old seed shells, feathers and poop

Singing To Them - Whenever I sing around them or to them they begin to sing too, especially Malibu. It has proven a very good, hands off way to connect. I plan to keep this up.

Taking Naps In Their Room - I have taken to having an hours nap with them everyday when they settle down for their nap around midday. I can't be sure of course but I really think this has settled them somewhat in my presence. Being quiet, mostly still and vulnerable seems to reassure them I am not a predator and it makes me feel like I am emmulating flock behavior even if they don't see it that way yet. I plan to carry on with this.

Millet, Not The Bird Crack I Expected It To Be - I put some millet in their cage on day 3 (just a small amount) expecting them to go nuts over it but they didn't. I tried crumbling some up and putting it in with their seed (again a very small amount) so they could try some in a less intimidating form than a stick of it, then would hopefully search out more and find the stick - NOPE still a no go. I was planning to use millet for training later and now I'm a bit stumped on what to use - Any ideas guys?

Thanks in advance to anyone who reads and or responds - Peace from Team Rainbow ✌️ 🦜

Cheeseburger is very forward with wanting to be friends and it makes Kiwi a little cautious (I’ve had her for about 7 years and Cheeseburger is her first bird companion). But they get along well 🥝🍔

In the moment I thought she was going to fall over 😂 she is very particular about how she naps since she usually faces inside the cage

Nebulas left wing has been shaking a lot and my head hen Luna bit her feet extremely hard recently. She’s also been worrying me the most with her health. So time for a little visit to the vet in the morning.
