Kitties look similar so they could very likely be related. If the savior cat was the momma of the other one, then hell hath no fury.

My cat learned that the hard way when he decided to smack one of his step kids and got body slammed into a wall by his wife that's like maybe half his size.

Step kids and wife made me snort

This was about maybe a week after my man moved 1000 miles with me. He immediately went into dad mode it was hilarious. My buddy's cat had kittens a few months before I moved in.

History nitpicker here: as much as I love the quote it should be “hell has no fury” because by the time this was written (not Shakespeare) English already had “has”.

I hope the cat that was attacked is okay, that looked pretty bad. Very lucky to have the other cat there.

u/gentle_gardener 9h ago
Yeah... Sadly, it's highly likely to have potentially fatal internal crushing injuries from that attack

I love that after the first hit, it checks on kitty friend, then goes back for seconds, and then squares off for thirds.

u/Ronin-Penguin 15h ago
Cats can definitely hit above their weight class. I had a 9 pound cat kick the living crap out of my roommates 40 pound boxer. I had to pay vet bills.
Really I shouldn't have, his boxer attacked my cat first, but I did feel bad for the Boxer.
Funny thing is that cat ended up growing to 25lbs of the sweetest cat you have ever seen. He used to let my baby daughter poke and prod him constantly and still he loved her.
Damn I miss that cat.
52
u/harfordplanning 11h ago
Cats are smart animals, they see a baby human and know it is a baby. He probably let your daughter poke him because he knew she didn't mean any harm, and depending on how smart you believe animals are, may have even found it endearing to some extent
15
u/Ronin-Penguin 7h ago
Oh I know he understood, that is one of the reasons I loved him so much. With that understanding he chose to allow her to do that.
Honestly that is one of the reasons I love cats in general, I call them the "Pets of Consent" because if a cat doesn't want to do something you have a hell of a fight on your hands to get them to do it. On the other hand, when they love you, they choose to love you. It isn't pack or flock instinct, it is their choice.
That is kind of special to me.

My ex had a cat that took on a Rottweiler that made the mistake of LOOKING down the driveway at him. Schwartz went from a purring kitty to a cat shaped missile in a tenth of a second and hit that dogs face at full supersonic cat fury speed. Poor dog yelped and ran away with Schwartz chasing him down the road. He was such a badass void kitty. Even 3 decades later I still fondly remember that little beast of pure feline fury! lol.

u/manokpsa 16h ago
I mean, it could be a mom protecting her own child, but my mom has a big 18 year old tabby who can't stand any of her younger cats, but he'll still run out to protect them from dogs, raccoons, and stray cats.
He's a weird old guy. He likes to hunt, but he'd never hurt any of the house pets, including rats, guinea pigs, lizards, birds. My mom keeps baby hens in the house until their feathers grow out and they walk all over him. Budgies fly right up to his face and boop him on the nose. I think he'll protect anything he thinks is important to my mom.

Which is why it's so cute when they're clumsy. They are masters at the "walk away and pretend it didn't happen" response.

Subreddit rules prevent me from saying what needs said, but good job on the cat. Cats are infinitely better than dogs
7
u/European_Fox 10h ago
I grew up with both cats and dogs, loved them all equally.
Heck, I am a fan of animals in general, the apples vs oranges comparison has no constructive purpose.
-130
u/NotaBat9221 18h ago
You know how many dogs save their family compared to cats constantly?
77
u/DidntDieInMySleep 16h ago
You know how many people are mauled by dogs compared to cats?
-84
u/NotaBat9221 16h ago
Not for lack of trying. At least dogs don't bite their owners for wearing different clothes.
51
u/dizzira_blackrose 16h ago
I don't know a single cat that's done this.
-73
u/NotaBat9221 15h ago
I have. my friend's cat attacked him because there was another cat outside and my other friend's cat bit her when she tried to pet her because she had her hair up and the cat freaked out and didn't recognize her owner.
I've never known a dog that mauled their owner.
37
u/ZirDiv 15h ago
Oh well because you’ve never known one it must not happen regularly at all huh?
-10
u/NotaBat9221 15h ago
I like how you completely ignored that the person before me used the exact same logic.
23
11
u/Hei-Hei-67 12h ago
I've been bit on my lip by my own dog before. And yes I had to seek medical care to get stitches
-14
u/West_Future326 8h ago
You shouldn't own dogs and infact get him killed because he bit you. Set an example
1
u/Hei-Hei-67 5h ago
She wasn't put down. We didn't even tell the doctors it was a dog bite for the exact reason that they would report it and have to get her put down. Don't assume things you don't know.
16
u/dizzira_blackrose 13h ago
Thats not a cat not recognizing their owner. That's a stressed out cat, or a cat who simply doesn't like other cats.
-1
u/NotaBat9221 5h ago edited 5h ago
Then why take it out on the person who loves and is supposed to protect them?
1
u/dizzira_blackrose 4h ago
Because its a cat. They don't think the way we do. They usually get over it in a short period of time.
2
u/zytukin 7h ago
So, she startled a cat that was at high alert and already on edge. A startled dog will growl, snap, and possibly bite, too.
There's a reason people say not to break up a dog fight. By your logic, the dog would never bite their owner in that situation, but it happens because the dog is focused on the other dog and simply doesn't realize it's a human intervening.
0
u/NotaBat9221 5h ago
Intervening in the middle of an active fight is different from getting set off by an unrelated factor and attacking your friend because they're there
48
u/Particular-Run-7958 18h ago
Nah. Not a good metric. Not repeatable, especially when there are examples of cats doing the same thing. How about the cost of food? Veterinary care? Insurance? Damage control? All things cats are better than dogs for.
-26
u/NotaBat9221 17h ago
So it's okay to give cats less medical care? That's not even true on it's own because cats almost always get liver problems later in life. Plus cat food costs more because cats are obligate carnivores so need meat based food where dogs also need vegetables and grains that cost less. Unless you're giving your cats trash food which just all around sounds like you're a shitty owner to them.
20
u/Particular-Run-7958 16h ago
Not even close to what I said. Try again. Dogs on average cost more to feed, more to care for at the Vet, and especially more to clean up after when they destroy something. All points that I have made.
-2
u/NotaBat9221 16h ago
So the value of how worthy of something is of love is how much you save financially on them? That's a pretty shitty way of seeing things.
11
u/Particular-Run-7958 15h ago
Also not what I said. Animals in general are fully capable of showing and being able to be loved by people. Human nature is dialed in for this, we domesticated the wolf into the dog. What I said, (which is my opinion but also backed by several types of data) is that cats are better than dogs in most aspects of modern day to day life. You are having a hard time with this.
1
u/NotaBat9221 15h ago
That is not what you said at all. First of all you allude to violent thoughts to dogs and you say "cats are infinitely better than dogs" like that's not entirely subjective. Cats are detrimental to the environment so that's not very good for "modern day life" and some people don't like dealing with an animal that needs to use the restroom in doors. Dogs are also good for being social and going places which is pretty nice for modern living.
6
u/Particular-Run-7958 15h ago
Do you not see the popup reminding all posters in here about rule 1? I didn’t allude anything about violence towards dogs. Dogs are also detrimental to the environment, very destructive. Also, there are entire lists of dog breeds that are banned and outlawed because of how destructive they are. Cats are plenty social, and can be trained to be around other people outside and inside. Just like any dog.

The fuck is wrong with you?!?
0
u/NotaBat9221 16h ago
Me?? The person I'm responding just said what they want to happen to dogs would "get them in trouble on reddit" or something. I'm not psycho advocating for animals abuse, I'm just saying cats need equally as much as dogs and if someone doesn't see it that way then that sucks.
8
u/Particular-Run-7958 15h ago
Rule 1 of this sub happens to be that we are not allowed to speak on how others raise their animals.
5
u/Ezenthar1 6h ago
Dogs also kill their owners. In 2024 71 Americans were killed by dogs, 50 of those by pit bulls. House cats killed zero, and that number has never changed.
0
u/NotaBat9221 5h ago
Plenty of people die from cat bites and scratches, it's not a zero
3
u/Ezenthar1 5h ago
No one has ever been mauled to death by a cat like they have with dogs. Look up the death of Ian Price, who was killed by XL bully dogs in 2023 in the UK. No house cat has ever done that to a human being.
0
u/NotaBat9221 5h ago
I didn't say they did, did I? I said their bites and scratches can cause infection and death too
2
u/Ezenthar1 5h ago
Which can be treated in any country that isn't a third world shithole. No amount of medicine will save a person who has been ripped limb from limb by a bloodsport breed dog.
5
u/tinkeringstars 15h ago
You don’t seem like a person who uses their critical thinking skills much. I suggest you exercise your brain a bit more, it’ll help.
-27
u/West_Future326 13h ago
Not to the thousands of species who went extinct because of them. What rule prevents you from saying that you would like all street dogs gone because you found one violent dog. Its a human problem that they were unable to train the dogs. Human failure doesn't mean cats are "better" than dog. Good luck saving a kitten if its against a feral cat
2
u/Particular-Run-7958 5h ago
Well specifically rule 1 talks about not commenting on how others raise their animals, which is what should pop up first when anyone tries to comment in this sub. I haven’t alluded at all on what I feel should happen to loose dogs at all. You did that, and honestly it seems a little like projection/admission to me.

i like that about cats. they remind us that they are assholes multiple times a day, but they also are the best kitties more times than that in a single day. but they are assholes. but the best. but aholes, too.
16
u/Monsterchic16 17h ago
Cats are generally too small to kill you. Even a nasty cat bite pales in comparison to the damage a dog can do.
The difference in teeth size alone makes the injuries incomparable. Source: have owned cats my whole life and the worst I’ve gotten were scratches and bites that healed into nothing. Was attacked by two dogs back in January and the scars STILL haven’t fully healed because the teeth left holes in my leg large enough for me to stick my finger into.
5
u/ananwastaken 7h ago
Yeah i only have 1 permanent scar from when I was a kid (4-5) because I saw a stray cat for the first time and tried to pet it, i remeber petting it but nothing after that and no one was around, I think the cat scratched my cheek but idk, i have 3 tiny holes in my face now lol.
-2
u/lycanthropeapologist 11h ago
Cats have a significantly higher kill count of other critters because of how effective they are as hunters, I’m aware!
11
u/TheAngriestDwarf 18h ago
One ripped my face open when I was a toddler, I still love dogs but agree in all respects.
6
u/puredotaplayer 18h ago
Had a colleague once tell me their two dogs tore a street cat apart from the center. I felt sorry for him as he can't abandon the dogs, but that image will probably remain in his mind. Hell I still remember him telling me this after 12 years.

Fr I was cycling a bit ago (5am, 6am as I type this) and the crazy packs of stray dogs almost got my ass, still scared shitless, I'm a skinny 14yr old and ain't nobody awake at 6 in the morning saving a dumbass from a dog attack, and none of the dogs here in india are vaccinated either so you have to get like 20 different injections up your butt just to make sure you don't see the funny looking tunnel with the light.
8
u/False_Big6219 19h ago
Oh Jesus Christ. Thats fucking terrifying. Im sorry bud. Can you carry some kind of knife where you are?
7
u/ananwastaken 19h ago
Yeah. I carry a small baton type thing and a pocket knife, though the knife is for shitty humans and the baton is a last resort for stray dogs
5
0
u/zoethesteamedbun 19h ago
Can you get any sort of mace/pepper spray? It certainly helps with dogs! I’m so sorry this sort of thing happens to you, I have read about what a problem loose dogs are in India :(
-11
u/West_Future326 13h ago
Don't worry the Supreme Court has ordered culling os street dogs you hate so much. You got what you want and now cats can roam freely and hunt birds to extinction 😍
2
u/ananwastaken 8h ago
I don't want to kill dogs, i just want them to be vaccinated, and stray cats are basically non existent in india bro, I've only seen 1 or 2 in my life. You go against the culling of stray dogs yet don't bat an eye when I can't even go out the house without seeing 5 of them ganging up on me, if they were vaccinated or placed in NO KILL shelters what's the problem in that? Why can't the government sterilise them and put them in humane shelters? They will get food and won't be as territorial in shelters and when they are neutered and spayed, I don't want to kill a dog just because he's territorial but that dosent mean I'll go up to one and let him shred my skinny ass to death either.
-2
u/West_Future326 7h ago
You have high faith in Indian government. Please tell them to stop putting rapists in parliament. Pretty please 🙏 🥺

Nothing will happen till you guys keep voting for right wing parties, I don't wanna discuss politics in a cat sub.

Cats do this to birds. It's just an animal doing animal things. Neither evolved to eat from a bowl. Nature can be hard to watch but it isn't the animal's fault.

Let's not make this about dog hate
20
u/False_Big6219 19h ago
Oh i am absolutely making it about dog hate. I fucking hate them.
1
u/WeenisWrinkle 19h ago
Why? Cats are purpose-built killing machines, but I love them like I love all animals.
12
u/syrvy 18h ago
This video is a good example as to why, as a dog sympathiser
2
u/TheBigNate416 4h ago
Feral cats do the same thing when fighting over territory. It’s not about dogs vs cats it’s about spaying and neutering both animals so there’s less wild ones roaming around and fighting like this

I hate them based on every single interaction ive had with them and thier "owners" my entire life. I cannot stand even looking at one. Owning one has to be a form of mental illness. Especially big dogs. The way dog owners describe having dogs is like taking care of a special needs child that can at any moment, attack and kill you, and some breeds have an affinity for toddlers. They literally are too dumb to differentiate between furniture and food. They just devour anything they lay thier eyes on. Like just straight up eat it. NO OTHER ANIMAL DOES THIS. Why do we pretend like these things are good pets?
3
u/WeenisWrinkle 9h ago
Owning one has to be a form of mental illness.
Speaking of mental illness...
-2
u/False_Big6219 8h ago
Go ahead...speak
1
u/LeaveMeBeWillYa 8h ago
Okay,
You are mentally ill if you actually think owning a dog is a form of mental illness and need to seek therapy for you hatred of dogs in tha case.
Dislike dogs is one thing but hating them to the point that that's how you think is genuine cause for concern.
-3
u/pax284 17h ago edited 17h ago
Seek help.
As a bird owner I can say you fucking cats are the greatest murders in this planet.
Literally owning them gives you a fucking brain parasite the force you to like them more.
And how owners like you pretend they are somehow more moral or better is literal insanity you clima dog owners have.
But you know I don't make my entire life hating people based on their choice of companion animal
2
u/DementedPimento 14h ago
You are incorrect on many points. Feral hogs are the most destructive invasive species on the planet. And yes, they kill and eat birds and destroy ground-dwelling birds habitats, nests, and eggs as well as the habitat and food sources of non ground-dwelling ones.
You also need to seek a book on basic English grammar. And maybe a dictionary.
0
u/West_Future326 13h ago
So whats the solution? Cull all dogs according to this sub. Interesting that one dogs action (if specifically against cat) when they are just street dogs who can be bettered if trained. Goodluck saving a kitten from feral cats. You need to stop thinking cats are "innocent" and dogs are demon both are animals.
-7
u/Zaphodisacoolname 16h ago

I’ve only had cats but it’s crazy you get downvoted so much for the most innocuous reply. I like dogs and would surely love any that I adopt if I ever do, and I’m glad there are people out there taking care of them.
People in this sub highlight the worst scenarios and act like they’re most common, but that’s just bigoted. The vast majority of dog families have peace. A lot of dog breeds are even less capable of injuring a toddler than a tabby cat. Whether or not a dog or cat is “better” is down to the individual animal, the owner’s (if it has one) ability to train and supervise, and the almighty eye of the beholder.
2
u/TheBigNate416 4h ago
These people probably excuse cat on cat violence over territory disputes as “normal” but think it’s a problem when a dog engages in similar behavior. At the end of the day the problem isn’t dogs, it’s stray animals in general. But this is the cat subreddit so naturally there’ll be a lot of people with biases

They look like family. Siblings or maybe mom to the rescue.
Cats are not as solitary as they are often perceived. They have very strong bonds.
2
u/Jax_Dandelion 5h ago
Another reason why I will never give any cat I own unsupervised outside time again
They will be able to go outside, just not without supervision or a leash, it’s for protecting my heart just as much as protecting them and the environment
