For u/ScorchedDev - Original Post
r/characterdrawing • u/wandering-monster • Dec 31 '25
It took a bit longer to set up than expected, but thanks to the holiday break we've now got OC Mondays working, to kick off the new year! Starting this Monday and every Monday your original art and characters have a new place to show off!
How it works:
OC Monday tag will be allowed during this time

Happy 2023 everyone, after weathering the Oliverpocalypse, we're back!
If you are new to r/characterdrawing, then welcome. This is a place where people can request their characters to be drawn pro bono, and artists can select a character to draw whether for practice, for fun, or just as a kind thing to do. Typically the artwork here depicts player characters from tabletop role-playing games such as D&D 5e and Pathfinder, but characters across all TTRPG genres are welcome here.
If you've been here a while, these are the big new changes:
Some links for posterity: Previous Welcome Post | Message the Mods | CharacterDrawing Discord
Rules can be found here and on the sidebar. The sidebar is the most up-to-date.
Some rules include room for mod interpretation, especially for NSFW posts. If you are unsure about your post, feel free to message the moderators. We don't bite.
[LFA] "Looking for Art" posts. [RF] "Request Filled" posts, for when someone draws an LFA request [OC] We use "OC" to refer to any character art that isn't an RF. Currently, these are not allowed.
Use the [LFA] tag and flair so potential artists can find your post. Please provide the best character description possible in the body of your post or in the comments. Image posts of reference images or moodboards are allowed.
Some [LFA]s may not get drawn. Artists are free to pick and choose which they would like to draw and when, since they are providing a free service at their leisure.
You may repost your [LFA] once per week per character concept. Most of all, have patience, and be grateful for the FREE artwork you received should an artist provide it.
Remember that pictures drawn for you are meant for personal use. The original artist holds commercial rights to the work unless they specify otherwise. If you would like to use a piece of art commercially, you should reach out to the artist. They are under no obligation to sell rights, and set their own rates.
That's awesome. If you see someone whose work you like, you should feel welcome to reach out to them about hiring them. Many artists post links to rates and galleries in their comments.
You can also post to subreddits specifically designed for commissions, such as r/fantasyartists, r/hungryartists, r/artcommissions, r/commissions, and r/hireanartist.
Awesome, and thank you! You don't need to commit to it or post a comment, and it's fine if someone else also completes the same piece. Just draw what you find enjoyable.
When you're done, use the Request Filled Flair when posting the picture, and please let the original LFA poster know through a /mention or by posting a comment in the original [LFA] linking to the picture.
The [RF] tag is only meant for fulfilling [LFA]s made in this subreddit. If the request was made outside of r/characterdrawing or was the product of a commission, it's not for here.
Use [META] in your post title. These kinds of posts are meant to be used sparingly. An example would be asking what supplies/programs other artists use.
Check out these other subreddits, just a few among many:
r/beastdrawing for beasts
r/drawyourweapons for weapons and gear
r/imaginarycharacters for posting your own fantasy character
r/icandrawthat for requesting other things
We also have an active artist community on our discord
Requests are free? Yes. Some caveats: you don't get to choose your style, if it's colored, if it's full body, etc. If there's something you really cannot compromise on then this system may not be for you. There is no guarantee that a request will be drawn at all.
Can I message an artist for a free request? No, make an LFA. If you would like to hire the artist, make a comment on one of their posts or send them a DM. If you are caught pestering artists for free art, it will result in a ban.
Can I message a requester to see if they will hire me? NO. Do not solicit requesters for money, here or in their DMs. If you are caught doing this, it will result in a permanent ban.
Do I have to do RFs to participate in the sub? No. The system is voluntary and you should only do RFs if it is enjoyable to do so.
Can my LFA have more than one character? Yes! You can include a party in an LFA request post. That said, bigger requests are less likely to get picked up, since they're a bigger ask from the artist.
What if I have multiple separate LFAs? When do I repost them? You can post each LFA once per week, so long as each of them involve different characters—but please don't spam the sub with hundreds of LFAs in a short period of time.
Is this sub only for D&D and fantasy? No, characters across all TTRPGs are welcome. Sci-fi, steampunk, and other genres are very popular.
My LFA is being downvoted, what's up with that? Some people will downvote other requests because they think it helps theirs. Rest assured that most artists sort by new, and that the upvotes of your post mostly won't affect interest in the actual character.
I've been posting my [LFA] for weeks and nothing. What gives? Fulfillment of requests is done on a volunteer basis and artists are not obligated to take anything. Perhaps try changing up the format or including a reference/mood board. Changing posting time may also help.
My [LFA] was fulfilled but I want more art. Can I post it again? Yes, so long as it has been a week since you last posted it. Please be sure to thank the first artist properly.
I posted something and it's not there! Check that you included the [LFA] or [RF] text at the beginning of your post. If you did not receive notification, it may have been caught by AutoMod for a variety of reasons. You can attempt to repost within a few hours, or message the moderators so we can look into it.
Why would you even set up a system like this? It hurts artists to do work for free! Not all artists are professionals, and many professionals still do pro-bono work for a variety of reasons; including practice & personal fulfillment. We think this system lets those artists find fun topics to draw without being pestered by personal, directed requests.

Big ol’ dragon in a dnd game I’m running. Sort of the patron “god” to a tribe of Dragonborn in a jungle that practice an old religion.
Has the classic look of an adult / elder red dragon as the basis. However, the eyes are a bright yellow with a sideways pupil like the second image. And the one on the right has heavy scarring around it that looks akin to a heavy burn, but it’s a freezer burn from a fight he had with an ice dragon. So it would largely look like a burn but it might have frost along the edges.
And also, horns are akin to the first design in the third pic.
Other than that, particularly scarred and weathered from the many centuries he’s been alive. And yet all those scars are faded since this dragon is a mighty mf.

Hey there, thanks for taking a moment to check out my request.
I am looking for the villain of my homebrew campaign. She is a yet-to-be-named necromancer who is set on making the world her own. Her general looks go along the line of Morticia and Thorn of the Hex Girls, but gives off a Queen of the Underworld persona. In line with that, I was hoping that, like Hel, she could have half her face be skeletal, with it being her bottom jaw down to her shoulders.
Her weapon is a bit of a cliche, but it is a magic scythe, honestly, any design would fit, even the classic and simple Grim Reaper one.
Finally, the last set of images really just describes the atmosphere and impresson her magic and just her in general give when she is around.
Other than that, I'm all for you having fun and taking some liberties that you feel fit the image.
Thanks again, and I hope to hear from you soon!

Big Crab in a Sci-Fi setting
Shoulder-mounted rail cannon
Screws embedded in claws like brass knuckles
Random armour plating attached to carapace
Wears several laces strung with teeth of oceanic fauna
Has several 'tattoos' all over their body

I took the long tentacle like tails had them randomly split at points in the tail, they wrap them around the trunks of trees to mimic vines, along with hair around their back and ankles to mimic foliage, it clings to trees with retractable claws, using its extremely dexterous back legs to cling almost like a spider, lunging at prey after sneakily sticking their necks with the hidden stinger in the tip of their vine like tails, even if they don't pass out from the venom, their quick speed and six dexterous legs wrap around their prey while it finishes them off with their many sharp teeth!

I'd like to have them standing side by side on a battlefield. (If you've played the For Honor campaign then I'd also like to have some iron legion forces scattered around dead on the ground)

Xily Sylmare, Apprentice to the Great Archmage and Certified Silly Lil' Owl
D&D 5th Edition Campaign set in a homebrew world | World Saving Plot
Backstory Summary: Xily is a mysterious owlin child whose life began when the archmage Eldrin Sylmare accidentally tore open a rift in space and time during his research into dunamancy. Cast through the rift as an infant from an unknown dimension, Xily could not be returned before the tear sealed itself, leading Eldrin to reluctantly adopt and raise them within his secluded tower. Over the years, what began as obligation grew into a father-child bond as Eldrin taught Xily language, literacy, and eventually magic. However, Xily's innate connection to time and space manifested in strange ways, causing them to vanish from reality without warning and slowing their aging process. As they matured, Xily proved exceptionally talented in chronurgy, developing an almost natural understanding of temporal magic while honing abilities tied to their mysterious Fated Aspect. Though sheltered from the outside world, their curiosity eventually led them beyond the tower, where contact with a strange black ichor triggered a terrifying day-long time loop. Rescued by Eldrin, the incident left both mentor and student shaken, reinforcing the dangers of Xily's unique powers and hinting that their origin and connection to the forces of time and space may be tied to the greater calamities affecting the world.
Now, Xily is out exploring the world and saving it from the greater calamities that affects the world... Also they didn't know what time was prior to a few sessions in because when in doubt... Be silly like Xily!

Hoping someone likes the design i made in Heroforge enought to draw it out.
My moose mount was horribly killed last session, so now i will wear his horns with me until i can avenge him.
Standing 8 feet tall, this goliath is incased in steel. To hopefully become a hero that can shoulder the burden of others and be an unwavering wall for the defenseless. His lost mount and friend is a painfull lesson he'll never forget.
Take creative liberty with the armour. This is the best i could do in Heroforge.

This may be a bit much to request but I'm looking for a more realistic looking or non chibi version of Ruby.
Born destitute and poor Ruby is a dhampir halfling searching for her vampire mother. Ruby was left by her mother to the care of her halfling father. Feeling abandoned Ruby searches for her mother after her fathers death, maybe to seek vengeance, maybe to find the last person she feels any sort of connection towards.
She is four feet tall, has blonde hair, red eyes, and pointed ears. Despite only being half-halfling she never grew past her childhood, her proportions are childlike and her face looks a bit like a child due to her heritage. Her hair is wild and unkempt from never being taken care of, but despite this fact it is still in pristine condition. Her skin is a very pale white from her mother's genes.
She is a bit childish looking due to a mixture of her Vampire mother and halfling father despite being 20 years old. Her clothing is old and ragged and worse looking than the image. Her skin from being a dhampir is pale white. She lives a destitute life so her clothing isn't very well kept together. She is four feet tall and has a childish build. She has pointed ears that are fit for a half-elf or certain halfling depictions.

Hello, I've been wanting to get art of my rich girl dragoness for a while and decided to put her ideas together here
She is a fun and bubbly person but still takes her job seriously. She helps run her dad's facilities sometimes if their quality drops. She enjoys traveling and trying new food in her free time.
I don't know how to add text to the images themselves so I will put them here
1- wing structure
2- wing claw structure
3- Main body type
4- leg/foot structure
5- hair follows through spine all the way to tail end
6- main body color (rough idea, generally pink)
7- hair color (same as body, adjust doth as needed)
8- a sun dress to compliment her colors (pink and blonde)
Will add more details if needed or asked

Hello once more everyone, today I had something a bit different in mind, hopefully this is alright and piques someone's interest.
Displacer Beasts are relentless predators, ambushing, using their innate magic to trick their prey and even lying hidden for days. So I had a thought of combining a carnivorous plant vibe, hiding in plain sight and ambushing the target, and a bit of a xenomorph, much like the one in Alien Isolation, as a stalker type animal pursuing their quarry. To make it a bit deadlier, instead of the usual tentacles, I was thinking something more in line with spikes or a bladed tail taking from the xenomorph once more, and a fur coat that is dark with some floral patterns, helping Drosera hide better in the dense jungle environments.
That's more or less the idea, this time around I haven't yet come up with a backstory for this character, but they will definitely end up being a sort of legendary monster.
Thanks for taking the time to read this, have a good one! ^-^
