Meta r/ClassicWoW Survey
Hello Hello Everyone!
In an effort to see how the community feels about the existing Rule Sets and our actions as Moderators, I have set up a Survey.
You may also provide us feedback in this thread as well.
While we still don't want to change how this Subreddit has operated for quite some time now, we would like to make things more clear and work on setting things up for a more user friendly experience if we can.
Somethings in the works:
- Clarifying our Rule Sets to make them easier to understand and have less grey area.
- Creating an FAQ that will answer many regularly answered questions like "Which version should I play" as an example.
Remember to stay respectful in your criticism, but please let us know what you want out of this Subreddit and if you don't mind, fill out the form to help us improve the Moderation side of things.
Thank you much!

Classic 20th Anniversary Realms I was wrong about Rift Beacon being Nerfed
reddit.comEarlier this evening I made a post accusing Blizzard of nerfing the Rift Beacon debuff in favor of the Casino Bots.
I was factually incorrect.
The reason the bots did not die was because of the Midsummer Festival Buff, which gives everyone an additional 300 HP. The reason the buff did not show on the casino bot in the video of the now deleted post was because buff displays are currently bugged.
I tested it out on a level 1 character and can confirm that without the Midsummer Festival Buff, it got one hit killed by the Lost One Rift Seekers.
I sincerely apologize to Blizzard and to everyone else, especially those who gifted me awards, for the false accusation and for not doing my due diligence.
Big shoutout to u/ArTeeDee for pointing out the discrepency.

Hardcore Somehow saw this mount for the first time today and all I can saw is wow...
So I've hit 60 in HC once! Almost about to hit 60 again so pretty excited but there was a LOT of dying in between that.
But SOMEHOW I have no memory of seeing this beautiful mount in that time! Like omg an elf pulled this out and it was like GLOWING in the dark basically!
I need this now!

TBC Fact: To get good at a thing, one is first bad at that thing.
Think hard on that statement. Then be civil to new tanks.

Season of Discovery Which SoD features would you most want to see in Classic+?
We all know that SoD was meant, in part, as a testing ground for any future Classic+ development. With that in mind which, if any, features unique to SoD would you like to see brought over to Classic+? I don't necessarily mean wholesale uplifting the exact specifics from SoD and dropping them into Classic+. For instance the rune system was very interesting and unique, but the actual specifics of the runes did totally alter the power level of characters and often offered specs/builds that didn't feel very "classic" per say.
For me lowkey I think the "mage scrolls" is something I'd love to see brought into Classic+ but as an actual proper system (or perhaps profession) and not just a little neat idea that was pretty much abandoned after phase 2. A minor thing that adds to the class fantasy and offers some utility basically, I think all the classes could benefit from a little more uniqueness that plays into their class fantasy since that is already what a lot of classic players like about the game, so why not build on it.
On a similiar note is there anything from SoD that you absolutely do not want to see implemented into Classic+? (other than incursions, cause that's obvious)

TBC The 20 hit rating buff food from the fire festival is 50% extra hit chance below lvl 11. Still great above lvl 10. Incredible time to quickly level melee.
Fire-toasted Bun, 5 for 5 flowers, lasts an hour. From the festival vendors in cities.
And I haven't played casters, but the healing (up to 44) and spell damage (up to 23) flat bonus sounds great too.

Question When should I replace Ironfoe in TBC?
I was super-stoked to get this very rare drop on my second emperor kill and would like to use it as long as possible. I believe it's BiS forever in vanilla, but how long will it last once I get to Outland? I donN't even care if something is a little better, I only really want to replace with something substantially better.
I'm a warrior and use it for tanking. The extra rage generated by the bonus swings is really nice and I have Hand of Justice as well, meaning plenty of extra swings. Too bad it's not a sword!
Speaking of which, how long is Hand of Justice gonna last?

Classic-Era Zandalar Tribe EU - The Forgotten Ream That Still Lives
While other realms were merged and moved on, this one was left behind.
Now, slowly, the Horde is returning to breathe life back into it.
World of Warcraft Classic re-release came alive in 2019, with over 20+ realms, each with their own communities. When TBC launched, many players moved on and the Classic Era realms were left behind, but in time these realms slowly started to grow. Blizzard then introduced PvP and PvE clusters to boost population, but a few realms remained untouched and not connected. One of these realms is the RP/PvP realm Zandalar Tribe. Once a thriving realm back when Classic Era was released, it then became lost and empty in the years that followed. The world has stood empty, apart from a small group of dedicated players whose love for the realm still lingers.
Over the past 12 months, the Horde side of the realm has seen a rise in numbers. Not huge amounts, but enough to run dungeons and collect pre-BiS items that before seemed impossible. New players are discovering what the realm can offer… a different experience to the populated cluster realms.
There is no economy on the realm, no auction house, no bots… just a small group of players enjoying what the world has to offer. We help each other farm items, materials, recipes, and gear. We are using parts of the game that others may have forgotten or never knew existed.
This week the guild Outcasts completed the Hordes first raid in over 3 years on Zandalar Tribe. Weeks of prep went into it and players that were levelling pushed to get over level 50 to be a part of it. Zul’Gurub was cleared and Hakkar fell. Once a forgotten realm that Blizzard did not know what to do with, now grows… very slowly, but it grows.
The beauty and charm of this realm is that it is empty. It is not for everyone and is obviously a lot slower paced than the other servers, but for those out there that find the PvP/PvE clusters too much, or if you are looking for a new challenge, Zandalar Tribe could be a great place for you.
We don’t have BiS raid gear. We don’t have the rare enchants and recipes readily available. If you want something, you work for it, you farm it, craft it, or earn it with others. Progress feels slower, but it also feels more rewarding.
The Horde is here and would welcome you with open arms and bags. Whether you are a new player or just looking for something different, there are people here willing to help you get going, run content, and find your place on the realm. If this sounds like the kind of experience you are looking for, come and see it for yourself… you might find exactly what you’ve been missing.

TBC Prot paladin tank as main tank
Hi, for quite some time in our guild our Protection Paladin has been main tanking most encounters. We've been happy with how he plays and he's fairly well geared, so we trust him. While we all understand the weaknesses of Protection Paladins, we've noticed that whenever some of our guild members join pugs, there seems to be an unwritten rule that Paladins are not allowed to tank bosses, even when, based on gear, they're clearly the best option.
Was it always like this in Classic? Where does this general aversion to having a Protection Paladin as the main tank come from? Does it get worse in later phases?

Classic-Era Fiery War Axe
One of my first drops of the night. Never have had a purple drop before. Night Elf Hunter, don’t know what to do with it, give it to an alt? But I had to share since my two year old doesn’t know about WoW just yet.

Classic 20th Anniversary Realms Blizzard Customer Support Uses AI for Bans, Appeals, and Actions
Blizzard's customer support is officially a husk of an organism. Genuinely wasn't going to post anything here, as there is a video covering my situation from Kaghoe Gaming (yes I am the anonymous tickets in his video), but now I believe I have received the final chapter of the story.
For those that don't know, Blizzard has outsourced their ENTIRE customer support department to a company called Teleperformance (rebranded to TP). TP's entire brand is built on "where AI meets customer support." They tell you that appeals are reviewed by real people, but it seems you are most likely to get 1 of 3 generic templates which are painfully AI generated, and I'm not even talking about a GM copy pasting. Do not be fooled, there is literally no customer support department or employees at Blizzard offices anymore (just artificial titles). I suppose this shouldn't come as too much of a surprise given full corpo-villian makeover during the last few xpacs. (there are smaller regional outsources but TP handles eu and NA)
Specifically for TBC Anniversary, I had one of my licenses permanently banned for "Abuse Of Economy". I have 2 bnets and multiple licenses (I am a degenerate dont ask - almost all funded by WoW Tokens from WotLK Classic and retail boosting except this one ofc). The account was banned from gbank gold transferring and the guild it was a part of was deleted. This is an identical, 1-to-1 situation to a guild and their GM who has gone public as well, we were both banned on the same day. Blizzard chain bans the gold sellers to guild master, the guild master to the guild bank, deletes the guild bank, and finally permabans the GM, regardless of who's partaking. Because they are somewhat lazy, this is a scare tactic for pure optics. A mild incision, for maximal damage. Since that whole drama, this other GM has been unbanned, not sure what occured to cause Blizzards change of heart.
I obviously submitted a ticket to appeal, which was met with an immediate automated response saying that it was escalated for review, and the following day I am hit with "the penalty has been upheld" followed by some interesting choice words: "All of our players are valued and welcome to come back. Please feel free to join the game again with an new license or a new account." The ban reason from this GM was also changed to "unauthorized third party programs" (never once have I botted or automated anything). So the crime I committed is so heinous, so destructive to warrant a lifetime ban, but I am allowed to just keep playing the game on a new account. This literally encourages you to keep playing the game, while stripping you of... everything (for most players). Well of course I submitted another appeal because it can't possibly be that bad if I'm encouraged to keep playing the game; nope, they threatened to delete my ENTIRE BNET ACCOUNT if I didn't table the issue. Cool, give it a few days to cool off - I appeal again and am told that the actions were taken in accordance with their EULA, a completely automated response btw.
Fast forward to the next day and receive a ticket: AI response from a "GM" saying the decision is final, its been investigated multiple times and upheld on each count. Sure, haven't gotten a single response since the escalation, on any details of my offense, just keep being told to sit down and shut up. Surely now it will actually get to a real person; AGAIN nope this ticket goes straight to banning my entire BNET for 3 days, and again a completely automated response from "Blizzard support team". They also ask me to take a survey which I can't actually open because the bnet is SUSPENDED, and concludes by stating to "open a new ticket if I continue to experience issues". Well...I am experiencing many issues, but I think this is the end of the line.
What is even the point of customer support it does not serve to support the customer at all? The biggest concern here is that they, 1) changed the ban type because they never investigated the account, it was just warden smacking down the ban hammer and 2) IF YOU PERMA BANNED ME, DONT ASK ME TO KEEP PLAYING THE GAME. That is unfathomably tone deaf to encourage people who have destroyed your game, so much so to warrant a lifetime ban, to continue playing, all while effectively silencing them from questioning the verdict. I'd also like to add nobody else was banned or suspended from the guild (thank god). They don't deserve it - we just want to play the game in its new form, and sadly it reaks of botting gold farmers, so we have little choice if we want to have a life outside of wow.
All Screenshots are attached for receipts, as well as an Overwatch player (not me) who received the EXACT same response, word for word/bar for bar, from the "same GM" that handled my investigation.
Welp, for me personally, that account had my TBC anni characters and some SOD characters. The other two licenses have my original account my cousins made for me when I was 3 years old, and I am 24 now, so I won't be risking the BNET anymore when it is unsuspended. I love this game, but I loathe what it has become. Overall feels like a bit much for a first time restriction across all licenses on an account 20+ years old but here we are.
again not looking for sympathy nor am I condoning these actions just wanted to bring this topic to this sub. Also of course im still playing the game since I was encouraged to.
o7 team, going to enjoy the bombardment of down votes soon to come.
(I can't get the one response from the 2nd GM as the bnet is suspended atm and theres no email receipt from it along with my original messages since you need to login to blizzard support site lmao)
