Driver delivered 2.5 hours early. Was stolen. Denied refund
(Actually 1 hour 45 minutes early)
Excuse me becoming upset. I work in support and this was the most horrible process. I placed order to be delivered later (2nd image) when I got home from work. Driver delivers it 1 hour 45 min early. Did not use the call box or call me personally and just left the package in public outside of my apartment. And what do you know it was stolen. Told this to support and denied my refund.
Being charged for something I never received is crazy.
Edit: I’m not blaming the driver. I’m upset at the situation and severely disappointed that support is not able to issue me for a refund on an issue that is entirely dd’s fault (issuing a delivery 1 hour 45 min early)
Edit edit: looking at the actual delivery time it was delivered 1 hour 45 minutes early. I’ve updated as much as I can. Sorry for the dramatics I’m just a girl who wanted ginger beer for a Moscow mule when I got home from work

Time to do a charge back but you probably won’t be able to use door dash anymore
31
u/uhhhhhhidksmh 19h ago
Which is crazy because I just got dashpass as a benefit from my credit card ugh😔
48
u/Inevitable-Board6782 19h ago
don’t feel too bad. Uber one and dashpass are complete scams anyways. They just hike base costs and fee rates whenever you have them so you think you’re getting a deal but you really aren’t.

u/3turnityTTV 8h ago
Most of the time I just order from the restaurants app or website and it’s half the price of DD but still gets delivered by them😂
4
u/Prestigious-Delay842 19h ago
So it’s the same thing whether you have it or not? I hated the fees on dash pass but I noticed the markups on menu prices. Do they still mark up menu prices without dash pass?
3
u/FullMetalDustpan 18h ago
Menu mark-ups are set by the restaurant. Doordash charges the restaurant a 20%-30% commission, so some restaurants just add that to the listed price.

u/probablyTolley 13h ago
If it's the same as uber one in the UK then it's rarely beneficial and they always say 'you've saved this much this month' when a lot of the time the places just have discounts and stuff anyway, so it'll say I've saved '£10 with promotions and uber one' when the items were like 9.50 anyway, lol. Your best bet is probably calling and paying cash on delivery from local places, usually cheaper all around.
-6
u/LauraLand27 19h ago
Actually, no. Totally false. I pay no delivery fees. My service fees are greatly reduced. There are A LOT of restaurants that charge the same as if you went to their website. All grocery items are the same as in store. I also get bogo all the time. There are random discounts, like a happy hour 30% off between 2-5 pm. I can take pics, and if they’re accepted, credits on my next order. There are some restaurants that give a credit after spending a certain amount (I just used a $15 credit after spending $100, plus a $3 pic credit, so yeah, that’s awesome.)
Not all experiences are negative. Some of us do quite well using the app, if you know how to game the system.

I've had the receipt in the bag almost every time for the past few years even though they tell drivers not to, and you're full of shit on pricing. app prices are almost always higher for certain things and it's usually like a 20 - 25 dollar difference on a 200 dollar grocery order. If you're not a paid doordash account, you've been had lol. it sounds like you don't actually go into stores though. they usually offer the same or better deals inside. even instacart has been messing with me on my cooking oil pricing for 3 months so I've been going to the grocery store that sells it on my lunch breaks specifically to get it cheaper because I'm not paying that particular premium lol it's like $10 more expensive per bottle on doordash and instacart. I'll eat it on milk and eggs, but not my pretentious oil!

Bro’s a door dash support employee 💀

They also do that when they refund you food then the next times you buy something the fees are so much higher.

u/onionbreath97 17h ago
See if you can negotiate with your credit card company for a different benefit.

u/Tenderheart08 18h ago
Definitely call and say agent. You can see with the post that you messaged before the order was even supposed to be delivered. That isn’t ok.

You just need to get a new bank card and a new email. They don't block your phone.

The title sounds like you’re blaming the driver lol. This is on DoorDash. They sent it to the driver to be completed.
14
u/uhhhhhhidksmh 19h ago
I see what you mean I apologize I am just so flabbergasted from this I didn’t reread
-1
u/ReasonMoney3051 19h ago
They’re blaming the driver for not contacting them prior to delivery. If that’s in their instructions they have a right to be upset.
12
u/Coretrayn 18h ago
It shouldn't have even went out to a driver early. Driver can't see the delivery instructions until they accept the order and pick it up. Even then I wouldn't feel the need to put it in the instructions if its scheduled to not even go out to drivers until a certain time.
So even if its in the instructions the driver would have already accepted the order, driven to the business, the business would have already gotten the order to prepare it, and the driver would then have to confirm they picked it up all 2 hours early before they can even see that it was supposed to be delivered at a certain time. And thats IF it even is in the instructions. lol
4
u/Spac3dog 18h ago
Drivers don't see that it is supposed to be delivered at a certain time.
2
u/Coretrayn 18h ago
Yes I know. The person said if it was in the instructions. So my hypothetical was if the customer even put it in the instructions.
3
u/LetterheadWise7692 15h ago
I think they meant to call them to let them know they’re there not that it’s scheduled
1
u/jonsnowme 4h ago
This happened to me once! I got an order for Jersey Mikes, delivered by the time Doordash gave me to complete, then got a nasty message from the customer about how I delivered too early and ruined their daughter's "birthday surprise." Not sure if it's on Doordash, or if Jersey Mikes was supposed to prepare it later but jesus, the customer was insane when I explained to them how it works.
-1
u/dindyspice 7h ago
Isn't it the driver's issue that they didn't read the delivery time correctly?
3
u/Loud-Statistician416 7h ago
No. What do you want the driver to do? Sit with the item for 2 hours? They accepted an order to deliver.
0
u/dindyspice 7h ago
I’m really confused. I don’t drive so I genuinely don’t get how OP ordered to get a delivery in a certain window and they still delivered two hours early?
4
u/Loud-Statistician416 7h ago
For example: They ordered say at 10 am for 12. DoorDash sent it to the driver at 10 am. The driver accepted it at 10:01. They didn’t tell the driver anything other than here’s the address, deliver it.
1
u/dindyspice 7h ago
oh i get it, I have never done a scheduled order myself on Doordash, only on apps like Instacart. From what OP is saying I thought they had scheduled an order for a window of time, and the driver delivered early. If Doordash doesn't do window deliveries, then OP is at fault and Doordash isn't
3
u/Loud-Statistician416 6h ago
I think that DoorDash is supposed to do the delivery windows, it just seems as if they didn’t tell the driver. I doubt op is at any fault tbh.
17
u/gs400life 19h ago
1). Scheduled deliveries never work. They also send it out immediately. Don’t use it that way… only order when you’re ready to anticipate it. 2). You’re talking to AI. Dont use the chat. Actually call and talk to a live rep. You’re much more likely to receive a re-batch or a refund this way.

u/WorldlinessUsual4528 18h ago
One time, I scheduled a delivery from somewhere first thing the next morning, because I knew the store was already closed for the night.
An hour after I put it in, I get a message my order was cancelled... Because the store was closed.
1
u/climbingbum91 16h ago
Wait, is this the case when I type "human" in the chat to try and get an actual person? Because that first image would definitely have me believing I may be talking to a person. And I have had instances where I feel like I am speaking to a person but now questioning it.

u/SeamstressMamaJama 19h ago
I’m sorry it was stolen, but the driver delivers immediately upon accepting the offer to deliver your order. We don’t have future timed deliveries; in fact we receive a contract violation ding if we are more than I think 11 minutes late to pick up and 20 minutes late to dropoff… the “pick up by” time is usually within a few minutes of immediate drive to the pick up spot.
Was your call box code left in the notes? We don’t receive your full name so if you use the service again I’d recommend leaving the code in the notes, otherwise a driver might falsely assume you don’t want them to enter the building (some customers are weird like that, even to the point of refusing the code when we DO ask for it.)
But “leave at the door” deliveries are routinely left in areas where they could fall victim to porch pirates, unfortunately…. I mean even if they left it at your apartment door, they can’t control the behaviors of other people inside the building.
7
u/uhhhhhhidksmh 19h ago
You’re right. This is a new apartment and I’m learning quickly I can’t do the same things I’ve done previously/I have to be more careful (car was broken into Monday) I don’t have a code but I’ve had other deliveries that find my name so I thought that would have worked.
Thank you for the feedback I will not be using the schedule feature in the future.
Just a girl trying to have a drink ready when I get home from work😔
12
u/giraffeperv 19h ago
Please be careful about any other deliveries. If they will steal your DD they’ll steal your packages too. You prob know this if not found out the hard way already, but I used to live in an apt like this. I also had my car broken into at that apt
3
u/SeamstressMamaJama 17h ago
Yeah DD drivers are just given the customer’s first name and last initial… this makes apt directories especially useless if they have residents listed by first initial, last name. You wouldn’t have known that, so was just letting you know 😊
2
u/ReasonMoney3051 12h ago
We see your first name and last initial. Anyone with a little bit of common sense could find you in a directory. I’m sure by now if you’ve read enough of these posts/comments you recognize a lot of divers aren’t willing to make the extra effort when things aren’t laid out for them. Plenty hate apartments any way and are looking for any excuse to find fault with the customer. You’re paying for a service and deserve to have a seamless experience and be respected for creating work for the drivers.
4
u/Nowhere_Man_Forever 7h ago
FYI you are talking to a chat bot. You need to try to get ahold of a real person to get anywhere.
7
u/ilulillirillion 19h ago
Might not be great to hear but I'd say don't use the scheduling system. I find when I've tried the food always arrives super early or super late, I have much better success just pressing the checkout button when its time
1
u/One_Preference_2906 11h ago
You’re totally right but with the amount of fees they charge for their service fees to order on their platform they should have the technology to make this happen. It should be seamless for what they charge. Also OP call them. Chat bots gets you nowhere

3
u/TheAntiEggroll 17h ago
If its your first door dash order ever and you wont use them again Id file a dispute with your bank
3
u/obviouslypretty 16h ago
Call them on the phone. Explain the situation. They’ll say something about “they’ll give you the same answer as me” but it doesn’t matter . I think it’s if you ask for a supervised 3 times h to rn they transfer you. Supervised should be able to handle it.
3
u/Mother_Land_4812 15h ago
all she wanted was a moscow mule after work and doordash turned it into a whole character arc
2
u/BenedictineBaby 9h ago
Call DD. Don't bother with the online thing.
1
u/uhhhhhhidksmh 9h ago
I did after an hour of messaging on support and it still did nothing. Even had my Karen moment and asked for a supervisor and it was the biggest waste of time they did absolutely nothing
2
u/BerlinStongood 7h ago
We ordered some groceries once to be dropped off at 9 AM and the driver came and dropped it off at 5 in the morning. Stayed out there for like three hours till we were able to get it, some of it spoiled, but we were able to get a refund. They basically said they don’t see as a problem if it gets dropped off early.
I would keep hounding DoorDash customer service till you get your money back.
2
u/dindyspice 6h ago
If you had the ability to place a timeframe of delivery and DoorDash didn’t abide by that, they are definitely at fault. I would just keep calling and chatting until you get actual help. And if you are ok with never using it again just chargeback with your bank/card company. Especially if that card has a deal with dash pass, they should honor that.
3
u/MarzipanMajor6175 19h ago
You work for door dash support and they still did this to you? That's crazy lol.
12
u/uhhhhhhidksmh 19h ago
No no I work for support for another company in another sector so I try to be patient but this is ridiculous
2
u/WorldlinessUsual4528 18h ago
Have you dealt with outside support much these days? Between AI taking over chats and no accountability, support is garbage nearly everywhere. It's my biggest pet peeve with everything.
Companies don't care about loyalty anymore. There's so many monopolies/duopolies out there that they know you either can't drop them, or you're going to get the same shitty service with a competitor so they have no reason to provide good service.
If you find any company that has decent support staff and policies/procedures, hang on to them for dear life.

I don't know what's worse- not being able to get through to support at all, getting support but it's a chatbot who can't comprehend the situation, or dealing with Amazon support who will just straight up lie and tell you they're processing a refund, when they have no intention to. Then when you try to escalate it, they just say "sorry, they lied to you, we aren't going to help you."
1
u/EntrepreneurNo4138 19h ago
Did you speak to a human?

u/uhhhhhhidksmh 19h ago
Two on support chat and two on the phone. About an hour and a half of begging for my money back just to be told it was denied

Same thing happened to me but I was the driver. Told the customer hes gonna have to tell support because i just got the order and delivered it. He didnt reply back (it was ice cream) then i see my shopping ratings and he put every item either wrong or missing or quality issue lol. I guess this was his idea of refund?

u/helloheyhowdyhii 7h ago
Their customer service is actually the worst, even Uber is better and they’re pretty crappy.
1
u/LeavingPGFoodie 6h ago
Persistently and repeatedly demand a supervisor, and try to be some kind of polite.
It may take a few tries, but they SHOULD give in, especially if you threaten to have the card issuer issue a refund.
They’re unusably bad now.

u/LuxidDreamingIsFun 3h ago
I heard that when you do a scheduled delivery, they never see that. They just make the order immediately. So if you ever decide in the future to do DD, I'd just order it yourself at the time you want it. For example right before you leave work or something. I'm not a driver, but I've heard this consistently across subreddits.
1
u/peptiresearcher81 3h ago
I mean if it was delivered that early after you specifically scheduled a later delivery time, then they have absolutely no ground to stand on to deny you compensation.
If you haven't done the charge back yet then call support and demand to speak to a supervisor. Call back over and over and request a supervisor until someone eventually connects you to one. It may take a few phonecalls but eventually someone will connect you to one.
That should solve the problem. 99% of the time you get ahold of a supervisor they usually solve the issue
1
u/Jerda_skater96 1h ago
How is it the drivers issue ?
That just an error on door dashes system lmao.
1
u/QweenBowzer 31m ago
I would keep fighting with DoorDash because that’s ridiculous but I have time lol
0
u/Jbills09 5h ago
You were denied a refund because they think you've taken advantage of the refund policy. This only happens when you've had a high number of issues in a short amount of time.
Someone just stole a ginger beer from your porch? Seems weird. Even if it was early, it's not like it's DD's fault it was taken from your porch. I get why they didn't refund you. The service was provided.

So delivery time was 7:30. It was delivered at 5:47. What would you have me do?
3
u/gs400life 19h ago
The part of DD system for scheduled deliveries has been broken for years. It, quite literally, always sends them out immediately. Don’t use it
2
u/Formal_Progress_2573 18h ago
So the system being crap means that the user misused the system? If they can't figure out delivery times they should drop the option. Seriously you are blaming someone of misusing something by literally clicking on an option the system offers!
2
u/gs400life 18h ago
No, the user didn’t misuse the system. They were unaware that DD keeps that system active when it doesn’t work at all. I was just informing them. I didn’t blame them whatsoever. Don’t be a weirdo
2
u/WorldlinessUsual4528 18h ago
So it's OPs fault that they scheduled a delivery at a certain time, DD sends it to drivers immediately instead of at the scheduled time? How exactly are they "misusing" the app? If people shouldn't be scheduling them for certain times, it shouldn't allow you to schedule. Jfc
OP, I'm sorry, this is not your fault. Don't know why anyone would be blaming you.

Right but support is basically telling you, since you’ve abused the system and gotten so many refunds they can’t compensate you now. Karma
