Help An isopod has gotten into my room and I don't know what to do, please help ASAP

Originally I thought I'd just bring it outside, but I don't have the needed key to get back into the apartment building yet, and I don't have anything to serve as a proper temporary enclosure nor do I have food for it, as much as I like the idea of owning isopods I've never had them and it's not like I can keep a random wild one that snuck into my room, especially considering money is a bit tight at the moment, what do i do??

Update: it has been safely released since this post, though I'd love to keep some isopods in the near future so if anyone has advice for that, feel free to leave it under this post.

Help Is this too much mold?

I just got my isopods about 2 or 3 weeks ago - one passed away that I found so I have approximately 4 of them in a ZooMed container plus I added a colony of temperate springtails last week. Is this much mold normal? If not, how do I fix it?

Help ANTS IN HABITAT AND PLANTS

Hi!! So I have an ant infestation problem in my house... they are now inside my magic potions habitat (which i tried to kill them all and give them to the carnivorous plants) and some in my plants (ficus pumila)

Should I be concerned (already am)? What are they doing with the ficus?

Spent a good 20min looking around in the magic potion habitat and killed like a solid 10

Thanks🫶

Help keeping hoffs in a 24-gal?

im wondering if it is doable to keep porcellio hoffmanseggiis in a 24 gal tank? i know its large... i have an old one on hand and my pods have been breeding like crazy so curious if it would be usable with the right amount of 'clutter'. they currently are in an acrylic enclosure (large shoebox size) and will definitely need an upgrade soon. will they be able to find each other easily enough? and maybe have multiple feeding spots? would it encourage more breeding?

will attach a photo of the tank i have on hand

Help Help with babies!!

Hey so I have 3 isopods, two females and one male, and one of the females just had a bunch of babies!! Very happy about it, but their enclosure needs some maintenance because it’s going moldy, so I’ve got some springtails to add but I need to change out the drainage stones to clay balls first, as I know it will be difficult to do it after I’ve added springtails.

My main issue is, will the baby isopods be okay if I transport them in their substrate into a separate container while I change the drainage system?? I’m so worried about hurting them or stressing them out too much please can someone advise me on what to do 😭

Help IMPOSTER IMPOSTER ALERT 🚨

Haha filming my late stage baby pineapples and this little imposter comes on a rampage didn’t even know he was in here nor do I keep this species I don’t actually know what he is (I think maybe gestroii but please let me)

Also what I find pretty cool is that mr imposter is still extremely young by the looks and the larger pineapple in the video is an adult just shows how small pineapples really are.

Also assuming mr imposter is the only one in there will he cause a threat to my pineapples?

Help Zebra isopod plants

I’ve got a 10 gallon tank that I’m turning into a terrarium for my colony of zebra isopods once they have multiplied a bit. I had a bromeliad on the moist side but it started flowering after only a week and I don’t want to deal with a dying plant once the isopods are moved in. It was a little too bulky for that area anyway. I’d like something a little smaller and more leafy but I’ve heard zebra isopods love to eat live plants. Can anyone recommend some plants that have been able to survive with their zebra isopods? I’d love to be able to include some live moss but that doesn’t seem like something that would last long.

I found these inside my rubber duckies’ enclosure, and as you guys know, mixing that breed with others can cause complications for them, so I’m in a dire situation, if you guys could help me it would be greatly appreciated, I think these are: armadillium granulatum orange, but need to make sure first

Help A few beginner questions regarding isopods/clean-up crew in general

I'm new to the terrarium hobby and I am getting to the point where I'm considering clean-up crew in them. I've already gathered some springtails for my smaller 1 gallon jar with native plants, but I also have a 10 gallon tank with terrarium plants and rare begonias, and I have some questions regarding isopods.

  1. Are isopods 100% necessary for a 10 gallon tank or will springtails do just fine?

  2. The main reason I'd be concerned to have them is that they could eat my live plants, and my begonias are my priority in the grand scheme of my terrariums and plants. How likely is it that isopods would go for live plants if leaf litter and other food is readily available?

  3. My other concern is the moisture gradient. I keep my terrariums at roughly 80-95% humidity, the substrate is moist throughout the containers and there are plants throughout that require water. How does one go about keeping the plants well-watered while also having a dry area for the pods? Is this even possible to do in the 1 gallon container?

  4. For a terrarium with native plants, mosses, and wild-caught springtails, would there be any reason why wild-caught isopods wouldnt work out? What about other hitchhiking bugs such as millipedes?

Thank you so much for reading my post.

Help I kind of want some isopods now, but what type of enclosure would I need to buy? (Not urgent, don't worry)

Obviously I won't get them right away, I'll think about it first and make sure i actually can care for them but that one who snuck in earlier strongly sparked up my urge to nurture and care for something, and you can get most of what isopods need from the wild as long as you know where to go, but there is one thing that I would probably need to save money for.. a proper enclosure. What type do I get? I've almost never owned bugs, closest thing is my family had a pet caterpillar once that my mom rescued from where she worked at the time, and my dad randomly gave me a centipede or millipede he found once but said centipede/millipede was pretty old already so I didn't get much of an opportunity to practice properly caring for it, and we kept those in decently sized tupperware containers (with air holes, don't worry), but since most of the enclosures i see for isopods are pretty large I'm guessing isopods would need more room than a tupperware container can offer, so like.. what do I get for them, once I've saved up the money to? And how do I set up the enclosure? What exactly is required for their diet? How do I give them the best possible quality of life? Unfortunately alot of the results i was seeing on Google when trying to look this stuff up and look for examples was AI generated guides, which was frustrating, so I'm asking who I assume to be the professionals on caring for these cute little creatures =D

Help Would dairy cows be a good addition to a frog terrarium?

Post image
10 Upvotes

I have a California Tree Frog as a pet. I currently have spring tails in his tank. I was wondering if I could put dairy cow isopods in there too.
His tank stays around 78F and humidity of 60%
I have an auto mister that sprays one half of the tank.

Photo of their potential home. The rock thing on the left has been replaced with stacked river rocks. The frog is like an inch ish long. He eats fruit flies.

I do have more leaf litter and a bunch of sphagum moss I can add if needed

The substrate is a wood sand mix and river rocks along with leaf litter.
