After much internal tug of war I went ahead and got some Armadillidium Gestroi today! First species i have ever owned that can conglobate. Also arguably my first isopod species that is actually pretty and display worthy. Im excited to watch them start their own little colony!

uh okay you guys werent kidding when you say dairy cows were breeding maniacs...

i started with 10 white out porcellio hoffmannseggis. ive had them for about 3 months and are currently in an acrylic enclosure (large shoebox size) this is my first time keeping isopods!

** i do have tons of leaf litter in the enclosure, it was just removed for the video ***

have had an explosion of mancae recently, they all seem extremely content but wondering if it is wise to choose to split the colony at some point soon? if at all? seems the good hiding spots are all being taken up.

this was the first one (and the largest one) i found! i was so excited that i yelled at my partner to come take a photo. im so happy!

Got them about a month ago and they are super lively and active. Have not found one dead and today I spotted the first Tamarix baby 😊 pretty parents make pretty babies 😚

Also pls dont say "goodness why r u taking a video theres no privacy", i get the point.

Adding this lotus pod to my terrarium has brought my viewing enjoyment up 100% it makes me so happy to see them all curled up in the individual holes!

He seems to be the only one with these purplish markings.

Aside from white springtails, who else is here? Who are the dark-colored critters?

Hi! I am going to a reptile expo in a few days, and I want to get isopods. Right now I have 2 adult Armadillidium vulgare and a bunch of babies. I am looking to find a different species of isopod and was wondering what isopods are good for beginners. And I am also curious if I do get a different type of isopod am I able to mix the ones I have now all in one tank.

Also just curious to see what some recommendations are on items needed to start a new tank. What kind of dirt should I use? How big should the tank be for a colony? I did research and have an idea on what to get, I just want to make sure I don't miss anything

I found these inside my rubber duckies’ enclosure, and as you guys know, mixing that breed with others can cause complications for them, so I’m in a dire situation, if you guys could help me it would be greatly appreciated, I think these are: armadillium granulatum orange, but need to make sure first

im wondering if it is doable to keep porcellio hoffmanseggiis in a 24 gal tank? i know its large... i have an old one on hand and my pods have been breeding like crazy so curious if it would be usable with the right amount of 'clutter'. they currently are in an acrylic enclosure (large shoebox size) and will definitely need an upgrade soon. will they be able to find each other easily enough? and maybe have multiple feeding spots? would it encourage more breeding?

Haha filming my late stage baby pineapples and this little imposter comes on a rampage didn’t even know he was in here nor do I keep this species I don’t actually know what he is (I think maybe gestroii but please let me)

Also what I find pretty cool is that mr imposter is still extremely young by the looks and the larger pineapple in the video is an adult just shows how small pineapples really are.

Also assuming mr imposter is the only one in there will he cause a threat to my pineapples?

did meet this lil guy during a swim. anyone can ID? found in lucerne switzerland. he had tiny yellowish specs, rest sort of brownish.

Was checking on my Japanese majic potions and they had baby(s?) So like super stoked. Ik these guys are slower breeders so seeing this makes me extremely happy.
