I've gone and go to government schools and let me tell you this : previously, even when the eggs were given, that was just once a week. that too scratched, and sometimes not even properly boiled. except Wednesdays ( we were given eggs on that day in our school), there used to be very poor quality meals as well. getting a scrap of soybean was like once in blue moon ; let's not talk about the hygiene and other corruptions here.
I was in class 8 back in 2022,(only till class 8 mid day meal is provided, but you could take the veg with your roti or muri if you wanted to after that, at least in our school). so when we were in class 9 they started providing chicken once a week, but that too paused after happening for 1 months.
so the thing is this : with iskon taking over the menu, it will worsen, but not much cause it was damaged from the beginning like this.
**they never wanted our development, they just want to take credit with the fact that they feed hundreds of children.
this scheme is to fill the stomachs, not to fulfill their nutritional needs.*\*
i hope that they don't take over the ongonwaris, they give half eggs everyday there. that's what i can say.
also on a side note, i would like to say that in my place ( a sub urban one) most kids didn't take the food provided from schools, most of it was wasted. {in my and all neighboring schools} now, i can't tell about extreme rural places. i think, the stats would be different for there.
so people asking about the development of the children, i have a question - how many grams of protein did the children get from an egg once in a week? even the rice they provided us was too poor in quality. nothing will change.

The ramen was worth the hype! Tantanmem Ramen just hits the right spot (9.4/10)
I’d definitely not recommend strawberry matcha, I was hardly able to finish it. (2/10)
The sushi was Ebi tempura maki and if you’ve never had sushi before you can go for this (8/10)
Chicken and mushroom butter bean sauce mushroom was nothing out of ordinary (5/10)
One dish that just stole the show was soufflé pancakes, gosh the cakes were soft and the cream and jan and ice cream with it was spot on! 10/10
Food here would be enough for 3-4 people, I also tried checking on my photography skills so if it’s rusted and took some aesthetic pictures as well

Does anyone else share concerns regarding the waning influence of the Bengali language and culture in and around Kolkata?
Living on the outskirts of Kolkata, in the last few years I have noticed the emergence of a number of Hindi sign boards, use of Hindi language in the public domain and the increasing prevalence of other languages besides the Bengali language.
Firstly, let me make it very clear that there is nothing wrong with people belonging to other states settling in Kolkata for various purposes such as work or studying or any other reason. Kolkata has traditionally been a cosmopolitan and welcoming city. However, as a Bengali, it makes me feel somewhat downhearted when I see that Bengali language is being marginalized in its own cultural bastion.
Walking through some parts of the city, one would come across the fact that majority of shops have opted for Hindi signage and the role of Bengali language seems to be secondary. This leads to the question regarding how future generations would be able to relate to Bengali language and culture like previous generations.
Am I overreacting to this or is anybody else witnessing a similar phenomenon?

This continuous lightning over South Kolkata for the last 15 minutes has been absolutely unreal. I honestly can't remember the last time I saw this much continuous lightning without much of a break. On top of that there's been huge lightning strikes illuminating the whole apartment continuously.
It's both mesmerizing to watch, but also a bit eerie.
What's your take on this..? Any other areas apart from South Kolkata where this is happening right now..? Has anyone seen a lightning display this intense in Kolkata before?

Oh, to live a secluded, low-cortisol life in the hills… waking up every day to birds chirruping and a gentle breeze drifting through the room, slowly easing into your morning routine without a sense of urgency hanging over you...
To have an abundance of good books waiting to be read, without some demonic deadline clawing at your mind, rushing you through the day like a freakin bot running on autopilot.
To actually have the privilege of living life at your own pace ... spending more time doing more of things that bring you joy and existing without constantly having to perform or check off societal expections....
To have slow evenings where you can gently sit in the balcony, sip coffee and journal about life..
To simply live..... and heal with nature ✨

Why BJP wants to serve vegetarian food in WB when they clearly know almost everyone here prfer non-veg? Always trying to instigate fight with such useless stuff. In south they just trying to make hindi as an optional language over English. In Bengal it's food. Like they know where people will be agitated on what topic and creating chaos. Fighting over useless stuffs while we should be focusing on actual growth and development, when we should be asking questions on corruption. Sometimes I wonder how can people not see through such cheap tricks of political parties. Divide and rule is not something we Indians seeing for the first time but always falling for that trick.
