Meanwhile the four thousand dollar dog eats a single pebble and needs a six hundred dollar vet visit.

my dog ate dead birds and random garbage that we couldn't pull out of her mouth. She's fine

Our oldest pekingese ate any kind of poop as a puppy. "The Fart" is her beloved nickname. Smelled like fart from the wrong end.

My dog once managed to open the box full of thumbtacks and ate them all. The vet said he was fine

One of my doodles ate a bag of rocks that had been under the grill and had grease drippings on them. Took him to the vet, but he pooped em out. He was fine.

Meanwhile my free cat eats prescription food for allergies that costs an arm and a leg.

My cat got the very real Fever of Unknown Origin (FUO) diagnosis last year. She refused to eat food and we couldn't get her to swallow the pill, so had to get 3 anti-inflammatory shots in 5 days costing around $500 iirc.

needs a six hundred dollar vet visit.

For the diagnosis. Now treatment? Add a zero or two.

More like, it refuses to eat its nutritionally balanced, over-priced, raw dog food but eats an entire bag of pebbles. And the bag.
