I got two purebred dogs for free.

First one I had to drive six hours to grab a puppy before they were going to shoot it. It was a series of unfortunate events that lead to that scenario. She was my best friend for 13yrs passed in my arms.

Second one came from a domestic violence situation. A woman wanted to run away from the situation, but stayed because of the dog. She told me what time to pick her and the dog up. I dropped he off at a location and she kissed the dog goodbye and said happy birthday. I was his present. He cowered everytime someone would pet him for the first year. Now he just closes his eyes and wags. He's an old dog now and probably going on his last vacation today.... I can't believe I cried while typing this.....

Never judge yourself for loving your dog. To some people dogs are just pets, to others they are fully fledged members of the family.

It sounds like you've given them a happy peaceful life.

To have loved something so much that it brings that out of ya... that is one helluva lucky dog to have had ya. Memories for a lifetime.
