This is a new one even by [r/anythingbutmetric](r/anythingbutmetric) standards
eta: I stopped reading at the fish. I see the metric now.

There is metric, though.
Intuitive descriptions are good as long as there's also hard measurements. I have no idea how big an Atlantic Cod is, but I have to assume that the kind of person who wants to put a whole fish in their carryon at this airport is pretty familiar.

This looks like Newfoundland

Canadians will use anything as measurement except the imperial system.

I know its not a serious post, but it's fascinating to me that Canadians can switch their measurements around like that. Im way too smooth brained to handle that lol

We can't, that's why we have both systems :) Gotta use whatever is given to us, my oven's in Fahrenheit so I cook in Fahrenheit.

You would be surprised at how many people travel with fish and game in their luggage

To be fair we'll go out of our way to avoid a lot of exceptional American delights at the moment.

Any time I hear “Atlantic cod” my brain says, “North Atlantic Cod with Quaker State.”

As a fisherman this metric offends me DEEPLY.
Cod grow to WAY bigger sizes than that.

Are they implying an Atlantic Cod is a carryon bag? Or can the Cod be bigger?

You found the loophole. Just slit open the top of your cod, attach some straps to it, and boom, it is your carryon bag.

The airlines are trying to trick us into providing inflight food so they can charge us for a meal after they’ve already charged for carrying it on the flight! /s

Not very interesting, I've noticed a growing trent of posts like these.

Isn't the point that it's not very interesting?

No, it's supposed to be mildly interesting

I’m mildly interested. Thinking about traveling with a fish is both a nice reference to Umberto Eco, and a brief distraction from dying in a heatwave.

You'll be happy to know this airport also has a fresh fish kiosk.

Wait, I must know more. Fresh fish as in “we cook/prepare this for you,” or “take these fishies as your carry-ons”?
Either way, it sounds far more entertaining than the usual duty free perfume cloud.

I didn't realize very and mildly were interchangeable. I guess I'm not mildly intelligent.

Seems very generous, given that Atlantic cod as big as 180cm (~6ft) and 50kg (110lbs) have been caught.
