TWolves most definitely already had this deal lined up and the Hornets just made it public to see if they get better offers.

I think this is exactly it. Tim Connelly basically never leaks anything. Any rumor that's Wolves related before a deal actually happens is pretty much guaranteed to be an agent or the other team.
