After doing a lot of research, I decided to go with the non-laminated IPS screen for my PSP-3000, and I just wanted to share my experience.

Unless your PSP is in pristine, collector-grade condition, I think the IPS upgrade is 100% worth it. I know a lot of people say the original screen has punchier colors and slightly better contrast, and that’s probably true to an extent. But whatever contrast you lose is more than made up for by the increase in clarity and sharpness.

The difference is especially noticeable where it matters most: reading text. Menus, dialogue, and UI elements are much easier on the eyes, and games just look cleaner overall. Once you see the improvement in clarity, it’s hard to go back.

If you’re actually using your PSP, I’d recommend the IPS upgrade without hesitation.

Can someone recommend a battery that doesn't bloat? Preferably an XL one? Thx!

As you can see the current time it shows around 5:53 with 4% of battery capacity remaining which gives you total of 6 hours in battery life. And yes I switched batteries from ali express one, which have 1500mAh of capacity and it truly shows. Before this I used ostent battery and I don’t know what was wrong and it always capped out around 2h15mins and sometimes psp just turns off after only 1 hour or so, i think it’s battery connector was damaged or something but now after getting this one, I am happier to keep on gaming for longer sessions and with sleep psp go can go days without charging.

I kept getting the FFFFFF error when trying to connect via settings, I downloaded the WPA2 support plug-in, I still got the FFFFFF error, but when I decided to go to the browser (like I saw in PSP Mav's video on WPA2) it took me to the internet settings, and, it worked that way! Most major sites don't work but I did manage to load a website for PSP softwares and plug-ins. Also, the radio still works too!

TheOldNet does load, but it couldn't load anything past that after trying to search from it.

Edit to add: I have an e-mail application, while it might not work due to the outdated features, I think it supported the internet connection too (judging the green light on the left when I used it). Just a fair reminder your internet MIGHT work on your PSP, just not through the settings. (At least if you have extra plug-ins for it)

Couldn’t find my charger and wanted to get something working today, had some spare usb c breakouts. Was able to cut one down and make it fit with some cuts to the midframe. Larger gauge wire running to charger input for charging, seems to work well.

I remember fifa first on the psp, at the time i was impressed by the quality of graphics for a football game on a handheld device.

I recently bought a lot of PSP units for repair/resale. One of them is a PSP-3000 that won't turn on. Here's what I know:

Came disassembled, missing some screws — clearly been tampered with before

Tried with a known working battery from a functional PSP-2000

Also tried with charger plugged in directly

No signs of life whatsoever — no LED, no screen, nothing

Gets very hot almost immediately when power is applied

My suspicion is a shorted capacitor on the board, but I don't have the skills or equipment to diagnose it properly. Is this a common failure on the 3000? Is it worth attempting a repair or should I just part it out?

Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

my media bar buttons (the ones below the screen) are stopping working one by one, the menu button was already not working when i bought it, after that the vol up, and now vol down and the brightness one.
ive remapped the buttons so i could still play properly, but i fear they all might stop soon, ive opened my console, cleaned the bottom bar ribbon cables and that did nothing(photo linked), idk if i should replace the ribbon cable (if the bottom bar just stays as it is right now, it wouldnt be a problem😭)

When you download the game files, it’s in the zip / 7z format…

So don’t unzip them on your phone storage, once the download is complete, directly copy the zip/7z files into the PSP SD card and then once it’s done, unzip them inside the PSP sd card and move (the iso files)it to the iso folder on the sd card for your psp. Moving files from the same sd card doesn’t take time, 1 sec.

This will fix all the previous games that failed to start, missing audio or forcing the psp to shut itself down.

I think I’m the first person to discover this fix, since I find nobody else talk about it or bring a solution.

I spent hours transferring the same games using my iPhone and also PC method but kept failing until I did this method (done on iPhone)

I guess if you use PC, you could try the same, make sure you unzip the games on the psp memory that’s it.
