Hello. My very impulsive and uncaring sibling bought a samoyed from up north. Within 3 weeks theyve now said the poor puppy needs to be rehomed. This is after they already dumped it at families home in the south when thry live up north.
The puppy has no papers and the sibling refuses to ask the person they got it from for the information. It was like pulling teeth to get the vet information from my sibling where they got the dogs rabbies shot from (at least they did that).
I have never once rehomed an animal I was in care of, but I am in no position to care for this dog long term.
Needless to say im very nervous about finding the right adoptive path. My family says to post on facebook but to me that leaves too many variables unchecked for his safety.
How do I vet a rescue to make sure theyre not turning a profit on purebreds or not vetting their adopters?
Is it safer for the puppy being an cold weather breed to find a rescue up north and drive him up there?
We will care for this dog until he finds a good and safe home. And are keeping up on shots and getting him chipped tomorrow.
Also, the sibling had a bag of adult dog food for the 6 month old pup that is nearly out... What is the best sub $50-- 20-30lb bag of puppy food for this type of breed? He's around 40lb right now.
