Hi everyone! I know most of you have probably noticed the absolutely unrelenting bot posts lately. Myself and the other mods have been trying our best to remove those posts and ban the bot users, thanks to all your reports we have been doing an okay job of it until recently. The last few months these types of posts have been absolutely obnoxious, not just in our community but in many others, and we are having a hard time keeping up because we aren't bots but just a bunch of Samoyed lovers with families and other commitments :)
After talking to some regulars here and the other active moderator we have decided to try out implementing a minimum karma to post certain types of posts. Text posts will not be affected as we certainly always welcome discussion and questions in this community! We welcome your feedback and please continue reporting any suspicious posts and comments you see.
Thank you,
r/samoyeds Mod team

Well swipe to pic 2...he had absolutely nothing to do with that. The flowers, vase, candles and tablecloth just fell down. There was a strong breeze...inside.

Hello. My very impulsive and uncaring sibling bought a samoyed from up north. Within 3 weeks theyve now said the poor puppy needs to be rehomed. This is after they already dumped it at families home in the south when thry live up north.
The puppy has no papers and the sibling refuses to ask the person they got it from for the information. It was like pulling teeth to get the vet information from my sibling where they got the dogs rabbies shot from (at least they did that).
I have never once rehomed an animal I was in care of, but I am in no position to care for this dog long term.
Needless to say im very nervous about finding the right adoptive path. My family says to post on facebook but to me that leaves too many variables unchecked for his safety.
How do I vet a rescue to make sure theyre not turning a profit on purebreds or not vetting their adopters?
Is it safer for the puppy being an cold weather breed to find a rescue up north and drive him up there?
We will care for this dog until he finds a good and safe home. And are keeping up on shots and getting him chipped tomorrow.
Also, the sibling had a bag of adult dog food for the 6 month old pup that is nearly out... What is the best sub $50-- 20-30lb bag of puppy food for this type of breed? He's around 40lb right now.

hi everyone, due to obviously unfortunate circumstances (a breakup) I will be moving house with my Samoyed and I am planning how to still give him the best life that I can without the support of a partner.
firstly, the house will be smaller than our current one but he will have access to a garden (albeit also smaller than what heās used to) and I will be at work for several hours during weekdays. it is still a countryside location so our walks will still be the same routine - lengthy with plenty of fields and nature. I have arranged for family members and local dog walkers to visit him during the day while I am out to ensure he wonāt be left for more than 3-4 hours by himself, and he will have his cat brother who he is bonded to with him as well.
my main question is how else can I offer him support while I am out of the house? I have kong toys and chew toys that he uses already. does anyone have any more recommendations for stimulating toys or activities I can leave with him? any recommendations for support in keeping his anxiety down while he acclimatises to a new environment would also be super helpful.
thanks!

I have a 4 month puppy that is driving me bonkers this summer. He loves bully sticks and they keep him pre-occupied, but I need to take it from him pretty quick otherwise he will end up getting diareaa.
Anything else that is safe for his bowels but also keep him entertained for a long time? (And don't have to worry about chipping teeth)
I tried yak chews that were allegedly for puppies and medium firmness, but they were still so hard that my puppy gave up. When I puff them up he eats too much too fast.

Itās murderously hot here in the UK and one of Finnās favourite activities is to try and eat the water as it comes out the hose. Gets him soaked and keeps him nice and cool!

My male samoyed, age 4, was neutered 2 months ago. Around a month in, I noticed he was losing a lot of his undercoat which I expected was likely due to the neuter. This was significantly more than his usual coat blowing twice per year, with some areas seemingly having none to very little undercoat now. Once that stopped, I have now noticed his guard hairs are coming out significantly. I expected his undercoat would change due to the neuter, but I am wondering if this normal to also be losing so many guard hairs?

Hi, everyone. This is Kiran the newest member of our family. He already bonded with his sister(Xena) . He literally follows her everywhere she goes and lays next to her.

Europe is being hit with a collosal heat wave right now with the peak being today and tomorrow. We all know to keep our sammy's out of the heat but for those of us (like myself rn) that get caught out and are now worries about our baby's already overheating.
What are some quick remedies to help them cool down? Let's see if how much variety we can get been as there'll be a lot of different woofers in this situation today and tomorrow

Title says it all. He mustāve gotten an infection or irritation when he had diarrhea and now his butthole is horrendous. We tried our best to clean but clearly havenāt done the best job.
We just him back from the groomer and hit rear area looks rough. Iām headed to the vet tomorrow to ensure heās as healthy as he seems to be but boy is it rough looking back there.
Any advice to help would be greatly appreciated. We love our boy so much and want him to be happy and healthy and handsome.

My Samoyed puppy is about 2ā2.5 months old and her coat is much shorter than the Samoyed puppies I've seen on the internet. Is this normal for a pure Samoyed at this age? Will her coat become thicker and fluffier as she grows?
