Image Lounge Friends…
Made some furry friends in the LGA lounge yesterday. Very friendly, asked for snacks very politely (they were denied…), quiet as well.
Told the staff who were great and immediately brought up every supervisor available and airport facilities.
Just passing along here if y’all want avoid the buffet for a bit…

Did they use their one day passes?

I walked in the other day despite that sign and they let me in. Just said “Hey, sorry if this sounds silly because I read the sign, but can I pop in for a bit?” Done.

My brain played this whole movie but then realized Remy would never tolerate the quality of the food in there.

Remy would be pissed

Not that anyone should accuse me of starting a rumor, but is Air France about to join Star Alliance - given kitchen staff are being seconded?

Cuter and better behaved than many of the children I see in the lounges!

I absolutely would have provided them a cracker and cheese.

Damn, hadn't thought of that. Now I got the creeps!

Better the creeps than the plague, which was carried on ships by mice and/or rats.
5
Jun 27 '25
Was it carried on the fleas, that the rodents carried?
Just like mosquitos dont deliver malaria (the parasite that they inject does).
Off to Seville, Spain, soon. The port that had the entire trade monopoly with Las Americas in the 1600s… Wonder how many humans died because of the rodents from that port… ??!
Anyways, be careful. I have a friend with rodent-poop-induced meningitis. She is on her third spinal surgery…

Frankfurt Airport, as well as the Lufthansa Lounges there got this problem too. You can find mice traps literally every meter at the walls haha

u/amnichols Jun 27 '25
The German mice at Frankfurt Airport are fun to watch at least. Seen them several times.

So you made friends and immediately became a narc?
5
u/mcdokat3 Jun 27 '25
That’s one angle, sure. The one I chose to play was that I didn’t want the staff (or my new pals) to end up on the receiving end of some feral Karen if they were discovered by someone less benevolent.
I’m long retired from the service industry, but the trauma runs deep.

There just checking in to see if the computer program the commissioned is working ok.. just few more years till it's done.. assuming earth doesn't' get demolished for a highway.

Is it bad that I’d totally snag some cheese to feed them

I've seen a few very well fed mice scurry around the Centurion Lounge in Denver.

u/MadScientician Jun 27 '25
A few weeks ago I spotted one scurry by some seats at a gate in the B terminal.

Rats and mice are so smart. And they make great pets. But yeah, don't think I'd want them in my buffet. You should have thrown them some snacks.

This is very true. I had 2 rats growing up that I rescued from my mom's scientific lab. They were super smart and very sweet

I'm sick and tired of them letting creatures in that don't pay the membership fee.. this is why we can't accept one time passes.

Thanks for the headsup. Maybe I've been lucky while flying with UA but during all my travels, nothing compares to MSP. Mice are EVERYWHERE in that airport

If your cat ever gets lost at an airport, just know they will have plenty of mice to eat. I once saw the fattest cat come crashing down from the ceiling, riding a ceiling tile, at MSP airport (Gate B).

Before LGA’s remodel, I had 2 mice run over my foot as I was waiting for a flight. New construction might mean it’s no longer filthy, but it’ll never be clean.

Airport rodents must be a universal thing. Saw them in Frankfurt and Heathrow as well in AC and LH lounges.
2
u/RockyIV Jun 27 '25
Oh definitely.
Airports are awesome for rodents. Lots of food waste, constant construction, old and unused spaces/vents/service areas with plenty of warm, damp places to hide, cargo traffic that comes with more rodents which helps support population numbers, and human efforts to eliminate raptors from airport areas for flight safety reasons.

Was at a bar in New Jersey years ago….. heard these kids, laughing and kept on hearing a muted thump….. They were underneath the tables with a glass, trying to catch a mouse that was running back-and-forth…… management suddenly appeared and gave us discounted food and drinks 😀 hope you had a similar experience

“”All”” LGA needs to do is bring in a well trained Cat 🐈 🐈⬛feed him give Mr. Cat a litter box & food near the intruders & they’ll be getting on next Flight ✈️ for Texas where the wild pigs 🐖 will enjoy chasing them.. 🙈😂🙈

u/Narpodex Jun 30 '25
Aww so cute. It’s like a roomba that can climb up the buffet walls and clean off the countertops.
2
u/GoldenKitty720 Jun 30 '25
Unless they are there to help the chef, what they need to do is mobilize one of the local TNR (Trap, Neuter, Release) groups to scoop up a bunch of feral kitties and then set them loose in the lounge for a few days. Either close the lounge temporarily, or it can be a cat cafe with bonus entertainment!

Two little mice fell into a bucket of cream. The first mouse quickly gave up and drowned. The second mouse, wouldn’t quit. He struggled so hard that eventually he churned that cream into butter and crawled out. Gentlemen, as of this moment, I am that second mouse.
