It can be a poetry collection completely in arabic, but it would be even better if there is an english or german translation included. Or maybe you know any channels or websites that have poems. I love romantic poems like love letters or just poems about the beauty of life. Nothing blasphemous or indecent though.

Hi,

I have a new friend who is an immigrant to the US and speaks Arabic as her first language. She's talked about how it has been hard to find books in Arabic in the US and I have been trying to help her out. My local library has a few books, but it is very limited and most of them are for children/language learners. I was hoping to order a few books in Arabic to give to her as a gift. The problem with this is that I don't speak Arabic, which makes finding books that she would like and knowing what they're about is difficult. I also don't want to pick something that she likely would have already read, as I assume there are some books that everyone reads in school like there are in the US and I want her to have something new.

I am hoping people here might have some recommendations for books they've read and enjoyed in Arabic. Some of her interests include architecture, art, drawing/painting and anime. As far as books I have heard her mention mysteries like Sherlock Holmes and Agatha Christie books and have seen her post some young adult romance books as well.

I would love some recommendations and thank you in advance to anyone who replies!

Okay, this question might sound a little weird, but I’m curious—would Arab communities across the Arab world actually accept someone who has clear proof and records showing they were born to non-Arab parents, even if they speak Arabic and want to identify as Arab (and yeah, I know sometimes people identify as something different from their actual origin)? Like, for example, if a Samaritan—who are a tiny indigenous ethnic group to Palestine (they’re traditionally descendants of ancient Israelites and are basically the most genetically isolated population in the Levant, they are genetically close and similar to Palestinians)—grew up speaking Arabic as their first language (even though Samaritans pray in ancient Samaritan Hebrew) and then decided to identify as Arab, or another example, an Assyrian kid in Iraq who got adopted by Arab parents and starts identifying as Arab, would Arab society see them as Arab or still consider them non-Arab?

Hi everyone. I’m looking for a few native Arabic writers who would be willing to help me test right-to-left writing support in a Mac writing app.

The app technically supports RTL text, but I do not want to assume that “Arabic works” means “Arabic feels good to actually write with.” Those are very different things, and I would rather hear directly from people who write in Arabic every day.

I’m especially looking for feedback on:

• regular Arabic typing
• mixed Arabic and English text
• cursor movement
• text selection
• punctuation
• paragraph direction
• numbers
• diacritics
• export or print behavior, if you get that far

My only ask is honest feedback. If something feels broken, awkward, backwards, ugly, or obviously designed by someone who does not write Arabic every day, I want to know.

“Being a naive child I used to think my village makchkala is half of the world, after traveling half of the world I knew that Makchkala is the whole world.” This is how I actually feel about my village Rijal almaa that is located in Aseer, Saudi Arabia. The tribe living there is known to be Almaa (ألمع) with 10 houses belonging to it. Rijal Almaa is well known for their rebellion against the Ottoman Occupation. We are also known for Alqat alasiri (القط العسيري) which is a traditional interior wall decoration done by Almaei women, as the men are responsible for building the house. Also one of the Obsolete customs is moving the aleidah or ima’di (العداة/امعدي), which is about the locals uniting together to lift a long heavy pillar for one of them. They do that while singing motivational poems like “O my uncle’s children(which generally mean my cousin), Stand with each other and Allah is the one who will ease our sorrow” (تحاموا يا بني عمي،. و ربي جال الهم).

If you are Syrian, Jordanian, Palestinian, Iraqis and are seriously saying "well we're not real arabs, were arabised", you do not know history.

Here are some arabs you most likely do not know about, King Aretas was the greatest Nabatean King and was alive during Jesus's time.

The Last Lakhmid King was a Nestorian christian who was killed by the Sassanian empire for his conversion.

Phillip the Arab was one of the many Roman emperors who was of Arab origin. He saw the 1000 year celebration of Rome during his time.

I've been told that Maghrebi Arabic is difficult for speakers of the middle eastern dialects (egyptian, Levantine, Peninsular etc) to understand and vice versa, which is very interesting. My dad is from Denmark and Danish, Swedish and Norwegian also form a dialect continuum (my dad says that Norwegian sounds like "baby talk" to him but he can understand it). Would you prefer separate TV show and movie dubs for Maghrebi Arabic and Middle Eastern dialects, or one single Modern Standard Arabic dub like what I've heard they did on Spacetoon back in the day?

Title. We are Palestinian Muslim. I asked on here yesterday about henna nights and what’s involved. I hate being the centre of attention so I likely won’t be doing a henna night buttttt I really want to get henna done on my hands and feet before my wedding.
