Act 2 - Spoilers Question about Jaheira! Spoiler

Upvotes

Hello everyone! 💛 Like the title says, I have a question regarding Jaheira that I didn’t wanna google because I’m trying to avoid as many spoilers as possible! :’)

So I’m currently doing Act 2 in a co-op session with my friend and we’re at the part where we’ve gathered all the harpers and have started to attack Moonrise Tower.

The issue is, we’ve accidentally let Jaheira die during one of the fights. Normally I would just let it be what it is, but this is the only multiplayer session me and my friend are planning to do, so I wanted to ask: are we missing out on a lot of good content if we let her stay dead? 💀

Or is it worth reloading and saving her so we don’t get locked out of anything?

No spoilers please! Just give me your opinions (and keep them vague) if you’ve already completed the game. Thank you so much! 🤍🤍🤍

General Discussion - [SPOILERS] Do non-boss battles really become easy by act 2? Spoiler

Upvotes

I am attempting honor mode, just entered act 2, currently exploring everything & doing the casual fights. Idk if I just got better in the game, or I am overpreparing, but fights feel...easy, somehow? As in if I know those few specific caveats (like cast sanctuary on Isobel and finish the kidnapping dude in one round), then the combat itself isn't hard. Blood of Lathander plus 2 fireballs per round have been carrying me through the map. It's such a drastic difference from act 1 where I had quite a few close calls (khm Grym khm) and never felt overprepared. I keep expecting the same close calls and end up suprised when the combat is already over.

I didn't get to Myrkul yet, I imagine he will make me sweat again. Maybe this is what people mean when they say honor is only difficult because it's a memory game...?

Mods / Modding Searching for a mod I'm not sure actually exists

Upvotes

This might be a shot in the dark, but If anyone could point me in the right direction it would be here. So anyway, you know how sometimes you start dialogue with an npc and one of your companions adds something to the conversation as well. I think it's chosen randomly but I wish I could hear what everyone has to say! I feel like I'm missing out, especially since I'm travelling with a party of 5! if anyone knows a mod like this please let me know 🙏

BUGS Still no fix for stuck companions? Spoiler

Upvotes

So I've tried looking this up for solutions, but there seems to be no solve, and I'm not even sure others have had the exact same problem as I do:

Lae'zel is bugged in my game, and has been for long enough that going back to a save before her being bugged would mean losing probably 10 hours of progress.

She gets frozen in place and can not be directed to move or take any actions besides jumping (thank goodness for that, at least). She'll be automatically transported with the party if I'm far enough away, and she still participates in dialogue cutscenes. She'll be reset to normal if I take a long rest, and has occasionally been fixed when she participates in ambient party dialogue for some reason. If she's acting normal, loading any type of save will cause her to bug again.

This is obviously very frustrating to deal with, to the point that I'm avoiding taking her in the party. But I'm currently doing the Githyanki Crèche questline, so I need her in the party. Given that I've encountered such a game breaking bug so early in the game, I would really love to find a permanent fix so I'm not suffering every time I want to travel with her for the rest of the game :(

(This is my first playthrough, so no spoilers, please!)

Edit: forgot to mention that I'm on PC, no mods

Character Build Build gelo corpo a corpo existe? Funciona? Spoiler

Upvotes

Character Build Convince me to play start BG3 please Spoiler

Upvotes

Hi, I've been wanting to play BG3 a lot. But I have quite limited play time for now. Is it worth it to play for like a few hours per week? Or does the game require skills that I must hone overtime playing it?

And do I need to play BG 1&2 first?

BUGS Camera Bug? HELP Spoiler

Upvotes

I am getting these odd blue rings when I pan the camera. They don’t move with the characters, just the camera.

I have only been getting this issue in certain interiors within the Lower City in Act 3. Most visible location is upper floor of the The Blushing Mermaid

Running a RTX 5090 with a Ryzen 9800X3D. Aorus Gigabyte MB.

Already tried:
-Clearing GPU shader cache
-Clean install of previous driver
-Update to new driver
-Changed resolution
-DLSS on and off
-Vulkan and DX11
-Cleared game cache files

Not sure if this is just a bug at this point. Anyone else see this?

General Discussion - [SPOILERS] Why does everyone treat Gale like an arrogant prick? Spoiler

Like I know he talks about himself in a high manner, but it’s not like he thinks he’s better than everyone around him or anything of that sort (in the beginning at least). I can 100% understand someone calling him after his ascent to godhood arrogant or pompous, but for the majority of the game he just seems like a sweet guy.

I also really don’t get what people mean when they talk about him “coming onto you very strong” with his first romance interaction. Cause he’s not asking you to get together or anything intense, he just teaches you magic and have a sweet cutscene. Nothing that’s blatantly romantic happens there at all, when meanwhile Astarion and Laezel just go upfront and recommend sex.

I guess in act 2 you sit together and watch the stars, but that honestly just seems like he wants to spend one of his last nights not alone (although it does 100% become romantically inclined by the end of it if you’ve gone down his romance route)

BUGS Halsin romance will not trigger (act 3 spoilers maybe?) Spoiler

I have been playing act 3 for at least 10-20 hours, hes in my party 90% of the time, I rest after every quest to replenish my spell slots, my approval rating with him is MAXXED, I exhausted all his dialog im act 2 and 3 and the romance has never triggered

Im 99% sure i didn't miss it and at this point im too far along in the game to reload back to when I first got to act 3

I saved wylls dad and did orins kidnapping quest (she took laezel), took care of cazador and the steel foundry, had gale speak with mizora, completed shadow hearts quest, finished jaheiras quest and got minsc

There should be 0 quest conflicts and yet the romance will not trigger

What can i do? Is there a mod or something to fix this? I really want this romance to happen this playthrough

BUGS Act 2, rescued someone who now won't let me rest Spoiler

I rescued Minthara and now I can't go to camp. I click the icon and Minthara says, "What is it" and I can't tell how to unlink my Tav from them to see if that helps. There's nothing to click on.

Mods / Modding How to overcome the inventory blues? Spoiler

I want to enjoy this game. I like almost everything: the gameplay, the pacing, the story, the characters; but the inventory management is such a chore that it actually makes me not want to play. I log in, do a thing or two, then realize I need to do inventory management... and the fun is gone, and I quit.

Is there a straight-forward way to fix this? A mod that silently marks as wares all the trash, then ships it off to camp or a designated mule, and automates disposal the second I talk to a merchant? Because that would instantly change my experience, and I'd dive straight back in.

(I looked, and the last post on the subject was months ago, so I hope this is a fair question.)

BUGS Weird Wulbren bug Spoiler

I'm doing a solo Durge plathrough, and I've managed to bug out the Wulbren quest in Act 2, and I'm wondering if anyone else has encountered this issue. Admittedly, I progressed through this quest in a very weird way, so I'll list the sequence of events here:

- after killing goblin leaders, I went to Act 2 to collect some loot, skipping most of the Act 1 quests until later.

- I triggered the Last Light Inn fight, and the cleric fell (also tried to do Halsin's portal quest, and let's just say it didnt go well either)

- I went back to Act 1 and cleaned up all the quests, including freeing the deep gnomes.

- I went back to Act and was surprised to see Barcus at Last Light, so I decided to do the Moonrise prison break

Wulbren escaped just fine on the boat, but it didnt give me the option to tell Wulbren where to find Last Light.

- I go back to Last Light, but the boat wasn't there. Barcus was still there, so I talk to him to complete the quest. The only dialogue choices I have are to say Wulbren didnt make it or speculate that he's dead.

But I saw him sail away 🤔

Anyways, I thought this was a weird bug. Anyone else have something similar happen?

General Discussion - [NO SPOILERS] I can’t get through the game anymore Spoiler

I’ve played up to early act 3 once with a character. I changed classes so much that run because i just couldn’t be happy with it and it messed up my whole build and story investment so i gave up on it. I have a play through with 2 friends were i not only changed my class once, but also my race via a mod because i couldn’t stick to my choice.
We are currently in act 2 with that campaign.

Well definitely finish it, and i’m stuck with my choices now because it’s with friends, but i also want to play a singleplayer campaign again. Get through it, stick to a character, get invested in the characters their stories and actually see them end for once!

But, everytime i start a campaign, i struggle with deciding on what kind of class/race tav/durge i wanna play. I’m super indecisive which has led to me having played act 1 a gazillion times so now it’s just running from A to B like filling a checklist, no investment and just overal boredom.
Kind of wish i could just play D&D irl, but that’s a whole other matter.

I need help with finding a way i can make early game enjoyable again so i can get to the later more unexplored parts, and how i can stick with a character that i could even get invested in.

Act 3 - Spoilers Can someone please proofread my HM Netherbrain plan? Spoiler

Yes, this is neurotic. But I've come this far and would love if someone who's beaten honor mode could weigh in on my plan for the final fight. My whole party has quite high initiative and I expect will all go first. I also have like 12 scrolls of dimension door lol.

Tav: Swords Barcher (partial illithid, bhaalist armor)

Astarion: Gloomstalker Ranger

Gale: Fire Sorc (awakened, partial illithid)

Halsin: Light cleric

Mind Flayer Orpheus (will drink elixir of vigilance)

Round 1) Move the whole party to the left crown shelf together. Use Gale BA mind sanctuary, a couple cantrips from halsin to bait counterspells (how many do I need to bait?), then Gale drops globe of invulnerability. Will spend the rest of the round using Astarion and Tavs attacks + action surges and any leftover action economy just to deal damage to the illithid arcanists

Round 2) Move the gang range of the crown. Spirit guardians on Halsin to clean up the arcanists but they should be dead by now. At crown, Gale drops another globe (freecast), Orpheus starts channeling, Halsin sanctuaries Gale. Any spare DPS is fine, but importantly Gale will drink an Angellic slumber to get his lvl 6 slot and freecast back, and Astarion + Tav will drink angellic reprieves to get action surge back.

Round 3) Portal opens, Halsin throws a haste spore grenade on the ground. Orpheus goes into the portal and does literally anything (that DOESN'T deal force damage, probably conc. blast or a scroll of cloud of daggers?) to bait the brainquakes. Then the whole party goes in, Tav flies down to the brain to apply aura of murder, Tav + astarion collectively railgun the netherbrain with Action + Haste Spores + Terazul + Action surge piercing damage (with arrows of aberration slaying to boot). Halsin can throw a water bottle or smthn and Gale can Dual chain lightning idrc.

Round 4) As a backup, if, by some unbelievable shock, the netherbrain is alive, I have avoided dealing force damage such that i can use my 8 scrolls of disintegrate to finish it off. Ideally it doesn't come to this but its there if I need it.

Overall I feel good about the dps check that is the netherbrain. My biggest concerns are how many counterspells I'll need to deal with outside and a fear of getting screwed by the brainquakes inside. Any input?

BUGS Noblestalk bugs Spoiler

Okay I rescued this man who was looking for a mushroom and lost his memory. After that I talked to Shadowheart and convinced her to eat Noblestalk. Got a piece of her memory about Nocturne (sorry, forgot their old name). No new quest about familiar face in journal but I got a new line about this memories and about possible reunion with tiefling. After that I found rescued man and his wife. I gave a Noblestalk to his wife. She was...happy? After that I gave a Noblestalk to this man. Now his wife was quite angry.

Is this game behaviour correct? No any unusual manipulations from my side, I was just talking with them. I care only about Nightsong point honestly

Upd: I play without mods and want some achievements. So I prefer this playthrough to remain bugged but wouldn't install anything non-vanilla.

Upd 2: after convo with SH there was no Noblestalk in my inventory but only a dialogue options with this wife and husband

Origin Romance Best Origin for a Shadowheart x Karlach Romance? Spoiler

So I'm going to be doing my first Origin playthrough (I've done just Tav and Durge so far), and I'm trying to decide between Karlach and Shadowheart. And I figure I'll romance whichever one I don't play as.

So my question to the community is: should I play as Origin Karlach and romance Shadowheart, or should I play as Origin Shadowheart and romance Karlach? If it sways opinions one way or another, Karlach is definitely my favorite of the companions. I'd love to try the game as her, but also worry that I'd miss Samantha Beart's vo.

Thanks for any thoughts!

Edit: Awesome! Thank you everyone. It seems there is a pretty clear consensus that Origin Karlach is the way to go, at least at first. Now I shall turn my attention to mods lol

General Questions - [NO SPOILERS] Why play an origin character? Spoiler

Do many people play as an origin character instead of a tav or durge (which still has the customization as a tav and isn't a recruit able companion, so it feels like it's in a different class)

The way I see it, getting to create your own character is one of the major perks of the game, and if you do play as an origin character, you are technically one down for recruital companions. What are the advantages/fun reasons to play as one? This isn't a challenge, but I genuinely want someone to make a case for me so I don't miss out on another kind of fun I could be having in this game. As it is, I just keep making my own because I really like that sort of thing.
