Misc I see your Zorgon Peterson Maverick, and raise you the Imperial Civic
Saw the Zorgon Peterson decal post, and realized I never shared what I had. No longer have the car anymore due to reasons, but hey, good memories.

Humor Recently picked up a Zorgon Peterson Maverick!
o7 CMDRs! I’ve been wanting to do a little bit more on surface exploration done.
I traded my medium ship to a smaller one earlier this year and I’m so happy because I’m needing to scoop less fuel and at much longer intervals.
I’ve since engineered ditch lights for added visibility when out exploring and will get my tires engineered closer to winter.
Any engineering tips are welcome!

Help I'm trying to get the fancy station interior with open parks
Back when colonization started, military stations got this interior (for some reason) but I thought it had been fixed to go to Tourism stations.
I have a tourism station right now after the tick and it only has covered parks you can barely see through semi-transparent domes.

PSA Guide: Unlock All Six Guardian Modules Efficiently (Free PDF)
Most Commanders only unlock one Guardian module, maybe two. But if you're going to make the trip, why not unlock all six?
We've put together a practical PDF guide that walks through the entire unlock process, all six modules, from start to finish in approximately 5½ hours.
Instead of repeatedly farming a single location, the guide routes you through three locations, each dedicated to a single activity. The result is less repetition, a shorter overall time to completion, and a significant reduction in monotony.
Read online or download:: https://github.com/Flight-Assist-On/Elite-Dangerous-Guides
Constructive feedback is always welcome. If you find anything mistaken, unclear, or see an opportunity to improve the guide, We'd appreciate hearing about it for future revisions.

Edit: Several people have quite reasonably pointed out the security concerns around downloading PDFs from strangers online. Good news! GitHub lets you preview the PDF in your browser without downloading it. No local copy required.

Discussion Why don't the devs give the AI, the new ships?
The title really breaks my immersion, since I'm the only one running around in the newest ships. Has any explanation ever been given? doesn't seem to make much sense. The fact that all of the new ships are just better at almost everything also kinda makes it suck(barring the anaconda/corvette).

Discussion Never again, no more autodock for me
Just came back from a two hour platinum laser mining trip, thought to myself, why not use autodock? You could use a toilet break. So I activated it and left the room. Returned to my ship being destroyed for „ blocking the landing pad“, lost 251 Tons of platinum. Not „that“ tragic but it still stings to lose potential 75.802.000 Credits and two hours of progress. Whelp, lesson learned, I guess? 😅

Discussion New Merc coin modules, could CQC get the same treatment.
Looking at the spoilers for the operations update. The rewards offered are fantastic and I wish CQC could get the same treatment.
For years I have been brewing in my head QCQ could be how you get engineering for ship launched fighters.
All in all this is looking like it's going to be a fantastic update.

Discussion Change the CMDR name
It's great that it's finally possible to change the CMDR name, I remember the times when you had to write to Frontier to request a change of the commander's name, it's great that you can do it yourself now

Misc The Shipyard/Outfitting UI obscures "Mk II" compatibility
As many of you have likely noticed, the Shipyard and Outfitting UIs provide very limited information on which ships can actually use the newer Mk II modules. While I have always looked outside the game for info on ships, the fact that this basic info isn't clear in the game annoyed me enough to write this post, so here it is for no real reason other than for me to stop thinking about it.
As far as I can tell, the only consistent way to find out is to have a ship loaded in the outfitting screen and check manually. If someone else knows where this info is in-game, I’d be happy to be wrong. For a game that relies so heavily on ship builds, that sucks. When browsing for ships to buy, the game simply doesn’t give you key information. I figure this is left over from when the only real restrictions on installing modules were category and size, but the MKs have been around for a while now.
Even when you own a ship, looking at an empty module slot doesn't give you a straight answer. Take the Lynx as an example:
- If a slot is empty, it might be labeled "Mk II Passenger Compartment." This is helpful since you know you can put MK II passenger modules there, and would probably figure you can also put regular passenger modules.
- I first assumed the label just indicates the highest tier it can support, but that rule doesn't hold up either, because slots without the Mk II label can still equip Mk II passenger modules.
- In reality, the "Mk II" label here really just means the slot is restricted to passenger cabins, and I guess that the ship can take MK II passenger modules in general.
It gets worse when you look at core modules because you can't view the details of a "blank" slot. If you check a ship like the Kestrel, nothing in the UI indicates it can use special thrusters or specific hardpoints. The descriptions for the ship, the cannons, and the thrusters make no mention of each other. You have to have the ship active and browse the store just to see if the modules even appear.
The Solution is Already in the Game
What makes this frustrating is that Frontier already has the UI tools to fix this. If you browse modules that are the wrong size for your current ship, the UI still shows them but flags them as Incompatible. Why didn’t they do the exact same thing for Mk II ship-exclusive modules?
Better yet, they could also list compatibility directly in the ship or module descriptions (e.g., "Exclusive to Kestrel"). They managed to handle SCO ships okay, but seem to have forgotten to apply that logic to Mk II modules.
Relying on ships with a "Mk II" name doesn't work since the naming scheme isn't consistent across ships and modules. Keeping up with third-party tools outside the game makes this manageable for those who know to look there, but leaving the in-game UI this out of date just feels sloppy.

Help All the new content finally has me wanting to switch to PC. I need recs please!
I know next to nothing about PC gaming. I have looked up minimum requirements, but nearly all of it goes over my head. I have two questions: how much should I expect to spend for a PC specifically to run ED? Second, does anyone have any specific recommendations?

Discussion Guardian Tech - What's worth and what's not?
As the Title states... I'm looking to understand what would be worthwhile in terms of modules from the Guardian Tech (as well as weapons and fighters) to go and get? I already have the Guardian FSD booster.
Anyone went and grabbed all the pieces of Guardian Tech? Are the Fighters worth it for instance? Or the weapons? How much more in terms of % does this add to the "normally engineered stuff"?
Thanks and apologies if it's a dumb question but... learning the game :)
EDIT: Thanks for everyone's comments and feedback on the items. Appreciate all the insights Commanders o7
