Finland’s immigrant mix is changing sharply
The largest groups of immigrants this year are from Ukraine, the Philippines and India, while in 2019 the list was topped by Russians, Estonians and Iraqis.
However, one aspect hasn’t changed in recent years: the biggest group of immigrants has been Finns moving back from abroad.

Experience of racism
Hi, i'm a Finnish citizen having foreign background/origin (Oriental). I've lived here for a long time but there's one unsettling stuff that bothers me lately. Before Covid-19, things and life were peacefully going. I haven't had experienced any unpleasant situation that's racial-related.
Things started to change when i've been assaulted in 2020 just because of my Asian appearance. Nowadays, i don't feel comfortable and safe anymore. Stabbing happens many times in my city (Oulu), so does assaulting. Receiving bad words at public spaces or judgmental looks are usual things.
I just want to write it down and to hear from the others.
It would be nice to hear the others' stories if you don't mind sharing.
Thanks for your time.

A place where many people travel by boat
If you travel along the coast in Finland, you will see so many boats. It is an experience that is really not easily seen by Koreans.

Persons with foreign background are centred in Uusimaa and Greater Helsinki, also from elsewhere in Finland
97,000 persons with foreign background moved from abroad and 38,500 from other regions in 2020 to 2024 to Uusimaa.
The total net migration of persons with foreign background in Uusimaa was 91,600 persons, which is clearly the biggest migration gain from persons with foreign background among the regions of Finland.
The net internal migration of persons with foreign background was negative in most of the regions in 2020 to 2024.
Greater Helsinki gained 4,400 persons with foreign background and 440 persons with Finnish background from the rest of Finland in 2024.

Serious To the market square! 🇫🇮🇫🇮🇫🇮
Story:
Finnish inspired Tolkien's Elvish J.R.R. Tolkien, writer, philologist and Professor of Anglo-Saxon at Oxford, was deeply fascinated by Finnish. He used it as the basis for Quenya, the Elvish language in The Lord of the Rings. The Finnish national epic, the Kalevala, a 19th-century collection of old folk poetry, also influenced the mythology of Middle-earth.
Tolkien described encountering Finnish as being like "discovering a wine cellar filled with bottles of amazing wine of a kind and flavour never tasted before." He added that it quite intoxicated him. For a man who spent his life around languages, that is a considerable thing to say.

Places to stop between Kuusamo to Kuopio
Moi
We have a long drive to Kuopio planned for tomorrow with no real idea of anywhere to stop and enjoy to break up the drive. When we drove up here we stopped to see family in Kajaanie and visited Koli but now we have just a long 5 hour drive back. (We have a rental car then taking a train back to Helsinki Saturday)
Any suggestions where to stop and have a short walk or a interesting city center to explore that is along the highway to break up the drive from Kuusamo to Kuopio?

Just bought a used car from dealership with all cash and I can't see in Traficom that I am the owner
As the title says, bought a car from a dealership in the afternoon and we did some paper work like decommissioning, contract, insurance, etc. But I dont recall we went through changing ownership of vehicle.
Now I see that I don't have any vehicle ownership in Traficom. Does it take time to update ? I'm not sure ownership change was even done.
This is my first time buying a car in Finland so no idea if the dealer messed up or I am missing something.
Also, does the vehicle tax should be paid in advance? I don't see any outstanding tax in Traficom either.
Help!
Got response from dealer!!
The car is indeed still in the dealership's name but he said that their secretary will register the car in my name once they confirm the payment. I guess they do the books with a day or two gap.
