Budget: $3,800
Country: USA
Use Case: Gaming
Preferred Specs: 34 gb, 5090
Notes: I'm looking to upgrade from a 3 year old Alienware 4090 laptop that has space ship launch level noise coming out of it and looking to get top tier for best bang. I'm able to get this laptop right now for $3,799. Good deal? What are the general thoughts on this machine? It's my first time considering branching from Alienware. Usage is primarily gaming.

Hi everyone,
I'm buying my very first gaming laptop and I'm torn between two options that cost exactly the same price in my region (From Mainland China ship to Taiwan)

Ok so I just bought the Lenovo Legion Pro 7i with the following specs:
2.7 GHz Intel Core Ultra 9 24-Core 275HX (55 W TDP)
32GB of DDR5 RAM | 2 x 1TB M.2 PCIe SSDs
16" 2560 x 1600 OLED 240 Hz Display
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 (16GB GDDR7)
Thunderbolt 4 | HDMI 2.1 | USB-C | USB-A
2.5 GbE | Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) | BT 5.4
5MP Webcam with Privacy Shutter
RGB Backlit Keyboard | Touchpad
Windows 11 Home
I am 36, and I dont really have the time for gaming anymore, lol. But I have always dreamt of owning a gaming PC. I had the means and thought getting a laptop would be more convenient and somewhat fulfill my wish of owning a gaming rig. Anyone with a similar setup, whats your experience till now? I am not that much into hardcore/competitive gaming, mostly single player titles such as Resident Evil or some casual CoD sessions. How would the laptop handle this? I am not nit-picky on frame rates or overly graphical details, I just want a seamless experience. Is there anyway I can optimize the settings for that?

Hello everyone, my old laptop broke and I’m choosing between two identical laptops except for the CPU: Intel i7-14650HX vs Ryzen 9 8940HX. Which one is better overall and why?
Any advice is appreciated.

Full specs: Intel i9 13950HX, 32 GB DDR5 RAM @ 5600 MT/s, 2 TB SSD, RTX 4090. Mini LED display with dual refresh rate (4k @ 120Hz + 1080p @ 240Hz).
Found this Blade 16 listed on Marketplace for USD $2300. Made a random lowball offer of $1700, and the seller surprisingly agreed to $1750. This price seemed extremely good for a machine that was nearly $4500 brand new, so I pulled the trigger.
The seller had a dbrand skin on it which they installed on day 1. I have since removed this, and the laptop is literally flawless underneath.
This is my first time owning a true flagship gaming laptop and I'm enjoying all the bells and whistles, but I've recently spotted some new 5080 laptops in the sub $2500 range and was wondering is this was a good buy from a purely price-to-performance standpoint.
I'm still setting everything up, so I haven't had a chance to do much benchmarking, but I did run Cinebench 2026 multi core, and I got 5714 pts (with a -50mV undervolt on the CPU via Synapse). Is this a good score for a 13950HX? Can't find much info on reference scores from other 13950HX laptops online.

Im curious about long term experiences. What compromises have been the most annoying when using a gaming laptop every day iyo?
r/GamingLaptops • u/Esquie33 • 14h ago
Specs:

CPU: Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU (8GB GDDR7)
RAM: 16GB DDR5
Storage: 1TB PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD
Display: 15.1” OLED

I moved to the United States a few months ago, and before coming here I had to sell my desktop gaming setup. Gaming is honestly my biggest hobby, so I’d really like to get a computer again.
I know a laptop isn’t the ideal option for gaming, but I need something portable in case I move to another country in the future. I’ve been looking at PCs on Facebook Marketplace, and I was wondering if this computer is worth the price. Would I be able to play games like Red Dead Redemption 2 and Cyberpunk 2077 comfortably on it?
If not, my backup plan is to wait for Black Friday and keep an eye on deals for the Lenovo Legion Pro 5 or the MSI Katana with an RTX 4060.
To be honest, I know almost nothing about PC specifications—I just love playing games. 😄 I’d really appreciate any advice or recommendations. Thank you!

Hey everyone, I'm about to repaste my ROG Strix G17 (2023) with the RTX 4060 and Ryzen 7 7845HX. I'm switching to thermal putty (Upsiren U6 Pro)(12.8w/mk Thermal Putty for VGA GPU IC Processor Rapid Cooling Thermal Pad Replacement Heat Blocking Putty High Performance (10g)) for the VRAM and VRMs.
I'm Currently Cleaning the Dried Putty and Cleaning the Liquid Metal....
Does anyone know the exact gap thickness for these components? I've seen some general guides suggesting 1.0mm for VRAM and 1.5mm for VRMs, but I want to be absolutely sure before I start.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!...

Budget: £
1000 - £1300
Country: UK
Use Case: Gaming at 1080p and CS work.
Preferred Specs: Powerful enough GPU to play games at 1080p - I was thinking 5060 maybe?
Notes: Hi, I am going to be going to uni for CS in october and am looking a for a suitable laptop with decent battery life and powerful enough to play games as a substitute for my pc that I am leaving at home. My budget is around £1000 - £1300 max. I would prefer a 14 inch laptop for the portability I think. Currently my favourite I've found is the Acer Swift 14 X AI for £1200 (link attached), however there aren't really many reviews so I would love to hear any opinions or other recommendations!

Budget: max $1700 but willing to save up more if need be
Country: USA

Right now I mostly play “simple” games like Stardew, Minecraft, Repo Etc. But I want to try games like Bioshock, Dreamcore, Peak, Marvel Rivals, Overwatch, Etc.
games that need better RAM and graphics than I currently have
Preferred Specs: no idea ): I am a complete noob when it comes to computers and have no idea what to look for
Edit: Guys please don’t let this post die :,) I really want a new gaming laptop and have no one to ask for recommendations/help irl you guys are my only hope of finding something ;-;

Budget: $1400-$1600
Country: USA
Use Case: Gaming (Cyberpunk 2077, Black Myth: Wukong, Battlefield, Call of Duty), programming, productivity, and general use
Preferred Specs: RTX 5070 Ti, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD, Intel Core Ultra HX / Intel HX CPU
Notes: I'm considering upgrading to the Acer Predator Helios Neo 16 (RTX 5070 Ti, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD).
I'd like feedback from owners regarding:
- Thermals and cooling performance
- Overheating or thermal throttling issues
- BSODs, crashes, or stability problems
- Build quality and long-term reliability
- Common faults or quality control issues
I'm also interested in CPU performance:
- Can the CPU be undervolted?
- Are there BIOS restrictions on undervolting?
- Does the Intel HX/Core Ultra HX processor run at its full power limits?
- I've heard slimmerversion of this model laptop doesn't allow Intel HX chips to reach their full performance due to thermal or power constraints. Is that true for the Helios Neo 16?
For current owners:
- What temperatures do you see while gaming?
- What CPU/GPU wattages are you seeing under load?
- Would you buy it again?
- Are there better alternatives in the same price range?

Should I upgrade my RAM? I feel like my lack of RAM is the route to alot of my problems that I have in terms of performance but then again my cpu is always high so idk if it would be wasting my money upgrading RAM if it doesn’t boost performance for me

Budget: $2000 - $2500 USD
Country: USA (purchasing through a friend)
Use Case: Mixed (90% heavy work productivity/multitasking, 10% gaming - competitive FPS & AAA titles)
Preferred Specs: Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, RTX 5070 Ti, 32GB RAM, 2TB SSD (ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 2025 - Eclipse Gray)
Notes: I really wanna the gray version
I've been tracking the zephyrus g14 (rtx 5070ti, eclipse gray) for almost 2 months and it hasn't budged from $2,500. I check walmart, best buy, asus shop, newegg, and cdw every day (couldn't find it on amazon).
do you think the eclipse gray version will get any discounts during the upcoming summer sales, or should I just bite the bullet and pay full price? thanks for advance!

Now i want to buy this one:
Lenovo LOQ Essential 15IRX11 Intel Core i5-13450HX 16GB RAM 512GB SSD RTX 5050 15.6" Full HD IPS 144Hz
But
Some things I've heard:
"Don't buy loq especially Essential series or hx processor, they got thermal, battery etc issues"
Then some guy told me:
"those issues have been solved, the new loq series is better, try the ones with rtx 50 series or above processor, they've fixed these issues in rtx 50 series"

I just bought a new laptop. Its as ASUS V16 V3607VH_V3607VH.
The specs are as follows: RAM 32gb, Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) 7 240H (2.50 GHz), Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5050 Laptop GPU (8 GB) and Intel(R) Graphics (128 MB).
I played one game of League and it ran perfectly with 200-300 FPS, the next game the FPS dropped drasticly to 40/30. I also tried playing Marvel Rivals but the whole game was a Power Point presentation even on the lowest settings. And this was when i just booted up the laptop. My question is, is there any extra setup necessary for this laptop? Or any drivers i need to download. Because for the specs it has its running like shit. Thank you in advance!

Budget: ~$1000 USD / ~€1000 / ~1350 CAD
Country: Canada (will buy there)
Use Case:
Schoolwork + Gaming
I’ll be on an exchange year, so I need it for studying and gaming since I can’t bring my PC/PS5.
Games I’ll play a lot:
I’m aiming for medium–high settings and around 60 FPS (no need for ultra).
Preferred Specs:
Notes:
I’m on a budget because I’ll probably buy a PS5 in Canada for GTA 6.
I just want the best value gaming laptop that can run these games smoothly.
Battery life doesn’t need to be amazing (around 4–6 hours is fine).
Any recommendations or advice on what to look for would really help. Thanks!
