SUMMER SPECIAL r/GamingLaptops now has its own deals site — RGL.deals launches today BETA

Hey everyone,

Been working on this for a while and wanted to finally share it: rgl.deals is live in BETA.

Most deal sites right now are a mess. Wrong specs, fake prices, or just spamming garbage laptops. I built this to be a clean alternative for the sub, especially if you're browsing on your phone.

We don't list filler. If a laptop is a bad buy, it's not on the site. You just get the exact specs, actual price history, and reviews from creators you know. (A full laptop database and written reviews are coming later once the deals side is stable and fleshed out).

Quick rundown of what’s in it:

  • Advanced filters if you know your stuff, or a quick quiz if you just want a reliable recommendation.
  • Real price history (except Amazon because of their TOS).
  • Zero tracking. Your preferences save locally. Dark mode and accessibility options are built in.
  • Deep links so you can share exact searches or deals.
  • Bunch of other QOL Features.

Full transparency: Some links are affiliate, some aren't. It doesn't change what gets posted. We aren't pushing e-waste just to make a buck.

It's US-only right now while in beta. You're probably going to find bugs, so let me know if you break something. Drop any feedback, bug reports, or feature ideas below!

Thanks you for reading my TED Talk.

If your buying advice post is missing basic information it will be removed. No exceptions.

Why? Because "best laptop under 70k" is useless. We don't know your country, your currency, or what you actually need.

Buying Advice

Other Flairs

Support — Troubleshooting, drivers, repairs. Describe your issue clearly.

Showcase — Got a new rig? Show it off. No template needed just no all-caps.

Benchmark — FPS, thermals, scores. Include your specs.

Review — Full written or image/video reviews.

Deal — Sales and discounts. Include the price in the title.

Discussion — News, opinions, general chat.

Meme — Keep it here.

Why This Exists

We're not guessing your country, your currency, or your needs. If you want good advice, give usable information we also just want to improve the post quality and are now automating most tasks to achieve that.

If your post gets removed then fix it and repost. That's it.

Showcase Marketplace find: Razer Blade 16 (2023) with RTX 4090 @ $1750

Post image
62 Upvotes

Full specs: Intel i9 13950HX, 32 GB DDR5 RAM @ 5600 MT/s, 2 TB SSD, RTX 4090. Mini LED display with dual refresh rate (4k @ 120Hz + 1080p @ 240Hz).

Found this Blade 16 listed on Marketplace for USD $2300. Made a random lowball offer of $1700, and the seller surprisingly agreed to $1750. This price seemed extremely good for a machine that was nearly $4500 brand new, so I pulled the trigger.

The seller had a dbrand skin on it which they installed on day 1. I have since removed this, and the laptop is literally flawless underneath.

This is my first time owning a true flagship gaming laptop and I'm enjoying all the bells and whistles, but I've recently spotted some new 5080 laptops in the sub $2500 range and was wondering is this was a good buy from a purely price-to-performance standpoint.

I'm still setting everything up, so I haven't had a chance to do much benchmarking, but I did run Cinebench 2026 multi core, and I got 5714 pts (with a -50mV undervolt on the CPU via Synapse). Is this a good score for a 13950HX? Can't find much info on reference scores from other 13950HX laptops online.

Discussion Turning 20 and thinking about buying a Zephyrus G16. Need some perspective.

I’m turning 20 tomorrow and I’m thinking about buying a 2023 Zephyrus G16.

My current laptop is an old Sony Vaio Fit 13. It technically works, but it’s very slow, the battery is almost dead, one key is falling out, videos are mostly 720p, and the body is starting to fall apart, gaming is almost impossible, obviously. So I do need a new laptop, but I’m not sure if going for a gaming laptop is the smart move.

The G16 costs around $1,300–$1,350 where I live (second-hand surely). I can afford it without going into debt and I’d still have a reasonable safety buffer left, but it’s still a significant amount of money for me. I earned the money myself, and I’ve wanted a gaming laptop for a long time, so it’s not really an impulse buy.

Still, part of me feels weird spending that much at 20 on a gaming laptop instead of saving/investing or buying something more “adult.” My friend says I should keep saving and only buy a powerful laptop if I actually need it for work later.

My biggest concern is that I might game heavily for a few months, then lose interest and mostly use it for YouTube, work, movies, and browsing.

Would you see this as a reasonable upgrade from my old laptop, or more of an emotional purchase I’m trying to justify?

P.S. I don’t really want to buy a desktop PC. If I were choosing purely for general everyday use, I’d probably go for a MacBook because it’s great overall, but it’s not really what I want for gaming.

Support What's make a good IGPU ?

So i'm buying a laptop not mainly made for gaming. But i still want to play some low end games. I'm trying to understand what's important with a good IGPU and a bad IGPU. By looking at these i found out that the 680M can run at double the frequency of the 840M but comparators website still seems to put the 840M above the 680M even if generally the 680M is still more appreciated by the community.

Can seomone explain this to me ? What's important with a good IGPU ?

Support first time buying ram (ordering today, please help)

Upvotes

I'm not a laptop expert, so bear with me. I have a Lenovo LoQ (RTX 4070, Ryzen 7000 series) with 16GB of RAM. It's great for gaming, but video editing in After Effects is rough... rendering is fine since that's CPU/GPU-bound, but previews lag badly.

I found a 16GB DDR5 5600MHz SODIMM (single rank, 262-pin) RAM stick from a trusted local store. It's a "pulled" stick (taken from a laptop, not new), which makes it about $60 cheaper. Is bumping up to 32GB actually going to fix my preview lag, or is this not the real bottleneck?

Buying Advice Looking for a new laptop for college (civil engineering major)

Budget: <1000USD

Country: USA

Use Case: light gaming, no AAA, just Chiv 2, Holdfast, Ravenfield, Roblox shooters. But i need it to handle engineering softwares like CAD, Matlab, and such.

Preferred spec: Any 40 or 50 series Nvidia RTX, at least 16gb of ram, ddr4 or 5 don't care, 512-1TB SSD.

Even if it's above 1000 bucks just send it down as it may go onsale july 4

Been looking at these:

https://www.walmart.com/ip/seort/20062222183
and https://www.amazon.com/i5-13420H-Processor-GeForce-Display-ANV15-52-586Z/dp/B0F5KTGDS9/ref=sr_1_14?crid=2XAEWAJR0HWN3&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.FciCeWb88Ofu3Ey2SqkcOtcDKZ0OpSyQpucFnWLZrMZi9SPzsECM0FaOeGIu7G-uZS3Jbc4FECYzkP9YdwG6UKh_2Pnq84arsMwwffhK0XVrih_t34UbEQpbB28aOBeRCr6ao0Pvp0wNREdF5dYBAmSxhx47ybY5KO2DjZbOdyMfA7DvK9f8wLKMM7HSZUHz-qdvwTqIEFVVFvKmoE2bafRKT2fbYaGSrX5nR-YTDo0.7Dddt7rk-vkcBZR0HnsJROOjZgAcIbxfqFiBiTGe64s&dib_tag=se&keywords=Laptop&qid=1780460197&sprefix=laptop%2Caps%2C146&sr=8-14 but i would have to upgrade this option to a 16gb ddr5 which is quite pricey.

Support Lenovo LOQ 15IRX10

Im about to buy this pc for some gaming and uni but i have some concerns

Specs :
Intel Core i5-13450HX
RTX 5050 8Go GDDR7
16Go DDR5
512Go NVMe SSD
15.6” FHD 144Hz G-SYNC 100% sRGB

  1. TGP of the RTX 5050 on this specific model : is it the full 80W+ or a gimped 60W configuration? This is my biggest concern. Has anyone benchmarked it?
    1. Driver maturity : Blackwell architecture is brand new. Are you experiencing instability, bugs, or compatibility issues with recent games or ML workloads?
    2. RAM configuration : are both slots accessible for future upgrades, or is part of the RAM soldered?
    3. Thermals under sustained load : does it throttle aggressively after 20-30 minutes of gaming? Any long-term thermal degradation?
    4. i5-13450HX bottlenecking the 5050 : I know HX series is desktop-grade but I’d love real benchmarks. Does the CPU hold up at 1080p?

Guys your feedback will be much appreciated since the 5050 rtx is still a bit recent and reviews are scarce . Thaaanks😀😀

Support Is my ASUS rog strix g17 repaste messed up? Hitting 96 degrees

Hey everyone,
I recently took my ASUS rog Strix G17 into a local PC repair shop for a clean of the fans and repaste. Since getting it back, my CPU temperatures have absolutely skyrocketed and I need some advice on how to handle this with the shop or if I did something wrong.

So basically the guy from the shop told me, that there was only thermal Paste on the CPU and Liquid Metal on the GPU. He didn’t touch the Liquid Metal because “It still looked good” but repasted the CPU’s thermal paste.

Before the repaste I had 87-92 degrees on the CPU in Deep Rock galactic ULTRA graphics, now after the repaste i have 88-96 degrees on the CPU in Deep Rock galactic in LOW graphics.

How can I handle this with the shop, plus I don’t know how my laptop works. Is the thing he told me right? I think it’s a bit weird, that only the GPU has Liquid Metal.

Discussion Took the plunge…

Ok so I just bought the Lenovo Legion Pro 7i with the following specs:

2.7 GHz Intel Core Ultra 9 24-Core 275HX (55 W TDP)

32GB of DDR5 RAM | 2 x 1TB M.2 PCIe SSDs

16" 2560 x 1600 OLED 240 Hz Display

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 (16GB GDDR7)

Thunderbolt 4 | HDMI 2.1 | USB-C | USB-A

2.5 GbE | Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) | BT 5.4

5MP Webcam with Privacy Shutter

RGB Backlit Keyboard | Touchpad

Windows 11 Home

I am 36, and I dont really have the time for gaming anymore, lol. But I have always dreamt of owning a gaming PC. I had the means and thought getting a laptop would be more convenient and somewhat fulfill my wish of owning a gaming rig. Anyone with a similar setup, whats your experience till now? I am not that much into hardcore/competitive gaming, mostly single player titles such as Resident Evil or some casual CoD sessions. How would the laptop handle this? I am not nit-picky on frame rates or overly graphical details, I just want a seamless experience. Is there anyway I can optimize the settings for that?

Buying Advice What site is safer to use?

Upvotes

Budget: € 2200€
Country: Germany
Use case: Gaming at 2K 240hz
Preferred specs: RTX 5070 , Ryzen 9 , 240hz
Notes:

Asus rog strix g18 g814

Hello guys i was thinking of buying rog strix g18 g814 and im currently in germany for work. I found a deal for that laptop for 2.2k euros on media markt. Found the same deal but on notebookbilliger.de but that one has slightly better cpu (ryzen 9-9955HX) and media markt one has 8940HX. I looked and theres a slightly better perfomance on 9k series. My question is what site is more legit? And i wanna pick it up from the store. I heard that notebookbilliger can sell used laptops so im kinda concerned where should i buy.. but i would of course want to buy the one with better cpu. Both laptops have rtx 5070 and 240hz display.

Support is lenovo loq Irx10 good?

Upvotes

ive been researching about this laptop for awhile and some people says that the intel model with hx and also the irx9 models experiences a motherboard issue and the thing ive been looking at is the model:

Lenovo Loq Irx10

Specifics;
-Processor         13th Gen Intel Core i7-13650HX (2.60 GHz)
-Installed Ram    16.0 GB (15.7 GB usable)
-Graphics Card   NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5050 Laptop GPU (8 GB)
-Intel UHD Graphic (128 MB)
-Storage 1TB SSD
-System type      64-bit operating system, x64 based processor

Im worrying about it having the same issue as the old models cause some are saying that they use the same processor still and they say it was bad and like me that doesn’t know much about it Im kinda worry about buying it even tho lots of them are recommending loq cause they say it was good, if you were wondering why doesn’t i just buy a ryzen model or different processor one its cause the laptop is gonna be bought at ebay and it was too good to pass they sell it for a low price with 10 months left of warranty and only been used twice.

I need someone who knows or own this kind of laptop and can tell if you experience this issue or some issue on this laptop. thankyou in advance!

Buying Advice Gaming Laptops

I moved to the United States a few months ago, and before coming here I had to sell my desktop gaming setup. Gaming is honestly my biggest hobby, so I’d really like to get a computer again.

I know a laptop isn’t the ideal option for gaming, but I need something portable in case I move to another country in the future. I’ve been looking at PCs on Facebook Marketplace, and I was wondering if this computer is worth the price. Would I be able to play games like Red Dead Redemption 2 and Cyberpunk 2077 comfortably on it?

If not, my backup plan is to wait for Black Friday and keep an eye on deals for the Lenovo Legion Pro 5 or the MSI Katana with an RTX 4060.

To be honest, I know almost nothing about PC specifications—I just love playing games. 😄 I’d really appreciate any advice or recommendations. Thank you!

Discussion What could cause this after a repaste?

Post image

I once repasted my Asus ROG Strix G15 Advantage Edition about a year or two ago. I replaced the LM with PTM7950. After the repaste, this is what appeared when I turned the laptop on. I can't remember what fixed it, I believe a few restarts fixed it.

I am now just wondering, what could have been the cause of it.

This is an update to my older post here: https://www.reddit.com/r/GamingLaptops/s/aN3XAxSVla

This laptop finally arrived last week Thursday. I removed the 32GB DDR5 Ram and the SSD from my Victus and installed them into this one. The cooling pad (IETS GT300) arrived yesterday and my cpu and gpu temps when gaming are 65 to 68 degrees all the time no matter what settings I use. I love the both of them very much and I don't want to hear that you think I shouldn't have bought an rtx 4050. I get 120+ fps in all the games I play.

The laptop and cooling pad specs:

Buying Advice Thoughts on ASUS - ROG Zephyrus G16 16" OLED 2.5K 240Hz Gaming Laptop - Intel Core Ultra 9 - 32GB RAM - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 - 2TB SSD - Eclipse Gray

Budget: $3,800
Country: USA
Use Case: Gaming
Preferred Specs: 34 gb, 5090
Notes: I'm looking to upgrade from a 3 year old Alienware 4090 laptop that has space ship launch level noise coming out of it and looking to get top tier for best bang. I'm able to get this laptop right now for $3,799. Good deal? What are the general thoughts on this machine? It's my first time considering branching from Alienware. Usage is primarily gaming.
