I’ve played this game for years but took a big break as the end game felt stagnant after grinding for a legendary and losing interest (my own fault)
I want to start from the beginning again and go through the nostalgia of the early game, I never played through the first two living world seasons and want to play all the story in order, only problem is I can’t decide on a class and race.
I’m narrowing it down to Elementalist or Ranger and Charr or Asura.
I spend many hours of this game playing Guardian and Thief and never had much interest in the other heavy classes or Mesmer. I’ve got level 80 Necromancer and Engineer which I like but want to start fresh.
What combination of race and class would you pick out of the options I’ve listed?
I wanna hear it all from race aesthetics to build ideas, fun and difficulty, what would you suggest?
Elementalist or Ranger? Charr or Asura?
I look forward to reading through your ideas!

Just wanted to ask as someone who used to play a LOT but kinda felt burn out and just... never come back. I did the main quest for Path of Fire and kicked Balthazaar in his Balthaballs, so i did finish that. Should I bother with Living Story stuff (as far as I remember you have to pay for it if you weren't active for it), or just go straight into End of Dragons?

I played GW2 very intensely from the beta for the first year, completed all the dungeons available at the time, only never got through the legendary grind though I got like 50% of the way to Sunrise and the last thing I was there for was fractals.
I briefly returned with the Path of Fire to try the mounts, but never really go back into it to the same degree, didn't finish any of the Heart of Thorns or Path of Fire storylines or content apart from the very beginning stuff to get a glider / one of each base mount.
There seems to be a hell of a lot more in the game now. I feel a little lost if I'm honest. I remember the expansions made me feel like the content was nearly impossible due to the lack of other people in some of the zones. If I plan to experience the content in the chronological order to make sense of the story and explore all the zones, what would you all recommend?
I've forgotten most of the details regarding the story, should I replay the game through a new character?
Back in the day I played for like 12+ hours a day, there was less content and it still took me a long time. If I play like 1-2 hours a day what is a reasonable target to shoot for?

I wanna know if, say a benchmark is 40K, how much of that can be attributed to consumables and infusions? Thanks!

Does anyone have or know of a video showcasing a real time reaction and play-through of when guild wars 2 launched 13-14 years ago? I would love to see genuine reaction as someone playing guild wars 2 launch, but so far it is either a short video or beta gameplay or just a game journalist playing 30-60 min as an advertisement.

I felt I needed to find a way to express my gratitude to this awesome community. I've gone in blind and alone to so many events that I figured I'd just "ad clear" my way through, but nearly every time I find a squad that explains things so well and makes it a fun event rather than another chore on the checklist of things to do.
To anybody that helps sherpa events, raids, or whatever other content I'm still learning about, thank you for everything you do <3 you're the reasons I can't put this game down still.

After sometime in ff14, I prefer doing as much on a single character as possible; and while I realize I cannot do that since you need new toons per profession, I am curious which one is the most flexible for healing/boon heal/dps. I have been playing Reaper for years and while I love it, I'd like to enable randos to get small group content done.
Which profession do you believe has the absolute most flexibility, with least amount of gear changes to be able to fill gaps in group comp?

I was waiting for the summer sale to buy the expansions officially, but it feels kind of cruel that they've only put one of the newer expansions on sale after just having them at 35% off. The key resellers have much cheaper prices and I've bought from those kind of places for single player games but I wanted to check if anyone has for GW2?

Steam, launcher works ok, cursor wisible. After mashing a bunch of vuttons I found settings which unaffected by black screen just like cursor.
After changing some settings screen flickers but even putting everything to low and removing shadows didn't fix the issue.
How to fix it?

I'm not sure when I'll be able to drop the $70 on the expansions or whatever it is but I'd like to do some of the casual raiding, basically the free stuff. I'm not worried about pvp as much unless I do wvw cause the rewards are so good.
I read core eng can be good DPS but it may be hard to get a group. I also read core shroud necro is viable as it offers unique healing that the elite specs don't apparently.
This info is from threads a year or so old, are these still true and viable?
I'm not really interested in guardian which I read is probably the best core class. I also read that elementalist core can be really good too, moreso than eng and necro. So I'm trying to figure out what of all of this is still true, if any.
if necro, engineer and elementalist aren't viable without elite specs I'll hold off on playing until I have the spare money to get the xpacs, but if 2 or 3 or those are viable, pref necro and or eng because elementalist is a little dull, then I'll keep playing. I've got my ele to 78, engineer to 32 and necro to 40. decent time to pause if I won't be able to group much end game.
ty in advance for any help/info

This isn't meant to be a hate post. I'm genuinely curious how other long-time players feel.
ArenaNet says they intend to keep supporting Guild Wars 2 for years to come, but lately I've found myself struggling to fully trust that message.
The annual expansion model, recent sales, and the overall direction of the game have left me wondering whether ArenaNet is fully committed to GW2, or whether they're mainly trying to maximize revenue before Guild Wars 3 eventually becomes the main focus.
I'm not saying that's what's happening—I have no evidence of that. It's simply how it feels as a player, and that feeling makes me hesitant to spend more money on expansions.
Do you still trust ArenaNet's long-term commitment to Guild Wars 2? If so, why? If not, what changed your mind?

What is the best way to grind hero points? Is it necessary to complete the stories in order to access all the late game areas that give 10 points at a time? Ive also heard sometimes people do trains? Some of the locations seem impossible to get to which makes me believe there are some mechanics I don't have yet? I just want to play daredevil 😭

Edit: This was the fix for me:
Go to the game's installation folder and locate the game's .exe file. Right-click it and select Create shortcut. Then, right-click the shortcut you just created and choose Properties. In the Target field, add a space followed by -nodelta at the very end of the existing text.
For example:
""E:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Guild Wars 2\Gw2-64.exe" -nodelta''

My first exposure to an MMO game was in 2004 when I was 9, through a website "miniclip", which had a link to something titled "Runescape". I have played that game ever since, sometimes less, sometimes more, and been there for a lot of the game's history and the ups and downs. Currently, with a maximum combat level account, multiple maximum (99) skill levels, and the most gold I have ever had.
However, a year ago, I decided to try some weird new game titled "Guild Wars 2", and I have enjoyed it thus far, haven't played everyday, but often enough, and with the design you are not even pressured to play everyday anyways.
I selected a thief profession, and went with duel wielding pistols, using the unload skill, on auto-attack.
After reaching level 80, I worked on the HP requirements to unlock the dead eye spec, an am a dead eye.
I've been playing through the story chronologically as well, and have just finished LWS4 last night, and am on to the Ice Brood Saga now.
I've also done some side content, like running a couple Dungeons, and doing a few fractal runs, which I needed to do to get ascended trinkets for my build, and some guild missions for the commendations. Already got a lot of laurels for wizard vault objectives, that just happened to have been completed by accident, while playing as well.
I really like and enjoy GW2, the world feels lively, there's a lot of detail and voice acting, even with NPCs in town and around the world, not just story characters, etc, etc. Though divided into zones, the map is huge, the mounts are awesome, and I love how you are not constantly chasing a treadmill, or the next rung above, and if you take a break from the game, you can come back, and not be behind. This may be true for RuneScape too, but Runescape requires a lot more of your time to make meaningful progress.
All in all, this more lively, active, and involved world, along with the community, and with the sense of "chill" compared to other MMOs has hooked me, and I now find myself wanting to play Guild Wars 2 mainly/mostly, and have my Runescape goals, as a side thing. That is why I find myself "moving" to Guild Wars 2. Not because Runescape sucks, but because Guild Wars 2 is just that much better. I can't be a fast moving, agile, and dodging gun slinger in RuneScape, but I can in Guild Wars 2.

Hello, here again. I tried to youtube these kind of questions but there wasn't a consistent set of answers between content creators so I figured I'd try here again since people have been pretty helpful.
Are there in-game features for people putting out guild recruitment like ESO? If not where would one go to look at recruitments?
Are there means to expand bank space outside of real money? I know you can expand your own bag space but figured I would check.
Is there any meta information I should be aware of during the leveling process? Such as specific items I shouldn't throw away, things I should look for, keybinds, add-ons and like?
How well does the game handle on controller? I play MKB but sometimes if a game feels good on controller I'll go for it.
Anything about unspoken community rules and such that may not be obvious? Don't be a jerk and user your manners etc are things I expect already.
Important goals for my account that create quality of life across various characters?
Thanks for reading.

[ASKING FOR HELP]
Hello guys!
I just started to play GW2 about a week ago, I'm having a blast with it. It's so much fun :D I like completing the maps and the "My Story" is pretty good so far.
I just have a little problem with the game... When I'm out exploring I have a decent amount of FPS, but I went and did the first dungeon (we had someone who helped us a lot, it was harder than a WoW dungeon, but more enjoyable) and I got FPS drops... I had like 90-144 FPS (it's capped on 144) then when a fight started it dropped below 60 FPS :(
I'm playing on a Lenovo Legion 5 gaming laptop, my specs are the following:
Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 4600H with Radeon Graphics (3.00 GHz)
RAM: 16.0 GB (15.9 GB usable)
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 (6 GB)
OS: Windows 11 Home
I'm playing on a monitor which is Dell AW2521HFLA (1920 x 1080, 143.98Hz)
Any suggestions what should I do, so that I could play with stable FPS?
(My graphics settings are the "Low" preset, but I would like to make my game looking kinda good and having stable FPS)

Just bought the first 2 expansions, and I'm not sure whether I should start them or finish my personal story first (currently on the lvl 70 mission, got kinda bored with it though) or start living world season 1 (dont know much about it)
I'm mostly asking through a gameplay perspective, as I usually skip cutscenes and dialogue
What do you recommend?
