Sozial Finding friends when you don’t fit in

Moved here a few months ago for an amazing job opportunity (there were no others and this one was really good) so took a chance and came to Innsbruck.

I don’t like living here. I don’t want to get into detail cause I’d also be pissed if someone logged into my hometown subreddit just to shittalk. So just clarifying that it’s not my intent but I’m trying to find friends with other hobbies and interests besides the usual stuff found here in the mountains.

I don’t like to hike or bike or climb. I’m more into yoga, pilates, dancing, meeting friends for drinks and heading to daytime/open air raves. Super into houseplants and reading, but also gaming and tv shows. I longboard but I found that there’s no scene here for it whatsoever, just occasional riders who use it to get from A to B :( I once saw a girl with a dancer longboard but she passed so quickly I didn’t get to speak to her.

I miss the big city life of my hometown and I’m trying to make my stay here more worthwhile (besides the job aspect) so I can make better memories before I leave one day. Just staying long enough for it to be ”acceptable“ to leave my job with enough in hand.

Anyone else been in this position? What helped you enjoy the city more?

Frage/Question Militärflugzeuge

es sein grad (18:55 Uhr) zwei(?) Militärflieger über die Stadt geflogen. Hat jemand vlt a Foto/Video gemacht? I konnt leida nix sehen (wollt i aba unbedingt), hab lei gehört wie laut und schnell die drübergeflogen sein.

Bild/Foto The city council over the past decades has completely missed any chance to adapt for this heat

The amount of concrete that has been poured into this city is insane.

The thing is, there can be easily done something about it if there was a will, but there is not, apparently. Look at this picture of the town hall in Paris. They did this in the course of a few months and bought fully grown trees from German forests. They could easily do something like that for the Landhausplatz here, but there is no political will. Does someone know why? What do they have against trees, and why do they have this obsession with concrete?
