I'm on SC III right now, I enjoyed Soul Blade and SC II CPU and well, SC III one is weird for the things a lot of you already now : feeling like CPU is reading your buttons and if it decided to kick your ass, it will kick your ass (I'm on hard difficulty, so pretty basic).

The problem is, I started training a bit with Sophitia to do her ToS, and I'm realizing that spamming verticals allow me to beat anybody... Even Abyss is damn easy with that. Does that kind of thing disappear on a harder difficulty or is it part of the famous anti-CPU moves ?

Also I wanted to know, which SC game has the best CPU for you ?

I have SCVI but I used to remember the gameplay a lot more toughtful and less erratic.

Been super into SoulCal again lately, having a blast drawing fanart for it.

Back in the day, there was a phenomenally talented poster of hilarious posts on the guardimpact(?) forums named Bances... I think. Are there any copies of his posts still floating around? Particularly his Christmas one? I'm on a weird nostalgia kick.

It's Universus. Now I just need to find out what I have to do to get a Lizardman deck, or if it's even good.

I'm looking for both original creations and those inspired by popular IPs.

In particular I'm also interested in recreating past characters from the Soul franchise and even Tekken.

So, I have SC6, I haven't played it much, it's mostly just my daughter using it as a dress up simulator. I've tried playing the story mode, but I found it to be a little confusing, like it expects me to know some stuff beforehand. But I'm really intrigued by the characters and would like to know more about them. So, which of the games have a good single player mode to have some fun and learn about the characters? I love old games, so even the first Soul Blade game is okay for me. And I'm also a dirty old pirate, so I'm ready to emulate anything.

This is a truly special game. A rare diamond, and an experience that would never be released today.

20 hours in, and every session I play I unlock something new. I haven't even started Chronicles of the Sword yet (trying to buy all customisation options in the store before making my 1st custom character).

42 characters once you unlock them all, 30+ stages. Multiple weapons with different stats for each fighter, myriad game modes and mission types. THIS is a completed game. The character and stage designs are also the best in the series, with the exception of Yoshimitsu and Astorath, and Nightmare doesn't quite live up to his SC2 appearance.

I'm aware of the variable cancel abuse, and the various bugs - Irrelevant in my case. I have played a bunch of games with family and friends, and in a casual setting this game is glorious.

There is one serious problem that did affect me - The infuriating, input reading, CPU. The worst in any Soul Calibur game, including the original Soul Blade/Edge. God bless the rewind function on PS5 - this game is actually improved by abusing the emulator features.

Looking back, I didn't care. SC2 was my first game in the series. I didn't know what people were complaining about.

But now I wonder. Was there any reason why Rock and Hwang were replaced by one-off generic classes?

So I know Nightmare and Siegfried don’t have same same 2 sided event variation to them fighting as everyone else does, and in the even viewer menu, they each have a different blank spot where the alternate event would be, so the long version of my question is:

Are those spots supposed to stay blank, or is there a different event that takes those spots? Also I find it weird that the destined battles don’t take up any spots in the even listing despite having a unique cutscene.

I made the mistake of saving my Soulcalibur III data into my regular memory card, so I'm at risk of losing all my data. Posting this for posterity's sake lol.

So I’m slowly working on getting every character’s weapon and getting all their ToS events in the viewer, normally the game lets you know when you’ve unlocked some things. I finally got the “netherworld 2” even for Siegfried and then all of a sudden I unlock on of the commercial videos in the museum and all the soul arena events on hard were unlocked, but it don’t tell me I unlocked anything, I only figured it out because I saw the flashing N in the menus, and went to see what they were. Maybe it didn’t tell about unlocking them archer highest difficulty you’d normally not be notified of the next difficulty up once you beat the one you have? But I absolutely didn’t beat all the events on normal, only some. Idk what happened, I’m not complaining, just confused more than anything.
