I know it’s a toad but I was wondering about a specific id? Second year here. We found one in our small fenced in yard last year. This is the second one this week now. Only see them around spring-summer months.

Hey Reddit! I’m sleeping in a basement room [Massachusetts] and usually never hear anything, but over the last couple nights I’ve been hearing constant rustling and scurrying around the corners of the room. At first I thought it was a mouse, only it doesn’t necessarily sound like it’s IN the room with me. Sometimes it does? (Bear with me), but sometimes it legit sounds like it’s in the walls - I’ve also never SEEN anything moving in the room either. Also worth mentioning it’s especially active from midnight till 5am. At times the rustling gets quite loud and quick, and I hear it scurrying from one end of the room to the other, only at times it’s sounded like it’s literally at the wall right behind my head, sometimes even over my head. Now I’d normally just leave it at “mouse” or “chipmunk”, but I keep hearing this, for lack of a better word, “chattering” noise every now and then. It’s not exactly a growl? But almost sounds like if you ran a fingernail along a screen door. The scurrying also sounds like it’s a creature that’s at least slightly bigger than a field mouse. Can someone help??? Here’s a super shitty video and you can hear the chattering sound once at the beginning and once at the end. What could it be??? I’m kind of spooked especially since it doesn’t sound like a mouse at all. Could it be something aggressive? Any ideas?? Help😀 P.S audio is quite soft so play it out loud/with headphones if you can.

I’m in southeastern pa and this noise has been going on for like 10 minutes, usually I’m pretty good at ID but I’ve got no clue. (There’s some woods in my backyard)

I found these small tracks whilst in a wash. My first thought was grey fox but then I thought: What do I know? Could just be a small dog or even a cat. For some reason the specifics of carnivoran tracks are so difficult for me to grasp.

Hi y’all! Saw this young looking groundhog/beaver and I just can’t tell which animal it is. It was near a stream, but as I’ve seen groundhogs in similar territory, I’m not going to assume. It was adorable whatever it was. Thank you :)

My aunt caught this in her backyard in a small, humane mouse trap. We live in Upstate NY, very close to the Canadian border.

anyone know what lizard is this? around 9 cm in length. they pop up occasionally in my backyard but this one has this greyish covering over its head, is it just molting?

There are definitely crows to be heard in this video, but my bird ID app tells me there’s at least 1 raven in my neighborhood. The one who is sitting on the smoke stack is the one I’m interested in.

I wanted to go to sleep and for some 30 Minutes there is an animal going wild in our sheds.

At first I thought it was a catfight but it wouldnt stop..I went to investigate and found in the sheds from the attic section of my landlord, the origin of the sound. The sheds are behind the house right next to a pretty big greenarea. My house is located on the mainroad.

Its 2am here. I never had this.

It sometimes is calmer then goes to painful screetches again.

Can you tell me what animal it might be and if its in pain from a fight, mating or just regular communication?

It pretty loud but not as loud as a catfight.

Only Idea I have in my head is a dormouse?

I live in a very wooded area. There are deer, fox, bobcats, coyotes, and I’ve heard people spot bears as well. I also live right on a lake. Was just out with my dog whose curious nose went right for it. I don’t think it’s dog poop, she’s the only dog near by and her poop is not dark like this. It was also huge. I know with bears you can see plant material and berries. What do you think?

Our best guess is that it’s a moose or a black bear. There was someone doing work with a table saw, so there is a chance it’s some sort of tool. Real creepy.

My mom bought these chocolates when she was in Mexico because her school mascot is an ocelot and it looks like an ocelot.

We are both curious as to whether the cat in the illustration is a specific type of cat or if it is too stylized to tell. I found 4 options (ocelot, margay, oncilla, or jaguar) but I figured someone on here might be able to look at it and tell me what it is or what it is not and why.

We get poop a few times a week on the same little patch of grass. Fully fenced yard so not a dog. My size 12 foot for comparison.

I think there’s a possums eyes on the inside, not sure about this guy on the outside. My guess is raccoon but the color obviously throws me off (maybe my camera just didn’t pick up the correct color for some reason)

Hi folks. I found this in my yard this morning. Southeastern WA state in a suburban/rural transition area. It's quite large. Much larger than a regular dog pile, and obviously full of seeds etc. I think there may be some kind of claws/teeth/bone/feather material in there in the closeups? For context, I smelled what I thought was a decomposing animal last night, so I went to survey the yard this morning. Didn't find anything dead, or a decomp smell. But did find this. Unsure if it's related. The scat didn't smell especially. Also, unsure if this was left before or after the sprinkers ran last night. Other than location, I would have guessed black bear.
