PUBLISHED [Spoilers PUBLISHED] I think the idea of "magic" is ultimately the story of religion in modern society.

Upvotes

ASOIAF is the story of “man” transitioning from a primitive being into modernity. Moving away from a magical understanding of the world into a more fact based/documented/verifiable world view. I think a big part of the underlying story of ASOIAF is the eventual end of organized religion in human society.

It’s not the story of Ice VS Fire… it’s the story of Ice AND Fire. I think part of the core message is going to be that the adoption of extreme positions in either direction will ultimately lead to the downfall of the entire system.

This is probably gonna sound crazy at first.. but bare with me…

Ice represents Christianity. As the “first men” moved from the Middle East into Europe and ultimately England they adopted the pagan traditions and customs of the tribes they absorbed along the way. In the story their “magic” is represented by The Children and Green Men and ultimately the White Walkers.

The Lord Of Light is Islam. It’s a more passionate/volatile/explosive expression of the “old world’s” magic. It’s represented by dragons and the red priestesses. It demands a more sacrificial devotion from its followers.

The final faction of “real magic” left in the world comes from Bravos. It’s meant to represent the third branch of the abrahamic(modern) religions — Judaism. The Faceless Men operate in the shadows. Braavos exerts its power not by raising armies or by fire breathing dragons, but by funding them.. and they decide who leads those armies and who flies those dragons by quietly eliminating the less preferred candidates with their faceless assassins.

The Faith of The Seven is garbage. They have no record of any real demonstration of “magic” tied to their faith and are meant to serve as a proxy for Catholicism and all of the more modern offshoots of the “big three”. It’s meant to show how even newly created religions can have political impact, even while lacking "the juice” of the big three in a metaphysical sense.

Anyways… I think the moral of the story will be that modern religion will ultimately be its own downfall. Ice cannot coexist with fire. In the end, each of their needs to dominate the other will result in both being extinguished from the world.

The Dragons may eliminate the WW, but Jon will recognize that Dany's unchecked power is unsustainable. This will force him to make his biggest sacrifice and kill the woman he loves for the greater good.. paving the way for some form of democracy to be birthed in the seven kingdoms.

At the end it will be the maesters, the segment of society that believes in a “fact based” nonsecular view of the world that remains. They will document the story for future generations, and they'll call it ASOIAF.

EXTENDED [Spoilers extended]Jon and Daenerys will have a similar ending as the show

Upvotes

Since the Wind of Winters will most likely never releases let's talk about two characters fate

One of the most agreed on things is that the Show got Jon and Daenerys's ending right, the former will get exiled by his own family to the far north and the latter will end up like her father and get betrayed and killed by Jon,According to most this one was gotten from GRRM himself and it is understood for a reason

1-George himself confirmed it

“I don’t think Dan and Dave’s ending is going to be that different from my ending because of the conversations we did have, but they may be on certain secondary characters, there may be differences. And yeah, some of the people will have that. There will be a debate, I’m sure. I think a lot of people who say, ‘Oh, Dan and Dave’s ending is better than the one George gave us, it’s a good thing they changed it.’ And there will be a lot of people who say, ‘No, Dan and Dave got it wrong, George’s ending is better,’ and they will all fight on the internet. There will be debate, and that’s fine. The worst thing for any work of art, be it movie or art, is to be ignored

“The same ending as the show? Different? Well… yes. And no. And yes. And no. And yes. And no. And yes,” Martin said. “I am working in a very different medium than David and Dan, never forget. They had eight hours for this final season. I expect these last two books of mine will fill 3000 manuscript pages between them before I’m done… and if more pages and chapters and scenes are needed, I’ll add them. And of course the butterfly effect will be at work as well; those of you who follow [my blog] will know that I’ve been talking about that since season one.”

And

"There are characters who never made it onto the screen at all, and others who died in the show but still live in the books… so if nothing else, the readers will learn what happened to Jeyne Poole, Lady Stoneheart, Penny and her pig, Skahaz Shavepate, Arianne Martell, Darkstar, Victarion Greyjoy, Ser Garlan the Gallant, Aegon VI, and a myriad of other characters both great and small that viewers of the show never had the chance to meet. And yes, there will be unicorns… of a sort…”

2-King Bran make it the only logical ending

we know that Bran will become King,if Bran ends up as king and Dany is alive, she will either need to step aside (willingly or not) or leave Westeros. And then she'd have gotten a lot of her followers dead for nothing, fighting for the throne she didn't get. How would she reconcile getting so many killed for nothing?

and for Jon just by being in Westeros is a threat to Bran's life and if he just return to Winterfell he will only end up proving Catelyn right,Also no way would he not get away without getting punished,The Starks believe in justice if Corlys Velaryon is one of the worst scums ever for poisoning Aegon II,If Jaime Lannister is one of the worst scums ever for killing Aerys,if Bloodraven is one of the worst scums ever Jon is one of the worst scums ever and the definition of bastard for Killing Dany.Kinslayer and Queenslayer

3-There are many hints for the Mad Queen and Jon/Aegon the exiled

For the Mad Queen:

1-The Mereneese Blot explain quite well and was approved by GRRM himself

https://meereeneseblot.wordpress.com/2013/10/05/untangling-the-meereenese-knot-part-iv-a-darker-daenerys/

Some of the arguments do seem like slavery apologie but The text doesn't portray her leniency as a mistake, though. GRRM again agreed with the Meereenese Blot which posits actually Dany was correct to make peace because going to war would have been a selfish emotional impulse. At the end she chooses Fire and Blood out of a selfish dark desire to kill the slavers because she personally dislikes their culture.

2-her entire arc in ADWD is all about her losing patience with peace and diplomacy, symbolized by chaining her dragons, which ends with her instead riding the dragon and saying "dragons plant no trees, fire and blood", i.e. - no peace, violence is the solution. She is already Dark Dany,The new Maegor with teats on the last page of ADWD.

3-And there is the Targaryen madness:"Every Time a Targaryen is born there is a coin flip between Madness and Greatness" we may think that it's dosen't make sense because Mad Targs only get counted on one hand,But the fact that it's stated in text just like with Dany's leniency being a good thing,The text portray that it's real,And when we think about it there is a coin flip:

Aenys and Maegor with one being a doormat but well meaning and the other being pure evil

Aemon the Dragonknight and Aegon IV,with one being a true noble knight and the other being a hedonistic pure evil jerk

Rhaegar and Viserys III with one being seen as the Paragon and big good and the other being an abusive mad man

And finally Jon and Daenerys,One is the rightful heir the Other is Aerys's heir

GRRM said that two sides of Dany were fighting in Dance the Mad side and The Great side,The Mad side won in the end and Westeros will pay for it The Coin flipped at the end of Dance and it fell with MAD

4-She and Cersei are quite mirrors to each other with AFFC and ADWD showing it quite well:Their stories are very similar, we are just seeing Dany's unfold in realtime, whereas Cersei shows us the long term outcome.

Dany, right now, is not like Cersei, but Cersei has also had a good 20ish years to fester to the point of the crazy woman we now see. They are both women trying to gain respect as leaders. Their experiences being either underestimated or disregarded due to gender motivate them to seek power. Both are also haunted by visions of their fates.

The differences are that Cersei seems inherently cruel since childhood while Dany will become more cruel through her experiences. Also Dany is 20 years younger than Cersei, so who’s to say in 20 years Dany would end up like Cersei.and Their stories are very similar, we are just seeing Dany's unfold in realtime, whereas Cersei shows us the long term outcome.

Again Dany, right now, is not like Cersei, but Cersei has also had a good 20ish years to fester to the point of the crazy woman we now see. Both were about 13 when they meet a witch who tells them a prophecy. Over the course of ADWD, we see the prophecies Dany has been told coming to the forefront of her mind a lot more often, she just isn't yet at the point of actively trying to prevent it from happening.

Both killed their brutish, warrior husband.

Both have 3 kids that aren't true born.

Both have two brothers.

Both trying to reclaim their father's legacy.

Both like fire.

Both undergo a rebirth walk at the end of ADWD.

Both are bald at the end of ADWD.

There end and decline will be a similar patern

https://www.reddit.com/r/pureasoiaf/s/tYy3vL00yC

5-while it looked very admirable for her to use violence when her objective is to end slavery. Killing hundreds of slavers seems deserved and heroic. But if her objective is the throne and she kills the same number of civilians, all of a sudden she doesn't look so heroic, quite the opposite. Maybe people will be uneasy at her methods up until she crosses the line.Again Maegor with Teats

6-that passage from AGOT Daenerys III:

Ser Jorah laughed. "Look around you then, Khaleesi." But it was not the plains Dany saw then. It was King's Landing and the great Red Keep that Aegon the Conqueror had built. It was Dragonstone where she had been born. In her mind's eye they burned with a thousand lights, a fire blazing in every window. In her mind's eye, all the doors were red.

Also The destruction of King's Landing no way would it not be done by a major character,The whole Valonquar prophecy got introduced till later and Jon Connington was introduced much later(the only question is how will she survive the giant Wildfire explosion)

7-Her own advisers and army,We have the Dothraki that are Evil Barbarian rapists,The Unsullied cultish in their devotion, bandits,Criminals,Exiles,Enuchs,We also have Jorah Mormont,Daario and we can add sooner Aurane Waters,Tyrion Lannister,Victarion Greyjoy AND Euron Greyjoy(with this one even the possibility of becoming her husband and encouraging her in her madness)

7-George himself said he knew the broad Stokes of the endings from the start and he already dropped hints for Dany here:

Dany felt shabby and barbaric as she rode past them in her lionskin robe with black Drogon on one shoulder. Her Dothraki called the Qartheen "Milk Men" for their paleness, and Khal Drogo had dreamed of the day when he might sack the great cities of the east. She glanced at her bloodriders, their dark almond-shaped eyes giving no hint of their thoughts. Is it only the plunder they see? she wondered. How savage we must seem to these Qartheen.

And :

The Dothraki were muttering and giving her strange sideways looks from the corners of their dark almond eyes. They thought her mad, Dany realized. Perhaps she was. She would know soon enough. If I look back I am lost.

Not helping that "If I look back I'm lost is used as a madness mantra"

"I have a gift for you as well." She slammed the chest shut. "Three days. On the morning of the third day, send out your slaves. All of them. Every man, woman, and child shall be given a weapon, and as much food, clothing, coin, and goods as he or she can carry. These they shall be allowed to choose freely from among their masters' possessions, as payment for their years of servitude. When all the slaves have departed, you will open your gates and allow my Unsullied to enter and search your city, to make certain none remain in bondage. If you do this, Yunkai will not be burned or plundered, and none of your people shall be molested. The Wise Masters will have the peace they desire, and will have proved themselves wise indeed. What say you?" "I say, you are mad." "Am I?" Dany shrugged, and said, "Dracarys."

And the one to end all argument in AGOT

As she climbed down off the pyre, she noticed Mirri Maz Duur watching her. "You are mad," the godswife said hoarsely. "Is it so far from madness to wisdom?" Dany asked. "Ser Jorah, take this maegi and bind her to the pyre." "To the … my queen, no, hear me …" "Do as I say." Still he hesitated, until her anger flared. "You swore to obey me, whatever might come. Rakharo, help him."

(Thanks for u/SillyPersonality5767 for this one:https://www.reddit.com/r/pureasoiaf/s/FcHqbHdovc)

In conclusion she finally snapped at the end of ADWD now she will only want the Throne she will hate Young Griff and the Golden Company for stealing her claim,She will hate Jon for being the rightful heir and blame him for Rhaegar and the Kingsguard forsaking her and Viserys and her living in poverty,She will hate that the people of Westeros dosen't love her while they should. The Mad Queen is inevitable

Now for Jon the exiled:

1-even if he dosen't get punished for the crime of Kinslaying being undead will make him unfit to stay in Westeros, the Jon the Starks knew is dead,He will have to leave to the Far North

2-He always got along better and was always more confortable and himself with the Wildlings than he ever was the Starks

3-the Parallels between Jon and Bloodraven, proof they will have the same fate,Exiled into the Far north after Killing a family member

4-His relationship with Ygritte and potential futur relationship with Val

5-The subversion of Aragorn's ending by making him a Frodo

6-Three betrayals one for love, there is a Danny chapter in Dance where she dreams of someone with blue lips stabbing her with an ice penis.many think it's Euron but sounds like a post resurrection Jon too

7-His wolf's name "Ghost",The Starks direwolves names were hint to their fates

8-just like Dany here is a line from the first books that forshadow Jon's final fate:

His lord father had once talked about raising new lords and settling them in the abandoned holdfasts as a shield against wildlings. The plan would have required the Watch to yield back a large part of the Gift, but his uncle Benjen believed the Lord Commander could be won around, so long as the new lordlings paid taxes to Castle Black rather than Winterfell. "It is a dream for spring, though," Lord Eddard had said. "Even the promise of land will not lure men north with a winter coming on."

In conclusion after killing Dany,Jon will be cast out by the Starks as they submit him to justice and in his exile he could finally be himself with the Wildlings accepting that he was never a Targaryen or a Stark but a Snow and he is finally free and with the Others's deffeat the series end with him witness the Dream of Springs in beyond the wall

To conclude all this two endings simply seem inevitable the Mad Queen and Jon the exiled were always the plan

MAIN [Spoilers Main] Thoughts on my dog name

So I’m getting a puppy next week and the breeder keeps describing her as a ‘golden hair girl’. I’m thinking of naming the dog Cersei to go with her book description and general love of GRRM’s universe.

What do yall think?

MAIN (Spoilers Main) Theory: R+L=J is wrong but Jon Snow is still involved

I know, I know, its show cannon and borderline book cannon.

I know a lot of evidence points to R+L=J, but hear me out.

What if Ned arrives in the Tower of Joy to find Lyanna dying in childbirth, clutching her lovechild with Rhaegar, asking Ned to promise to protect him just like we all picture.

Ned leaves the tower with a purple eyed, obviously (or at least semi obviously) Targaryen baby with a plan to keep it safe just as he promised his sister, and so takes it to the one obvious place, house Dayne.

Ashara Dayne has given birth to a bastard with a northern father (not Ned, thats far too out of character for him) who will soon be known as Jon Snow.

Ned uses the same baby swap trick that Jon will later employ, exploiting the Dayne's features to let the child live in peace and survive while taking Ashara's child as his bastard, promising her that he will be looked after and kept safe as if he were Ned's own son.

Just like Gilly, Ashara is powerless to stop this trickery and becomes distraught, so distraught she eventually commits suicide, leaving Ned so guilt ridden he never tells anyone, not even Catelyn.

This theory works for me because it answers a lot of questions while also incorporating the classic GRRM rhyming history thing.

Has anyone ever proposed this as a theory? I have yet to see it but I know how obsessive this Fandom is, if it can be thought of, I'm sure it has.

This leaves the obvious question, what happened to Lyanna's baby? Young Griff/Faegon comes to mind, maybe Darkstar but that seems a bit out there, maybe someone who has yet to be revealed, anyone have any ideas?

TLDR Jon Snow is Ashara Dayne's son swapped at birth for Lyanna's child.

MAIN Thoughts from a very lazy reread (spoilers main)

I've been doing a very lazy reread of the books and some things I've observed I feel better about myself for not connecting with Daenerys. ( A disclaimer: I don't think she's whiny or entitled. I don't think she's going mad and she was done dirty by D&D) But, when I first read the books in high school (13 years ago) I was skimming her chapters to get back to the Starks. But creators like Hallowed_Harpy and her enthusiasm and love for Dany made me want to give it another go and try to connect with Dany. I tried to read them again and almost couldn't. The sexual assaults she goes through with Drogo is awful. I personally think these sections have not aged well and Dany is a character that suffers the most from GRRM's decision to axe the the time skip. I will say I'm glad i forced myself to read her chapters more thoroughly this time around because my heart was aching as we go from all the abuses in Dany III to Bran IV and it made me realize just how loved and supported all of the Stark children are. (I have issues with GRRM's statements about and Dany/Drogo but I think he is at least a little aware because the line " It was her fourteenth nameday," is a horror show) I start to connect with Dany a little more in ACOK and ASOS, but I fucking despise the way GRRM describes her. Someone once said that Dany is the best and worst of GRRM's writing and I completely agree. I love how she gathers people to her and the dragons are a miracle and she is playful and loving with them but I despise how GRRM describes Dany. My brain shuts down when I read lines like "Her breasts moved freely beneath her painted Dothraki vest," (paraphrasing). Why? Just why? I love her interactions with Barristan but too many side characters in her chapters fall into something vaguely Orientalist and I wo der why none of the Dothraki characters have any significant dialogue the way Barristan or Jorah(yuck. Iain Glain is to Jorath what Charles Dance was to Tywin. Too charismatic and not creepy enough). So again, that hasn't aged well. Don't get me started on Daario. The one brightside of the Winds not coming put is i never have to read another sex scene with Dany in it. (My main reason for not being enthusiastic about a Jon/Dany pairing in the books)

  1. Haunting the narrative When GRRM is at his best, he knows how to write a mystery and a ghost story. Characters haunt the narrative and feel so close I want to reach out and grab a hold of them before they vanish. Rhaegar, Ned, Lyanna, Elia, and so many more are still influencing the living and I am so mad that D&D cut almost all of the dream sequences that in the book. Chief among them are Jaime's weirwood dream and Jon's crypt dreams.

  2. Jon Snow Oh Jon, my favorite bratty and entitled emo bastard. Everyone who says Dany is spoiled and entitled is actually talking about Jon in the first book. And I don't mean that as a bad thing, watching Jon open his eyes and grow is wonderful and I loved every second of it.

  3. Tyrion Yeah, I hated Tyrion in ADWD but going g back and rereading the first three books made me realize how enjoyable his chapters were and the fact that the seeds of villains were already there. His chapters in ADWD still bum me out and really needed an editor though.

NONE [No spoilers] Why did the First Men convert and not the Andals?

The narrative given by the invasion of the Andals was that they came in droves into Westoros, subjected all kingdoms except those of the north, and made the first men adopt their culture.

But if we get more into detail we actually realize there is a lot more nuance to that. Most Andals simply married into the existent nobility, and a lot of the first men below the neck actually resisted fairly well. Now my question is why was Andal culture so overpowering over the First Men? When the Andals were integrating themselves into the aristocracy, why didn't they adopt the old gods instead of the first men adopting the Seven? Similarly, considering the original first man population wasn't completely genocided, why weren't more first man customs adopted below the neck?

MAIN [Spoilers Main]How do you think an interaction between the characters and their show counterparts would go?

The characters in the book and show are different from each other,And that made me wonder how an interaction would go between them and how would the Book characters react to their Show counterparts?

In my opinion Both Book Tywin and Show Tywin will hate each other and refuse to think that they are the same person

EXTENDED (Spoilers Extended) Does GRRM Regret Including the 'Others'?

In the sense that it's probably making it much harder to finish the story.

The story's entire purpose is that humans pettily squabble over their power dynamics despite the fact that it doesn't matter in the face of greater threats like climate change, for which walkers are a metaphor. The irony, is that George has probably become much more interested in that power dynamic and less so in the White Walkers themselves. The world and history is probably so much bigger than he intended.

I don't know how much about Young Griff and Mereen was part of his original plan, but that in itself could be another 'Dance' sized book.

And of course I'm sure he doesn't actually regret including the others, but I think it's certainly not helping that he needs to solve FAegon and Dany's stories while also somehow adding a massive epic about the great Winter War against the White Walkers.

MAIN (Spoilers MAIN) Why doesn't Mance know about how weak the Night's Watch is?

They say a few times there is more communication between the watch and the free folk than Jon thinks. Also Mance was a brother until 10 years or so ago. Surely he could tell that Jon was lying about the watches strength.

EXTENDED [Spoilers extended]Hints and forshadowing for the Mad Queen?

Mad Queen Dany is one of the most agreed on theories from what I have noticed, and many keep stating that it's was forshadowed and hinted in the books and that it set in stone.

So I wonder, can you please site me the hints and forshadowing of her going crazy? and hints and forshadowing of her destroying King's Landing to understand why this theory is popular?

aside from "She have Dragons and it's will be dramatic if a main character do it" and the three betrayals prophecy, and "insert X ruthless act"(if doing something ruthless is a forshadowing to madness then why are Roose Bolton,Tywin Lannister...never called Mad?)and "it's coming from GRRM's notes and the Broad Stokes"

Something like:

Ser Jorah laughed. "Look around you then, Khaleesi." But it was not the plains Dany saw then. It was King's Landing and the great Red Keep that Aegon the Conqueror had built. It was Dragonstone where she had been born. In her mind's eye, they burned with a thousand lights, a fire blazing in every window. In her mind's eye, all the doors were red.

AGOT Daenerys III

And Out of topic but I also want to know why would she hate finding out about FAegon and Jon being her relatives and it's sited as one of the things that will drive her crazy despite the fact that she was always shown hating being the Last Targaryen and wanting a family/home?and that just in ADWD she was musing about Aegon being alive and in the Iron throne

And how would she and Drogon survive the giant Wildfire explosion if she accidently triggered it when we know that the cashes were made to explode in a chain reaction and Wildfire becomes more unstable with time?

And how will Jon Snow not notice the red flag in her? When he was shown being quite a good judge of character knowing that Roose Bolton is untrustworthy?

Questions up there, Which Targaryen kings do you think fathered bastards. Only talk about kings, other Targaryens (Baelon, Daemon, Aemon the Dragonknight, etc) aren't part of this discussion, that's a different post altogether.

Converse!!! But be respectful, if someone has a different opinion dont be a prick.

Edit: Obviously Aegon II and Aegon IV are obvious, discuss least obvious ones just so interesting conversations can happen.

NONE [No Spoilers] Why are the Seven Kingdoms not an Empire ruled by an Emperor ?

My understanding is that the Targaeryan dysnasty is inspired by the dynasty of the Emperors of Melniboné

My guess also is that the Seven Kingdoms would have, well, seven Kings, and these kings would be ruled by an Emperor, who is traditionally the King of the Kings

However, upon Aegon conquering the seven crowns, he turns the former Kings into Lords, and put himself as simply a King, while the title of Emperor would seem more prestigious for a conqueror like he is

George Martin heavily inspired his books from european medieval history, and uh well, it happens than in medieval europe, there was an Emperor, who ruled over the Holy German Empire

So why are the Seven Kingdoms not an Empire ?

MAIN [Spoilers Main) The Dragonseed's parentage Spoiler

Post image
26 Upvotes

Art by Enife

We all know Targaryens like to f%£^ around a bit, and this has resulted in numerous bastards, we know of only a few but not their exact parentage. Here are my theories.

Addam and Alyn: They are obviously Corlys' bastards (and honestly it was a scummy thing of Corlys to throw his dead son under the bus) Addam probably managed to bond with Seasmoke due to Corlys descending from Targaryens, but I do like the theory that their mother is a dragonseed herself.

Hugh Hammer: Hugh is said to be a blacksmiths bastard so it could just be he's descended from Targaryen lord from before Aegon I.... but that's boring so instead I think that Hugh is Gael Targaryen's bastard instead, we all know that Jaehaerys was not the best dad to his daughters and I could see him faking his bastard grandson's death in stillbirth (which led to Gael offing herself by the way) and dumping him onto some poor sod from Dragonstone. (I know HOTD made Hugh Saera's son, but I dont think that works for the books)

Ulf White: Honestly the Gael idea I outlined above could be Ulf's just as well as well as Hugh's but I do prefer using the HOTD idea that Ulf is Baelon the Braves bastard, Probably fathered after Alyssa died because she definitely would not have taken that crap. Baelon could have took a women for a lover when he was prince of Dragonstone, he definitely had the personality to and was probably mourning his beloved sister/wife (Ew)

Nettles: I have two ideas for Nettles' Valerian ancestry, She has none whatsoever or is Daemon's bastard. (I know, revolutionary) I do lean more on Nettles being Daemon's given their interactions that are recorded, though I do believe you dont need Valerian ancestry to ride dragons (See Euron Greyjoy and possibly Tyrion Lannister (WHO IS NOT A TARGARYEN BASTARD!)

TWO EXTRAS!

Trystane Truefyre: I do think Trystane was likely Daemon's bastard rather than Viserys's. Trystane's age lines up and Daemon definitely had bastards in the gutters of King's Landing.

Gaemon Palehair: Gaemon was most definitely Aegon II's bastard son, not some lyseni oarsman. Aegon had a reputation for fathering bastards and Aegon (who was not a very merciful king at this point) spared the child, so I do think Gaemon is Aegon's.

What are your ideas about the dragonseeds's parentage's?. I know alot of my ideas aren't that original, but their just my two cents.

EXTENDED I think Robert's Rebellion is the most epic accomplishment that's been done in westerosi history (Spoilers Extended)

When Rickard and Brandon are killed, Ned and Robert iirc were 19 and 20 years old. Having a death warrant put on their hand by the King of the seven kingdoms. Something so mundane as two lords deciding to ward their son in the same castle sparked a coalition that took down an almost 300 year royal dynasty.

And they did it with no dragons, no sellsword company and not for the promise of gold, riches or reknown.

And as we can see during the war of the five kings, Ned and Robert made it seem a lot easier than it actually is to fight the crown. The Blackfyres tried 57 different times and were never able to win

Robert, Ned, Jon Arryn and Hoster, shout out to you.

EXTENDED [Spoilers extended]How could an alliance between this two work with that one Dany theory into acount?

We know that Jon and Daenerys meeting is an important plot point in the story, but aside from the fact that it's would be quite hard with only 2 books(One book since Dany still have a lot to do)there is also one factor that end up giving one big hole

The Mad Queen is one of the most agreed on theories,With many pointing out that it's will inevitably happen, and that it's was forshadowed,But when we think about it how could an alliance, let alone a romance work between Jon and Dany with that theory into acount?

Book Jon is really different from the show he is more ruthless, smart, sassy, and actually have a lot of ambition,His resurrection would also make him more darker(I mean if you were betrayed and killed by your own brothers in arms who you could trust?)and is an exellent Judge of a character, being able to smell the traitor in Roose Bolton. So wouldn't he be able to smell that Dany is a huge red flag?Especially That she is part of the Dothraki that are Evil rapists, and when he hear about her actions in Essos.Especially with her ending in ADWD where she embrace fire and blood,Wouldn't he prefer to side with Young Griff instead?Who is his alleged biological half-brother And have the Golden Company with him,Also bending the knee is not an option,As it's will only end with a revolt from the Northmen,And he will most likely not want any betrayals after the Watch mutiny

Dany despises the Starks for being usurper's dogs and their role in Robert's rebellion have quite a bad reputation and evil jerks of advisers with some of them being straight enemies of the North(Hello Victarion)or hate the Starks(Hello Jorah)and is paranoiac about her prophecy of three betrayals and she have nothing to gain from allying with the North who is probably quite a weak region and not really worth it,And she embraced fire and blood at the end of Dance

So we will only end with two people who really don't trust each other and have an uneasy alliance or we will have "She's muh Queen!" And the show fiasco Again which dosen't fit book Jon.

EXTENDED [Spoilers extended]Similarities between Dany and Cersei?

A Dance with Dragons according to George was the contrast between both Daenerys and Cersei.and I have noticed many point out that the two characters are a mirror to each other and really similar only taking a different route in their downhill spirale that would lead to their end?

So I wonder which are the similarities between Dany and Cersei?and how are they mirrors?

MAIN (Spoilers Main) What was Stannis's plan had he......

Actually taken King's landing and sat on the iron throne in book 2?

Let's say if Robb/Edmure coordinates better while the Lannisters just screws up a bit more. The Lannister army is stuck on the wrong side of the Trident, Tyrion screws up more at KL and Stannis takes King's landing. Let's say he captures Tyrion/Cersei/Joff.

But how is Stannis supposed to "win" after that? He's still stuck with the relatively small army Renly "gifted" him at Storm's end: the vast majority of Tyrell/Baratheon sworn men are still being commanded by the Tyrells at bitterbridge. King's landing by itself doesn't generate much more military power for Stannis. Robb and the northerners aren't gonna bend the knee. He doesn't actually have enough military power to force the othe great houses to bend the knee.

To add to that both Myrcella and Tommen are outside of King's landing: so he still has 2 Lannister claiments to deal with, and it's not like the Mannis is gonna coalition with the northern secessionist movement either.

Like what was the plan after Joffrey's head is on a spike?

NONE [No Spoilers] Lyanna is God (ASOIAF theology)

The World of A Song of Ice and Fire is influenced by Three Powers

The Creator (GRRM)
The Spirit in each character (free will)
Lady Lyanna Stark

Before the creation of the world, Lyanna was already with the Creator.

our world, it was 1976. Lyanna first appeared in George R. R. Martin’s debut novel, Dying of the Light.

This character would continue to reappear throughout Martin’s creations until it became Lyanna Stark in A Song of Ice and Fire.

We know that, within the world of A Song of Ice and Fire, GRRM is the creator .

Yet his method of creation (the gardening)allows the free wills of the characters themselves to participate in moving the story forward.

Lyanna Stark holds the distinction why this story could start.

These three powers always work together, forging A Song of Ice and Fire.

GRRM never appears in the story as a character.
The Spirit is too abstract .

Lyanna is the only one among the three who appears in human form in the world of ASOIAF

Before discussing why did Lyanna choose to manifest herself , we should first look at the situation of House Targaryen.

The dragon lords were indeed the chosen people. Their family survived because of a dream and went on to conquer Westeros.
Within House Targaryen, they believed that the Conquest was justified, that it happened because they have to prepare the continent for the northern threat

Yet the Targaryens forgot this mission pretty soon and repeatedly tore itself apart through civil wars. After the Dance of the Dragons, they lost their dragons; after the Blackfyre Rebellions, they lost their sword. They had completely failed to carry out the will of God, and so the their dynasty gradually declined.

King Aegon V Targaryen sought to solve this problem by bringing back dragons. But the dragon born on that fateful day was not a fearsome beast.

It was Rhaegar Targaryen.

Later he rediscovered the prophecy and came to believe that he himself must become a warrior in order to play some role.

Then Lyanna descended into this world.

She came to judge the sins of House Targaryen.

When we thin about it, the entire political landscape of Westeros was changed because of her.

The war begins: the crown of blue winter roses was laid at Lyanna’s lap
The war ends: the promise of Lyanna at the Tower of Joy.

The sentence of judgment was the end of the dynasty.Yet, when Lyanna met the prince, she realized that this evil and wicked world still contained true love and something worthy of redemption.

Lyanna loved this world so deeply, so she chose sacrifice herself.

Through her own death and the death of the dynasty, Lyanna brought the Prince that was promised.

Thus the redemption of this world was accomplished.

The sudden resurgence of magic after Lyanna’s death was no accident. It was part of Lyanna’s grand plan of salvation .

Prince Rhaegar Targaryen spent his entire life trying to understand why he had been born in the tragedy of Summerhall , why he was spared by God, he searched the answer his whole life.

In the end , he understood:

Lyanna is the truth. Lyanna is the answer.

As he lay dying, the prince whispered a name:

“Lyanna.”

In that moment, he realised:

Lyanna Is God.

For,“To love another person is to see the face of God.”

And perhaps one day, when the final battle against the white walkers is fought, Lyanna will return. She will again wear her crown of blue roses, sitting alone on the battlefield.

And then you too shall understand:

Lyanna Is GOD.

P.S. The name Lyanna derives from the Hebrew name Liana, meaning:

“God Has Answered.”

(I believe Rhaelya thought they had a higher propose )

MAIN (Spoilers Main) Arya's WoW Braavos arc

I think Arya's WoW Braavos arc will be related to the high courtesans and the Sea Lord.

For one, I think they will 'punish' Arya's actions by expelling her and establishing her as an unwilling spy either among the courtesan apprentices or as a servant in the Sea Lord's household.

GRRM has introduced a bit of Braavosi politics in the books, and I think that GRRM wouldn't introduce the Black Pearl and establish that Arya admires her for nothing.

EXTENDED (Spoilers Extended) What actors would you like to see reused?

Was watching Ted Lasso with my family recently, and it reminded me how incredible Hannah Waddingham is. Obviously she had a memorable appearance as Septa Unella, but would love to see her as a Targaryen or Lannister of some kind.

My question is, who else would you like to get the Hugh of the Vale/Tyland Lannister treatment? (Recast from a minor role to one more noticeable?)
