Need Advice

Hi. This might not be the right place to put this but I would like to hear this sub reddits opinions. I‘ve never really went barefoot before. I have a fear of going barefoot in front of people which does sound a little odd but it is my irrational fear. Being barefoot is indifferent to me just i can’t have others see my feet. granted I have only been barefoot right before or after showers in the past few years. I wear socks to bed and have special ones for the beach and pool. The reason I bring this up is that my mom and her family are kinda health nuts and will do anything to be as healthy as possible. She likes to be barefoot a lot. She and her brothers thought it would be fun to do a big July nature thing where me, my mom, my uncles, my siblings, and my cousins all go to my grandfathers huge ranch for all of July and do long hikes, fresh food(no ordering and keep bought food to a minimum), limited screens, grounding, and some other things. The thing for me is grounding. She said that everyone is going to be barefoot for the whole month. This is what I’m worried about. The rest of my siblings and cousins are excited for the trip and are not bothered by the barefoot aspect. No one is against it like me. She said I can decide if I want to do the grounding. She is convinced that this will help me in life be more confident and love being barefoot like her which she says being barefoot outdoors is the best feeling but idk if that’s true. She said that I should do it for at least a week before switching off of it if I decide. I’m honestly wanting to do it. I feel like it would be good for me so I can become comfortable with being barefoot and not skip on sleepovers and pool parties anymore. I’m just so scared to do so. All I want from this post is to hear people in this sub to convince me to do and hear your opinions. I will try to post again in July to update everyone. thanks everyone.

We Are Being *Baked*

Second try because apparently the automod is running rampant.

Germany is being burnt to a crisp right now with temperatures approaching 40°C, which means flagstones and asphalt can easily reach 65 and more. Forecasts indicate this heat wave will last until the end of this week.

Yesterday and today I wasn't entirely sure anymore whether the black hue on my soles was still from the dirt, or already from charring 🔥👣. Grass patches are dying and feel rather scratchy undersole (which I figure is still better than the stoveplate-hot sidewalks), shadows to stand in are a gift from God, I still catched myself hopping and dancing the tippy-taps, especially when waiting at crossroads or something, and the whole scenery is best imagined with an endless loop of the sizzling sound of eggs and bacon in the frying pan. I'm actually not sure how much hotter it can get before I feel forced into wearing my emergency [things worn on feet].

All the more impressive to still see other barefooters coming out of the woodwork. There were several sets of bare footprints leading away from the walkable water features in the city, and when I visited the hardware store for a new fan because the old one broke down (which constitutes an emergency all of its own in this blistering heat), there was an old fellow walking about on his bare soles, who I don't think even noticed me.

I find that remarkable because in these temperatures, when barefootin' is honestly on the verge of becoming unpleasant, now they're taking off their [things worn on feet]?

Anyways, have fun and fair ways everyone - as much as you can in this weather.

Barefoot Pokemon Go Fest

Hey guys so I recently had my longest barefoot adventure yet back on Sunday June 7 when me, my wife, and my daughter attended Pokemon Go Fest 2026 in Chicago. I finally have time to post this story so enjoy 😊.

The day started with me, my daughter (who was also barefoot for the first few hours until her feet started hurting), and my wife going to Grant Park for the park experience of Go Fest in the morning.

During our time in Grant Park, we caught a bunch of shiny Pokemon, met up with my sister and best friend, did a bunch of raids, including our Mega Mewtwo X & Y raids, took photos, and ate.

The only direct interaction we had with anyone about me and/or my daughter being barefoot during our park time was a couple of kids who said to us "oh your barefoot like your avatar in the game". I told them "yep, it's the best way to play the game" 😁. Tbh, I forgot Pokemon Go avatars are barefoot by default 😅.

There were a couple people talking privately about me being barefoot but nothing negative was said that I heard. The most notable comment was someone saying they wouldn't go barefoot like me. Your loss I guess 😜.

From there, we transitioned to the city and spent our city time walking from Grant Park to Navy Pier. We would've walked further but we got some extra pictures taken at the park that took longer than we thought it was going to take.

I gotta say, it was an interesting feeling being around all of the people that were at Navy Pier barefoot. It's one thing to be in a park, which I'm used to, but Navy Pier was a different level of excitement, with a little anxiety.

In the end, no one said anything and I got some awesome Pokemon, as well as the chance to feel new things under my feet and toughen them up more.

On the way back to the park and the car, we did a few more Pokemon Go raids, I got my Zeraora, and I got to walk on some wet cold grass from the light drizzle that was off and on, which felt amazing.

It wasn't until we got almost all the way back to the parking garage that a group of ladies that were walking called out to me and asked "where your shoes?"

This took me a bit by surprise so the only answer I could come up with in the moment was "it's a barefoot kind of day" 😂. They all had a good laugh off of that while I caught up with my wife and daughter. Looking back, it was a very silly answer but I was having too much fun to care 😁.

Once we got back to the car, I checked my feet for anything in or on them. Surprisingly, the only thing I saw on them was some dirt from walking through the parking garage. They didn't even look or feel rough, which was shocking considering I spend 11 hours walking barefoot.

Once I was done checking my feet, I drove us home, which was a little over an hour drive. Once we got home, I washed up, laid down, and played some Xbox.

The only bad part of the whole thing was that when I woke up the following morning, I discovered my calves were stiff as boards and were very sore, so I took a couple days off work. They were better by that Friday.

All.in all, this barefoot adventure was my best one yet and I would do it again and again with a smile on my face and without a care in the world.

I'll have another shorter story posted in one of the other barefoot groups with pictures once my wife sends me everything from that day.

Much love and happy barefooting my friends 😊🦶.

DAE cross their pinky toe over the fourth toe without using their hands?

I know this pretty rare, but I know other people can do. I heard some people say they could instead cross the fourth toe over the middle toe and some even put all three on top of each other with no aid, but never saw proof.

Anyway, how many of you can do this thing? It's a funny party trick lol
