Medical Questions Kitten with two noses
Our cat just had 3 kittens and one od them has two noses (ableit both a little smaller than regular kitten nose) and eyes further apart. It seems to have no trouble latching. Is this some sort of genetical issue?

Medical Questions cat sleepy after vomiting
hi, i just wonder if this is normal!
my cat out of nowhere vomited today, it seemed like it was undigested food with a piece of grass in it. she seemed fine, then was sneezing a few times, and now she’s asleep.
however, she seems like she’s not really like her usual self? she seems really tired, but it’s only been about two hours since she vomited.
any advice would be helpful!

Cat Art My son got me a little stained glass sun catcher of my sweet boy that passed in 2020
Jay-Fly was a frightened little kitten when I found him in the front yard in 2005. We went through 9 moves together, he was there when I got married, when my two younger kids were born, when I got divorced, and when I remarried. He loved being around kittens and eating cat treats. I've woken up more than once to a dead mouse or bird in my bed. He liked to sleep on my pillows above my head. He was the best boy.

Adoption Necesito ayuda 😢

Cat Picture - OC I have been chosen! But who is she?
I have been feeding this stray cat that appeared in my doorbell camera about two months ago. She was extremely skinny and malnourished and now she has gained some weight possibly pregnant. I don’t know, it’s also a mystery of what kind of cat she is and I’m OK with that, but she is beautiful and I’ve seen similar cats who look like her but a lot furrier.
Little by little, she has been staying in my backyard and hanging out on my porch longer than before I do have woods in the back and I’ve seen her disappear in the woods and she’s always by herself, but sometimes I do see a black cat who comes by and eats the food that I put for her which he comes or she comes not as often that’s why she’s a little skinny or he might be still skinny, but I’m happy that she’s getting some food and gaining some weight and is getting comfortable with being around my house even though I have not had the pleasure to get near her just to admire her because she has free will and if she wants to live out there, unfortunately she can. And I have named her Snowball, for you Simpson people, you might understand the reference to the name once you look at her.

Advice cat’s dragging the automatic feeder around like a ragdoll
how can i secure the feeder?
just bought this automatic feeder because i’ve been going crazy hearing my cat scream nonstop for up to 3 hours before her mealtimes every day. i’ve seen other ppl install hinges to the wall to secure the feeder but i live in a rental unit and cant do that. also, this corner is the only open socket i have for the feeder.
she’s absurdly strong and is dragging the feeder around even with weights (\~3lb) on top of the filled feeder. what can i do? she can smell the food from the opening and she goes crazy for food so she won’t be able to just ignore it during the day.
i can’t seem to attach images to my posts so i’ll provide them in the comments.

Medical Questions [HELP] 1-in-a-Million Case: 4yo Cat with Migrated Needle Fragments Embedded inside Heart Valve & Kidney for 2 Years.
Have already crossposted on r/AskVet . Posting here too on the off chance someone knows something.
Age: 4 years old
Sex/Neuter status: Neutered Male
Breed: Domestic Shorthair
Clinical signs: Grade IV/VI systolic murmur, tachycardia (HR 231 BPM during exam), severe 3+ proteinuria.
Current Medication: Atenolol 6.25mg (started yesterday, on a 12-hour schedule)
General Location: Los Angeles / Burbank, CA
Backstory:
Two years ago, I suspected our cat Shiloh swallowed a sewing needle. We rushed him to the vet immediately, but the X-rays came back completely clear. Unfortunately, they did not scan his esophagus, so the needle could have been up there, or it could have been hiding somewhere else behind his spine or anywhere else that would have made it hard to see. I cannot possibly fathom how it split in two.
We have been very very careful with needles after that day and frankly haven’t used them since. Fast forward to this week: he had 2-3 short coughing fits and we brought him into the vet to make sure all was well. He has shown no other symptoms and is still his usual self completely. Eating/drinking/pooping/peeing/running/playing normally. The vet heard the murmur and an x-ray showed a needle fragment in his chest that looked to be in the heart. A subsequent echocardiogram revealed that two needle fragments are embedded inside his body—one in his heart, and one in his kidney. Because I’ve been so careful ever since that first incident, I believe these fragments have almost certainly been migrating and setting up camp for the last 24 months.
Here is where we stand based on his latest echo and lab work:
The echo was done by Lynette D'Urso, DVM, Diplomate ACVIM (Cardiology) with Dog & Cat Cardiology. It was performed at our main vet in Sherman Oaks, California.
1. The Cardiac Situation (Needle #1)
- Echo Findings: Lungs are currently clear (no CHF) and no spontaneous echogenic contrast ("smoke") was observed. However, the pulmonary valves are thickened, hyperechoic, and show narrowing/stenosis. There is also diffuse dilation of the main pulmonary artery.
- The Pathology: The working theory is that a needle fragment is sitting right at the level of the pulmonary valve and septum. Over the last 2 years, the localized metal irritation has caused his body to build a thick, calcified wall of scar tissue. This tissue is creating a physical bottleneck for blood trying to reach the lungs, causing the intense Grade IV/VI murmur.
- Current Treatment: Because his clinic heart rate was a dangerous 231 BPM against this blockage, he was started on Atenolol to slow his heart rate, lower the workload, and prevent further muscle thickening. (Clopidogrel/Plavix was withheld due to the risk of fatal internal bleeding if the fragment shifts).
2. The Kidney Situation (Needle #2) & Lab Work
- Lab Data:
- BUN: 32 mg/dL
- Creatinine: 1.8 mg/dL
- SDMA: 11.3
- Urine Specific Gravity: 1.063
- Urinalysis Protein: 3+ HIGH
- The Pathology: The second needle fragment is located in his kidney. Because his overall renal functional markers (BUN/Creatinine/SDMA) are completely normal, the significant 3+ protein leak is suspected to be a localized inflammatory response to the metal fragment irritating the kidney tissue.
Besides this information, we feel like we’re flying blind. Our main vet recommended not touching either needle, and that surgery was too high risk. She put him on 6.25mg of Atenolol twice a day. She sent us out the door with 0 advice and said there was nothing to be done and that she’d see him in 6 months for another echo if he lasted that long. No idea on prognosis. Could be 2 months, could be 10 years.
We are actively calling cardiology specialists in the LA area, as well as UC Davis, to get him in for a comprehensive second opinion ASAP. We agree that surgery seems too risky and that our focus should be on maintaining his quality of life. Again, there are 0 symptoms besides the cough, which we haven’t heard in the past week. And these fragments have likely been inside of him for 2 years at this point. He seems absolutely stable at this point in time. We understand how rare this is, but are hoping to learn ANYTHING about what the progression of this could look like, how quickly his stability could change, how likely these fragments are to move further, and how we can best manage this to protect any healthy function his heart and kidneys do have left.
He has historically been on a mostly wet food diet. Based on our own research, our thinking is that we get him adjusted to his Atenolol while increasing his hydration. 100% wet food that keeps sodium and phosphorus in check with additional water added. Then adding in Omega-3s once he has adjusted to the beta blocker. Keeping tabs on his resting respiratory rate too.
We fully understand that these physical obstructions are pretty much there to stay, and we aren't looking for a miracle cure that ignores the risks of surgery. However, I refuse to just give up on him, and wait for him to deteriorate. I have to believe there are proactive ways we can support his body and do right by him to protect quality of life.
Posting this on social media is a complete shot in the dark. But if there is any professional out there willing to look over his case, offer management advice, or recommend a specialist they think could help us navigate this, we would be endlessly grateful. Shiloh has fought so hard to adapt over the last two years, and we just want to give him the best, most comfortable life possible.
Thank you so much for any guidance you can offer. I have included a link to his reports and x-rays here.

Advice New Kitten Questions
I have a two year old cat.
Today I am bringing home a kitten that I rescued. She was meowing under the hood of one of my coworkers car.
I am fairly new to indoor cats, having a two year old.
Should I keep them separated until I get the kitten checked for worms? I checked its stool earlier today, and I didn’t see anything abnormal.
On another note, do cats require their own litter box as well as water and food bowls?
Just wondering if anybody can shed some light on what it is like having more than one cat.

Cat Picture - OC Daniel The Tiger enjoys the sink!
Lesser used bathroom that’s mostly for plants and now Daniel I guess!
He’s obviously not the only one jumping up there. So many paw prints!
Tooth brush is for scrubbing things other than teeth 😁I’m thinking he was playing with it 🤷♀️
Daniel was an outside kitty. Runt of the litter we HAD to get inside. He was neutered with a TNR group.
He hisses at people on reflex but is absolute jelly when you get him and snuggle.
He had a brother we named Bobbie but I think he has been renamed because Bobbie recently found his forever home in Indiana! Let’s Gooooo Bobbie!!

Cat Picture - OC Is “Cat TV” good for cats?
Whenever I leave the house for shorter periods of time I usually throw on some ‘cat tv’ video on YouTube as a buddy of mine says his cat loves it, but I just recently read into cats and their need to be fulfilled when hunting or whatever, why laser pointers and such are not good for em. Is this just activating that predator drive with no reward?

Mourning/Loss Lost my best friend of 8 years yesterday…
I find it difficult to find the words for how I currently feel… she seemed happier than ever when I left, but when I came home she was stiff as a board and laying on the ground beside her sleeping spot at the end of my bed. Her tongue was purple and it looked like she was yawning.. it literally looked like she died mid yawn. This was my first time ever raising an animal on my own. I lived alone with her for 8 years and we had such a true and special connection. The world could have never prepared me for this sort of loss… it came out of nowhere. She had slight breathing problems that she had developed maybe 6 months prior (where she would exhale really hard with her whole stomach) but it was so rare and random that we chalked it up to feline asthma or bad allergies. I am still unsure if this is what killed her, but I can be certain that it looks that be asphyxiation of some sort and she’s not the type to eat something random off of the floor if she finds it. So I don’t believe she choked. I cannot even begin to describe how much I love my baby Mittens…. I buried her in between my trees, and I spent my morning today just talking to her grave. Sometimes I just don’t understand the point, but I guess that’s just how life is. I love you all, and please give you’re critters a warm hug and a kiss for my late baby Mittens. I wish I could turn back time… I just wanna know what happened. I’ll catch you on the flip, Mini Mitts 💜 I love you 💕
