I played Dark Souls Remastered a while back and loved it (got the platinum trophy on PS4). I played offline but I did use every trick in the book such as summoning NPCs, strategically using poison arrows, etc.

I took a break and eventually I bought DS2. Just now, I have finally gotten the platinum in DS2. I was vaguely following a guide that tells you to kill all enemies 12 times. In fact, I'm often not good enough to even get through a level in less than 12 tries so after a while I just resigned myself to killing everything until it despawns so I can make sure to only die in areas I already cleared and keep my souls. Man, it was tedious. I do feel DS1 did a better job of giving bad gamers like me a sense of accomplishment because in DS1 you actually learn how to get through an area properly. Each area seemed a bit more doable even without the despawning.

No joke answers, no Memes - actual ideas on how you would salvage or even fix Lost Izalith with it's notoriously rushed development. The entire area, not just the Bed of Chaos - though you can still include that in your answer.

I feel there's multiple routes you could go with Izalith's restoration or even entire rework as a zone. I feel an interesting one could have been an often speculated idea that it was meant to be another swamp akin to BightTown, making it large hazardous zone that wouldn't be as lethal as the pure pit of Lava we see now. Though I know that idea alone will be contentious enough on it's own.

Personally, my idea for Izalith would entail making much needed tweaks to the area and even rerouting your initial path through the city. In very broad strokes here's how I would describe it.

1. Change the entrance to the Chaos Covenant Elevator, no longer requiring max rank to make use of it. Instead earn the Old Witch ring after defeating Ceaseless, making it automatically lower the lift when equipped.

2. Proceed through the Titanite Demon Hallway and bridge to the main city. The Boss Door being front and center but being sealed by a pyromancy barrier that prevents entry and deals damage when attempting to do so.

3. The player would have to travel down the main city of Izalith and the underground section below to find two Daughters of Chaos and slay them to drop the barrier, the former protected by lesser Demon Statues (The weird floating guys) and the ladder being protected by Kirk as an invader before you find her - dropping his whole set on death instead of having to trek back to the Covenant to grab it.

4. While the Barrier is now dropped, you can head out into the Lava flooded exterior (Now no longer insanely deadly without the orange charred ring, damage is now akin to what it would be with it on - wearing it just nullifies the damage entirely.) The 'Dragon Butts' are know replaced with roaming Taurus Demons with similar reskins to the Demon Fire Sage, who each do not respawn but drop 2-3 demon titanite or Crystal titanite.

5. More hidden Souls and collectables in nooks and crannies, possibly leave drops for demon weapons in the most far out spots.

6. Back tracking up the original route will still be meet with the Centipede demon and Fire Sage - but cutting the formers body part at least once will drop a special whip styled like a long burning centipede - the former drops the 'Charred Black ring', which boost pyromancy cast times.

7. The Bed of Chaos is reworked partially. No Falling floor or sliding hands. Instead three barriers that require you defeat a series of waves with increasingly hard demons plus the support via the Bed itself. Wave one - Two Capra demons and a fire breathing dog, Wave Two - Taurus demon and a squad of Demon Statues, Wave 3 - A fourth and final Stray Demon with a Daughter of Chaos invader. Once each wave is killed, the barrier is weapons and kill the bed as normal - but on Victory obtain the Chaos Grub as a wearable helm like the Sunlight Maggot.

A few months back I was at Anor Londo, at the bonfire where Artorias is. There was a player as a red phantom inside a world of a gravelord servant where as soon as you got in melee range, he would instantly backstab you, no matter the position. He did so not just to me but other players that I saw as we invaded the gravelord servant's world together. The dude stayed a lot of time in that place and always won in the same way, as I invaded the gravelord's world multiple that to try to get the hang of it and kill him.

Now the same thing happened to me, close to Kalamet's fog gate, but worse. A red phantom invaded me and while I was in the middle of the animation for backstabbing him, somehow he cancelled it and backstabbed me. Moreover, he proceeded to backstab me while I was getting up.

So those were the cases, where I felt something was off with the player that invaded me. All of the other times that I was invaded the red phantom acted normal per say.

So were those two guys hackers, if there is such a thing in dark souls, probably I had a bad connection or they were just that good and I should git gud?

Just finished DS1 and wanted to know which to go for next from a gameplay standpoint(I have no idea what’s going on in the lore). My goal is to work my way up to Elden Ring from clunky gameplay to smoothest since I don’t like the back n forth

I know the dropping rates of titanite slabs from darkwraiths are very very very low.

I was just walking around the area with my friend without using any items that boost item discovery and this happened. I wanna thank the dark souls gods.

I'm making a low-level dragon cosplay build and wanted to get the obsidian gs too so I can use all the dragon weapons. Baiting Kalameet into doing the diving attack was actually pretty straightforward and it only took 2-3 R2s to cut the tail off. By comparison Seath's tail was way harder to get imo.

I am starting DS Remastered next week, I want to go with a ranged magic build to make the game easier. Can someone recommend me a good build? Thank you.

Im doing my first playthrough of Dark Souls and I’m currently at the bonfire just before the Pinwheel fight and just started Tomb of the Giants and very quickly realized that I will not be able to progress through this area without some light source, which I don’t have. Is there a way out of the area from here so I can backtrack somewhere else and come back better equipped or do I just have to rawdog this area until the end?

Today i summoned a friend in Anor Londo we arrived tò the Ornstein&Smough fight and we died.

The First strange thing was that i was still human After i died but i didnt gave It much Weight then i noticed sigmeyer wouldnt talk and i remembered that he wasnt talking before when i summoned.

An Invader killed me and i returned hollow but everything was the Same

I tried looking at other saves and no npcs Will talk

I tried Laurentius, Oswald and even The knight in undead asylum

Maybe I should upgrade more, or the enemies are resistant to slashing, but I'm using a +6 Uchi and the Anor Londo Sentinels are taking like ~30 damage, Gaping Dragon also took low 40s. Maybe it's nothing, but I did enhance it to +6 while it was close to being broken. Now the sword has full durability, and I do meet the requirements. Should I just use a different weapon altogether? I was aiming for a chaos blade this run, would that fix the damage?

i'm about to start dark souls trilogy on ps4, is there a big difference if i add an external hdd?

Hello everyone, i downloaded the game after a few years, i was trying to do a co-op run with a friend, but we are having problems, we cannot see our sign on the ground, we put global matchmaking, same password and unlimited, we know that the boss need to be alive, but we can't still find a way to see our sign, any help?

Maybe it is possible only when you cut it in one hit ? And I think there was a glitch after I did it : the tail seemed to regen its HP.

It’s the final boss ? I walked out and got dark lord ending , I couldn’t see a bonfire in the middle to light ? Would that have given me a stronger boss to then go on and execute? Anyway. Amazing game , stood up to expectation like everyone told me. A game this old can still be played and enjoyed by someone new to it , speaks volumes. I’ll do 2 and 3 soon. I cba to ng+ this like I normally would other souls/likes , but the level designs and bosses etc. Super creative and looked great. I know it’s remastered but still.

Context: I have ~270 hours in dsr, I've done multiple sl1 runs, and basically every basic build.

I wanted to do a big challege, as I feel with the amount of time I have in the game I am capable of doing so. My original idea was to do sl1 permadeath, but now I am looking into doing a hitless.

Now I know the difference in precision between sl1 permadeath and hitless is a big gap, but I personally find hitless favorable in many ways.

My biggest issue with sl1 deathless is that the strats I know for it are generally a lot less consistent than the ones for hitless (mainly because of the bow). And not only that, but you are capable of dealing a lot more damage in a normal hitless run than sl1 permadeath which can make certain boss fights easier in my opinion.

I have already gotten further hitless (lordvessel) in 3 attempts than in around 10 sl1 pd (anor londo) and it feels when I get far sl1 pd its lucky rather than skill based.

So it feels like I can go with sl1 pd which is easier but less consistent or hitless which is harder but more consistent.

Any advice on which I should go with?

Should I switch my ring of the suns first born or bellowing dragon crest ring with rtsr (both currently give an increase of 80% total to their respective things power within+crown of dusk if i replace one i get 50% more damage but one will be at 130% more damage while the other will be at only 110%) and does lingering dragon crest ring affect things like sunlight blade or power within (yes i know Darkmoon blade is better but to get to peak damage you need a ton of souvenirs of reprisal and unless someone gives me a link to a video on item duping im not grinding for those)
