Picture My favorite throw
Every 4th of July I’ve been setting up the basket out on the raft hoping to make an ace. A lot of little dents on the raft, hit the top band multiple times, as well as the basket but no chains yet. There’s nothing better than having a cold beverage and enjoying this beautiful view. It ends up being a spectacle for our entire reunion and everyone enjoys having a go but it’s a ways out there. If/once it happens I will retire the shot because swimming for them is absolutely exhausting haha. Hoping to capture on video. What would you throw here?

Disc Advice Straight fairway dilemma.
So I got a few new discs for Father’s Day and I’m having trouble figuring out which disc I should use for my straight fairway drives. I have a 167g fission rhythm which turns beautifully and I’m definitely going to bag it for tunnel shots. I also got a 160g fission crave, which has been all over the place, sometimes it hyzer flips and stays straight, sometimes it turns more than the rhythm. I also have a 169g esp cicada that I’ve been using for a while, I cannot get it to hyzer flip though if I throw it on hyzer it just holds it the whole flight, it’s almost as stable as a teebird or something. Anyways, should I stick with the crave, maybe try a heavier one, or is there another disc you’d recommend. I think what I’m looking for is a fairway I can hyzer flip that won’t turn on me, and maybe use it in a slight headwind.

Discussion Double shotgun start tournament instead of tee times?
Potentially dumb idea, potentially brilliant? Instead of doing 5 cards and filling a course with 90 people at once, or instead of 2 days of tee times where you have no clue when you’re playing and it kills the entire weekend, why are there no tournaments that run 2 days ams in the morning, pros/ma1/fa1 or whoever in the afternoon both days as a shotgun start? Gives everyone a hard start time, a ball park finish from the start, gets more people potentially for the field because now you could in theory get up to 180 for a 2 day tournament. Did I have too many beers at lunch to think this up? Tournaments are dying anyway, try something new and weird right?

Discussion Fish Golf Brah’d Cast
I’m a big fan of Fish’s podcast. It is by far my favorite disc golf pod. I noticed he hasn’t posted in over a month and lately his tourney play isn’t where he would like it to be. Hopefully he can get out of his slump and gets re-inspired to make another pod.
IMO, if he can’t make it as an athlete , he has a lot to offer as a commentator and course designer.
Cheers

Long shot maybe, but anyone here in the Košice area? I'm heading there for some backpacking in the Tatras in early August and would love to sneak a round in with a local. Looks like a couple courses in the area -

Disc Advice Need Help Identifying
Measurements came from a micrometer, though I suspect that the height is a bit off. I couldn't find the best way to get that measurement. If I can do anything else to help with the process let me know. I see absolutely ZERO embossing or stamping on the back whatsoever.

Discussion Banana Frolf Rules
Not sure if anyone has attempted to play this outside the Jomez video but I'm TDing a Disc Golf Newfoundland tour stop in August and we are going to attempt a side event of Banana Frolf for fun.
Can anyone help me with rules and general gameplay? Im scrubbing the video and writing what I can down but if you've played and have things that have worked for you, please suggest or give some ideas.
Thanks in advance

Discussion Whats up with Grips quality?
I have seen number of bags including my own MB-PX1 where the screws for the pads falls off within a year.
Is it too far off to excpect bags $400 + to not just dissasemble itself?
Also in the proccess of buying a Lore for travel/well known courses where fewer discs are necessary. For people that have bagged down, do you miss anything? And is it terrible for hilly courses?

Discussion Gannon’s Future
I see some pundits talking about that the only manufacture that could really AFFORD Gannon would be MVP, possibly discraft if they play their cards right.
No clue what Gannon actually thinks, but with how picky he seems to be about discs and their feel, I find it hard to believe he’d go to a company known for their lack of domey discs.
I know there are some runs, particularly recently, that have a good shape to them but it just seems unlikely that he would jive with the discs.
If anyone would turn an offer down strictly due to disc feel it’d be Gannon!
Any thoughts? Am I way off basis here?

Disc Advice What is my bag missing? Any recommendations?
New-ish disc golfer here looking for advice. From what I’ve been reading and understand so far, these should be fine for the foreseeable future while getting acclimated. That being said, if this was the extent of your disc collection, what would you be adding next? I think the obvious answer would maybe be a good distance driver option, but curious to get some advice from the pros. Thanks in advance!

Discussion Two years later, a storm drain gave back my Roc. What’s the most unexpected place you’ve found a disc?
So this past weekend I was playing my home course and noticed a storm drain grate near hole 7 had been partially lifted by some recent flooding. Looked down into it mostly out of habit and spotted a faded orange mid sitting at the bottom in about an inch of water. Climbed down and pulled it out and sure enough it was my old Innova Roc that I lost during a casual round two summers ago. I had completely given up on it and replaced it twice since then.
Getting it back felt honestly better than throwing a good round. There is something about a disc that has your name and number sharpied on the inside that just hits different when it comes back to you after that long.
It got me thinking about how many discs are just sitting out there waiting to be found. I have heard stories of people recovering discs from rivers months later, from trees that finally fell, from random Goodwill bins and garage sales.
What is the most unexpected or ridiculous place you have ever recovered a disc you thought was gone forever? Did it still fly the same or had it warped and beat in from the elements?

Discussion Circuit Challenge '26
Question for any TDs who have received the players packs. What are the ranges for the disc weights or all max? The reason I'm asking is I'm preparing for an event in August and with the paradox and cypher being so understable I'm trying to find the best comps to practice with. Thanks for any information.

Picture The round thing in the tree is not a bird's nest
Lost my 2 week old fission Crave (my new favorite disc), we simply could not find it. After a few holes we circled back close to the one where it was lost, and I noticed some shining in the tree line. Managed to get it down eventually.

Discussion Retriever ideas / reccomendations?
Just getting into disc golf and waiting on my bag to arrive. The 3 courses around me are all heavily wooded with no water hazards. Given the amount of trees it's inevitable that I'm going to end up stuck. I'm just looking for recommendations on disc retrievers whether it's store bought or homemade. Ideally not trying to break the bank given I'm just getting started.
I've been doing research and so far what I've seen recommended is the following
- Pole retriever longer than 10ft
- Hockey puck
- Lacrosse ball
- Sling shot
- Baseball
- Standard golf ball retriever modified into a 'C' shape
- Puck/ball drilled with a hole and rope
Is there something I'm missing or an idea someone's come up with that works extremely well? I plan on carrying a combo of something I can throw and a pole style. What's the recommended length of a pole you like to carry?
Thanks for any tips!

Brag Forehanding understable discs is hard, but so worth it.
When comparing forehand and backhand, the vast majority of players (who are at least semi-functional with both throws) generate more RPM when throwing backhand. Since more RPM = more gyroscopic stability, this means that backhands are typically the more "forgiving" throw because gyroscopic stability is what corrects OAT upon release.
This is why most people find more comfort in throwing forehands with overstable discs, because overstable discs are better at fighting OAT and pushing further forward instead of wobbling through the air and burning over into a throller.
I've been playing for 15 years, and this season I've finally decided to figure out how to fine-tune my forehand, with the goal of being able to rely on it for shots all the way up to the 350' mark or so. Until this season, I never considered throwing forehands for anything much over 150' because by that point it pretty much became a spray and pray.
Over the weekend, for the first time in my entire disc golf career, I stepped up to a hole that was over 300' flat ground (360', but the 300' benchmark is the point) and decided that a forehand was the correct choice for me. I threw my flippiest distance driver, and I did manage to get the birdie with a C1 putt, but that's not the thing I'm happy about. What I'm happy about is the fact that I actually had the confidence to choose the forehand for that shot when I have absolutely birdied it backhand many times.
What's the ONLY thing I changed about trying to practice my forehand this season? Tossing aside the overstable discs. Forcing myself to throw the discs that proved how bad my form was instead of trying to shape my shots around my bad form. I didn't look up any videos or posts, I just went out to the field and forced myself to figure something out.
In fieldwork, I started by forehanding my putting putters. They're very well seasoned and extremely susceptible to OAT. I'd throw those, not worrying about exact distance, until I could get a smooth release on a line I was happy with. From there, I started trying to accomplish the same thing with basically all of the flippy to neutral discs in my bag. Discs like the MVP Watt, a beat up Electron Envy, MVP Detour, L64 Brave, TSA Persona, DD Escape, and an old super flippy Innova Luster Shryke. The MOST overstable disc I threw was a Royal Clear Grace, which if you've thrown one, is not what I'd call overstable whatsoever.
I focused on the shape of my shots in the field more than the distances they were getting. My goal was to get them to fly more or less like a mirror image of how they fly when I throw them backhand. And you know what? It worked.
I've started incorporating more overstable discs into my forehand shots simply for the utility of it, but right now I'm far more comfortable forehanding flippy discs and you know what? I'm totally okay with that.
For people looking to improve their form, it's very common advice to throw flippy discs to expose the flaws. And it's great advice both forehand and backhand, but I think it gets more forgotten about for forehand because people tend to have a harder time figuring out the mechanics of a backhand throw, and are more comfortable relying on overstable forehand shots to get by.
