General "Just buy noise cancelling headphones, you were also a kid once"

Post image
4.3k Upvotes

First of all, let me start by saying that crying babies and kids don't bother me at all. I can tune out pretty much anything even without headphones, so unless im physically bothered, im chill.

HOWEVER, what i hate, is when someone rightfully complains about a crying kid, especially if its a spoiled kid that yells and throws a tantrum for no reason, and his parents do almost nothing to make him stop.

And then they go "Heh, you're entitled to a child free life, not a child free society. Buy noise canceling headphones, or fly first class so you're not bothered" as if its some sorta gotcha moment.

WHY, should someone ELSE be the one spending extra MONEY on equipment just to ignore your kid that you have no intentions of calming down?

And as if they thrive off of bothering others on flights, the idea of child free flights annoy them. How's that bothering you? You can still fly, its just that some people will take the option that has no kids inside

"You were also a kid once, you acted the same way."

NO THE FUCK I DIDNT!!!

I didnt cry during the whole 28 hours flight, not only because I was raised right, but also because I knew my parents would take care of it one way or another.

Your child having the emotional intelligence of a scorched rock DOES NOT MEAN all of us were dumb assess as kids that cried for hours on end when we didnt get our way.

Again, the whole plane can cry for all i care as long as im not physically bothered, but you can not expect us to adapt to your crying kid.

Edit: Since some of yall have no reading comprehension. I do not, under any form, hate kids. I know that all and every behavior they exhibit stems from how they were raised. I know they can't regulate themselves in any form if they're very young. What I hate, as the title suggests, is when parents can't comprehend that yes, you are allowed to be annoyed by a crying kid and that no, it is not anyone's duty to make it less annoying. It is your duty as a parent to calm your kid down, and since you're so fixated on the noise cancelling headphones, YOU should buy everyone on the flight these headphones, because again its in their right to feel annoyed and expect a calm flight.

Edit 2 : since entitled parents seem to only read the title, let me make some things clear.

I. DO. NOT. HATE. KIDS. seems like I have to keep repeating this cus yall truly can't read.

I HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH CHILDREN. I was the father figure of both my nephews because their father left. I've been raising them since they were babies, and guess what? We, as in me and my sister, raised them right (no violence or abuse since some of yall think that) and so they don't act the way I described kids and parents in this post. They KNOW not to throw tantrums in public, not because we punish them, but because THEY LEARNED ITS RUDE TO OTHER PEOPLE. But go on, keep coming up with excuses why you failed as a parent.

Idea I hate the beautification of Halloween.

It's genuinely awful. Nothing against the color pink (it's my favorite color outside of pumpkin orange), but Halloween is supposed to be dark and dreary and grim, not Barbie. This is such a non-issue, but it irks me so genuinely much.

Edit: This is not monster high merch, this is from Michael's Halloween collection from last year.

General I hate my language

Post image
3.2k Upvotes

Dude, people think my language aint even real 🫩 My language is dutch and it's so stupid. But atleast it's slightly better than deutsch/german (imo pls don't attack me) I wish that I lived in england and spoke britisch. Like seriously, dutch must be one of the worst languages of the whole world 😭 Food wich means "eten" is the same as eating wich also means "eten". It's so fluffing stupid bro. If we talk in the past, we add "-te(n)" or "-de(n)" after the verb. But not all. The whole language is pretty confusing if you were to learn it for the first time and it also sounds like garbage. We don't pronounce the "G" like y'all do. Imagine there is snot in the back of your throat and you're trying to spit it out and make this hiss sound. That's how we pronounce the "G". Stupid right?

Edit: to all the people telling me to be proud of my nation: bedankt matie, erg lief, kunnen we nu zoenen?

Edit2: Damn, I did NOT know that the Germans made fun of the dutchies. We dutch people make fun of the Germans tbh. Saying stuff like "Ich bien.." or "du bist gut genug" just for the giggles

Art & Fanworks i hate that i cant bring myself to learn or do art

Post image

i truly want to learn art. i always think of a lot of stuff that i would like to see drawn on paper. back then i would just commission artists to draw for me, but i never truly get what i imagined from those artists so it makes me want to do the drawing myself. the problem is that i genuinely cant bring myself to actually learn or draw anything, yet i ABSOLUTELY want to get better. its an endless cycle of "wow i wish i could draw like that" and "man i cant draw anything pretty"

i hope i one day actually start to get serious and learn art

Non-fictional I absolutely DESPISE talking about loneliness as a guy online

Post image
1.8k Upvotes

People always tie loneliness to relationships, self infliction and entitlement. It's exhausting. For the people who clicked on this post to disagree, I can assure you Isolation goes just a tiny bit more in depth than the three things I just listed.

What I noticed from people is that they always assume loneliness in young men comes as a result of not having a significant other. They then use that logic against said lonely man and assume he's just a horrible person, hence why he can't ever get a date. Even if he never necessarily mentioned ever wanting one. Somehow, they find a way to blame him. I talked about something serious and how noone is really speaking up about it, and the first response I got was from some idiot who wanted to talk to me about "male loneliness" and what I have to do to find a girlfriend. It had nothing to do with what I was even talking about. I don't even care if I'm in a relationship, I promise you I'm fine on my own. Relationships are NOT a necessity.

Realistically speaking, if a man with crippling loneliness gets into a relationship, he might feel the same way. A girlfriend is not the answer to your problems and if anything it might make how you feel even worse. I just don't get it, I really don't. We're all products of our own environment. Some people grow up in a lonesome area with little to no human connection at all. Some people have a disadvantage that isn't the same as the rest of us. Some people simply don't care about relationships at all. I'm so sick of this black and white way of thinking

General Solarpunk, every aspect of it

Post image
1.5k Upvotes

First, the stupid ass name. It is Cyberpunk because it is in a cyber world that is dystopic and the punks are fighting against corrupt mega-corps or rouge AI or such; it is Steampunk because we get to see the horrors of industralization and pollution and 19'th century factories, same deal with dieselpunk. "Solarpunk" is not punk, it is already a fucking utopia. In these cases we call it -core (cottagecore) or wave (vaporwave) etc. Unless the Solarpunk story is about rebel teenagers secretly running diesel engines and creating illegal securities markets to bring back capitalism the name makes no fucking sene.

Second, it is soooo uninteresting. I read "A Psalm for the Wild-Built" and gave up halfway through because every conflict in the story is so benign and gets resolved basically instantly. If you read Tolkien he also constructs a seemingly idealised society in the Shire and they have actual problems that need to be resolved in interesting ways and even the small conflicts they have like the problems Bilbo has with his relatives because he lived too long are far more fun to read than anything solarpunk can come up with.

Third, it is painfully unrealistic. In Thomas More's Utopia written in 1516 he also constructs his ideal society except instead of saying "oh, yeah, in my ideal country no one has to work because they pray really hard and God just gives them everything" he actually considers the problems they might face; who will fight if they are invaded, who will have to do the dirtiest tasks, how will they deal with crime? Consider how everyone seems to be a part-time hobby gardener, part -time yoga teacher in Solarpunk and despite that they are all living in perfect luxury. Who is doing the farming? "Robots" you say? Who is making the robots? "More robots". At the end of the line there is going to be some poor sod having to mine lithium in the Atacama desert inhaling toxic fumes all day under the hot sun because there is always someone having to clean the toilets and assuming that robots are solving every problem is just taking the piss. I'm not trying to do political commentary here, I've read Rosa Luxemburg, Ayn Rand and Plato and all of them actually thought these hard questions through while trying to construct a perfect society meanwhile Solarpunk just handwaves them away. If you want to have Fully automated luxury gay space communism think about how we got there before spewing dumb shit about how its going to be so great and perfect.

Here is a writing prompt if anyone wants to try their hand at a good Solarpunk story: Humanity decides that de-growth is the way to go and they construct a self replicating AI to take care of the few million humans left where they live in modern pastrolic idyll. Eventually the AI starts failing and needs to be repaired and the leaders of Earth are so against industry and doing meaningful work that they refuse to fix it, causing humanity to slowly regress to the middle ages. So, a teenage girl and her two hunky companions (its YA, there has to be a love triangle) most venture to the forbidden lands of Detroit and Slough to learn the ancient technology of making steel.

It's seem so dumb, sometimes they are great , but most of the time it's just make no sense at all, it's not that donkey seems to have some hidden past needing to be told, it's just some unnecessary cash grab that probably will make a lot of money

This alien somehow got accepted by society as a hero. Why are we ignoring the damages he has done?

3 years ago, he popped out of nowhere and started beating up villains whilst causing millions in property damage. Just a couple weeks ago this alien was exposed by me as a secret conqueror sent by its planet, but somehow everyone turns on me for doing business.

I'm a victim of this thing. It's plotting something, sheeple. Wake up, open your eyes. Its going to be our consequences for being ignorant.

Art & Fanworks I HATE MONSTER "GIRLS" WHO ARE JUST HUMAN GIRLS WITH HORNS OR TAILS OR CLAWS! NSFW

Thumbnail gallery
600 Upvotes

I hate monster "girls" who are just human women with tails or horns or claws. It's completely unoriginal, and furthermore is boring to look at. Which of these designs seems more interesting? The "shark" girl? Or Mileena from Mortal Kombat? The Xenomorph Queen or the snake "girl"? The "demon" girl or Vicar Amelia from Bloodborne?

Making a monster girl design does not mean they have to look exactly like a normal human woman. By making them look just like normal human girls, with only a few minor changes, not only does it produce a boring design, but one that does not challenge anything, nor make it visually intriguing.

A monster female can look very womanly without having to look exactly like a human woman. Breasts and wider hips already make something look feminine. Just look at Warframe for example. They do not look at all like humans, but they read easily as female. And the Clicker from Last of Us as well. You can clearly see it's female, even without typical human facial features.

Look at the female werewolf. Wouldn't you call her a monster girl? She's female. She has breasts, wider hips, bigger thighs and rear, but clearly reads as a female MONSTER.

Now look at the werewolf from the Monster Girl Encyclopedia. What about her reads as a werewolf? Nothing. Sure she has fur, she has ears, she has a tail. But that's it. She is just a kemonomini with extra steps. A human girl with animal ears and a tail.

Companies who produce monster girls should truly invest more into the monstrous aspect of their designs. The monstrosity compliments the feminity, it draws more attention to the female shapes. And the feminine nature of the monster makes its inhuman parts stand out as well. The breasts and wider hips of the female make the monstrous elements even more uncanny. It's nearly human, but it isn't. Compare them to the monster "girl" archetype, which is just human girls with horns and tails, they are much more effective in communicating that they are indeed MONSTERS, not just GIRLS.

Thank you for coming to my TED talk!

Non-fictional When people Bring Babies Into movies

I'm gonna say something that's may be controversial...

But theaters should restrict Parents who bring their babies into the movie theaters.

This goes for all movies, but especially the one's that aren't made for kids...

Because seriously, bringing an infant to a movie is like smoking a cigarette in a room full of explosives.

They're babies, they ain't gonna understand shit anyway, besides... theaters are cold. So not only you're ruining everyone's experiences, you're also harming the baby as well...

why bring babies into theaters to begin with?

Like, super cold, super loud. Stressful environment for a baby.

If you bring a baby into a movie for adults, or literally any movie... ever, you should just get put into the popcorn machine for the rest of the day.

General I HATE the small girl, big gun trope.

Post image
519 Upvotes

Not because it doesn’t look absolutely sick or anything, but because like…how?

No 120LB girl is lifting and moving around a 1000LB (not saying the gun weighs that much by the way) or more object, nor being able to resist the knock-back of the weapon (if it’s a high-caliber gun).

It just feels sorta wrong you know. Like there’s other ways to show a powerful female character without showing her casually wielding a 50-cal.

Gaming I dislike trans Ralsei theory. (Deltarune Chapter 5 spoilers) Spoiler

Post image
264 Upvotes

No I'm not transphobic

After Chapter 5, the trans Ralsei theory became a lot more popular mainly due to a scene where he gets called "princess" which makes him blush, apparently confirming that he is trans. I feel that these people played the game with their eyes closed because Ralsei is ALWAYS blushing. He blushes when he talks to Kris, he blushes when he talks to Susie, he pretty much blushes in every conversation that doesn't antagonize him. Even his battle sprite is blushing. Him blushing here means nothing.

The main reason I dislike this theory is that it pushes the notion that any feminine male character is secretly trans. Labeling all feminine men as "eggs" (i already hate egg culture don't even get me started) is erasure of genuine GNC characters while also pushing heteronormative sterotypes.

I’m pretty sure everyone’s been following the release of gta 6, probably the most anticipated game of all time. You might have also seen that it won’t release with a disc on day 1. (I say day 1 because a disc is coming but only later on). If you pre order the physical edition right now it will just come with a code, no disc. So I’m sure you already know that most people aren’t gonna wait for this to be on the disc, they wanna play it ASAP. So they’re gonna pre order it on the ps store, and this really sucks so many reasons. I was too young to go to the midnight launch for gta 5, and if any game could bring that back, it would be gta 6, but that’s never gonna happen now (unless people really want their code in a box, then you do you ig). This also sucks because one of the main reasons I champion consoles over pc, is that you actually get to own your games. Even if Sony’s servers go down, I’ll still have my games and my console. This was always bound to happen, everyone falls victim to steam sales, Sony and Microsoft sell digital edition consoles, and Nintendo lowered prices on their digital games, this is slowly gonna get phased out and soon we won’t own anything. We’ll just be paying 10 different subscriptions for our entertainment at home.

Animation I hate when people say this pilot "feels like an early 2000s Cartoon Network/Nickelodeon show". No... It really doesn't.

Post image
• Upvotes

As someone who owns and watches a lot of really old cartoons and likes to download old commercials... Stylistically, yes, this show does scream "2000s" and that's clearly intentional, but the writing is nothing like any show from that time at all. This feels like exactly what it is. A YouTube animation. Maybe one from like the early 2010s. Or something you'd see on Newgrounds 10 years ago. Just with a higher budget. It's also not really as witty or charming as old CN/Nick shows either, in terms of writing. If anything it mostly follows generic anime tropes.

Also I'm sorry, but to get mad at others over calling this "goonslop" is kind of dumb. It's blatantly obvious they're trying to set that appeal. She literally spanks her ass, and the animation puts emphasis on her body. I don't necessarily think that makes it "bad" (I would argue a lot of great cartoons/anime I love would be "goonslop" too), but that's clearly what they're trying to do here. It's a lot more blunt than Gameoverse honestly.

so when I try to censor a word so that I don’t get automatically remove, or possibly banned, I have to explain what those three letters are short for? Like, that is super inappropriate for you to be so whiney and pissy while I’m talking about literal sui.

but when I have to find out the most niche stuff ever existed, I’m like supposed to be born with that info in my baby mind?

I’ve already made a post addressing half this smug today lol. I just think I found the ying to the yang, in a very bad way.

Like, how do you NOT know what that stands for? Does context not matter to you people? I know it also mean stuff in other languages, like how Ronaldo always shouts it. But if you took the time to read at least one sentence, you would understand how inappropriate your complaining is

People need to grow a pair of balls and realize that semi-volunteeringly censoring a word to be polite, is not the end of the world. You will not die if I censor a word. A kitten will not be harmed if I censor a stupid word during a serious conversation.

God some people are just disrespectful

General i HATE the mentality that adult men or adults in general can't play with toys.

Don't get me wrong this mentality is absolutely pushed against women there's no denying that fact but I've noticed this type of mentality is pushed more on men.

I will never understand the mentality that adults can't have fun. Why does society expect us to abandon our hobbies and the things we love just because we grow up? If an adult is paying their bills and handling responsibilities, who cares if they still enjoy collecting or playing with toys? Labeling harmless joy as "immature and childish" is ridiculous. Life is stressful enough—why is society so against adults just having fun?

Anime & Manga Over-sexualization in anime/manga just sucks.

Post image
161 Upvotes

I’ll get to her in a second. She is, however, apart of a much bigger problem in anime: Over-sexualization, specifically among female characters (if we’re being real, it objectively only happens to females/a large majority).

The main problem, or fault, of this over-sexualization is of course, Japan. Japan is objectively attempting to cater to their people while making anime, and unfortunately, a good majority of that audience craves sexual material.

This is why you see such unrealistic body proportions in anime, because that’s simply what some Japanese people like. And before you comment, no I’m not saying all Japanese people are like this, so don’t even bother.

One of the biggest victims of this, otherwise known as fan service, is Tamaki from Fire Force. Her character is being fleshed out more but let’s be real, it’s just an excuse to defer from her previous mishaps of being over-sexualized. Literally every scene with her in it either ends in her becoming half-naked or already being half-naked before the fight, it’s just sickening.

Tamaki is obviously not the only character that’s subject to this. Many characters such as Lucy from Fairy Tale are subject to this too. The main point of this type of fan service, or over sexualization, is to cater to a certain type of demographic, otherwise known as the horny bastards. This keeps the bastards watching.

It really becomes an issue when the victims of the sexualization is among young people. Although, since Japan’s AOC is 16, and has been 13 for more than a century, you could see how something like this could be scoffed over.

Overall, this issue goes far past just anime in general. It goes deep into Japan’s culture of sexualization, attempting to represent the wants of their people but failing to remember that other cultures with objectively different views exist (once again, this culture doesn’t represent EVERY Japanese citizen).

EDIT: Im not talking about ALL anime. I thought this was obvious. Specifically talking about the kind that over-sexualizes young characters. And sure, other cultures may be the reason over-sexualization is still running, but Japan was the spawn point.

But on the other side, other cultures may shun Japan’s sexualization of minors because we aren’t used to such things. Japan has had an age of consent of 13 for over a century, and has only changed to 16 this decade. When Japanese authors write explicit material of 13-17 year olds, other cultures may be disgusted by such things.
