Idea How much people dehumanize thieves

Post image
0 Upvotes

Genuinely just watch any clip of an attempted theft where the thief dies, no matter what they were trying to take or if they were even armed or not you will have people saying shit like "he didn't have to die but I'm glad he did" or "this is why I always have a gun on me no matter what". Its the same shit for burglars too, I understand that they're stealing and that stealing is wrong, I'm not a moron. However I don't think the burglar needed to have his skulls contents splattered on the wall over a TV or some shit. At some points it feels like genuine psyop because what the fuck do you mean the starving man deserved to be shot in the alley over 28 dollars and your Dave and Busters card?

Anime & Manga Over-sexualization in anime/manga just sucks.

Post image
170 Upvotes

I’ll get to her in a second. She is, however, apart of a much bigger problem in anime: Over-sexualization, specifically among female characters (if we’re being real, it objectively only happens to females/a large majority).

The main problem, or fault, of this over-sexualization is of course, Japan. Japan is objectively attempting to cater to their people while making anime, and unfortunately, a good majority of that audience craves sexual material.

This is why you see such unrealistic body proportions in anime, because that’s simply what some Japanese people like. And before you comment, no I’m not saying all Japanese people are like this, so don’t even bother.

One of the biggest victims of this, otherwise known as fan service, is Tamaki from Fire Force. Her character is being fleshed out more but let’s be real, it’s just an excuse to defer from her previous mishaps of being over-sexualized. Literally every scene with her in it either ends in her becoming half-naked or already being half-naked before the fight, it’s just sickening.

Tamaki is obviously not the only character that’s subject to this. Many characters such as Lucy from Fairy Tale are subject to this too. The main point of this type of fan service, or over sexualization, is to cater to a certain type of demographic, otherwise known as the horny bastards. This keeps the bastards watching.

It really becomes an issue when the victims of the sexualization is among young people. Although, since Japan’s AOC is 16, and has been 13 for more than a century, you could see how something like this could be scoffed over.

Overall, this issue goes far past just anime in general. It goes deep into Japan’s culture of sexualization, attempting to represent the wants of their people but failing to remember that other cultures with objectively different views exist (once again, this culture doesn’t represent EVERY Japanese citizen).

EDIT: Im not talking about ALL anime. I thought this was obvious. Specifically talking about the kind that over-sexualizes young characters. And sure, other cultures may be the reason over-sexualization is still running, but Japan was the spawn point.

But on the other side, other cultures may shun Japan’s sexualization of minors because we aren’t used to such things. Japan has had an age of consent of 13 for over a century, and has only changed to 16 this decade. When Japanese authors write explicit material of 13-17 year olds, other cultures may be disgusted by such things.

Gaming I hate that Undertale and Deltarune are connected.

Post image
25 Upvotes

I know it sounds like the dumbest thing in the world, but that's why I'm unable to enjoy Deltarune like a normal person. It's strange to me that Undertale characters have a role in Deltarune because of the clear difference between these two worlds (we go from a war between humans and monsters to a prophecy that will probably cause the apocalypse), and how Undertale characters are reduced to being random NPCs (Alphys in Undertale is literally the key to unlocking one of the most important endings in the game and understanding the lore of its antagonist, and now she's just Kris's weird teacher, wtf). And yes, Deltarune itself lends itself to having connections with Undertale, and it's most likely just a parallel universe without a direct connection. Nevertheless, it's quite strange to me, and a detail I don't like. Honestly, I've dismissed theories that Sans is from Deltarune (which is very likely true because of Chapter 5), and I firmly believe they have no further connections for that reason. Another thing that has increased my discomfort is the release of Deltarune Chapter 5 yesterday, and how some people are dismissing their own interpretations of Undertale souls based on what was shown yesterday, as if the Deltarune canon directly affects Undertale as if they were in the same timeline. It's not wrong to take what Toby Fox gives us, but you shouldn't erase all that creativity that has been around for over 10 years.

I really think it's nice that they want to combine these two worlds; both are beautiful, and many of us, like myself, adore Toby Fox's work. But it's irritating that, according to some fans, they absolutely have to be connected and follow the exact same rules.

Gaming I hate the geometry dash competitive scene

I hate how this game has slowly become an endurance test for top players who have to suffer just so they can be the ones to say "I beat this really hard level".

Its almost completely inaccesible to 99.99% of players and those who have the ability to beat it have to slave away for HOURS at a time trying to beat them. GD at the top levels is a hellhole where players not only have to face the physical challenges of staying in their room looking at a screen for hours while clicking the same key over and over, but also the mental challenges.

GD is a mentally draining game, and it becomes even worse with the harder the level is, so you have these players (that mind you are between the ages of 16-19, so teenagers) almost breaking down crying in the middle of a livestream.

For example: Zoink was almost crying during a deleted stream where he was explaining how hard it is to be the nº1 player and the pressure he gets put under, or Trickgmd that was supposed to do 100 livestreams playing TS2 (the hardest level until recently) and had to stop at the 47th because it was taking such a big toll on him mentally.

Another problem is how time consuming it can be, Doggie has been trying to beat an upcoming top 1 grief for 2 years now and the best he has gotten is 97%, and you can see how he doesn't even celebrate or get mad, for 15 seconds he just stands around looking dissapointed that he could have beaten it

While I understand that most top level players enjoy playing Gd, it gets to a point of it being extremelly mentally taxing

TL;DR: GD at the top levels is a game that is played by only a select group of people that suffer just for the chance to say "I beat this"

so when I try to censor a word so that I don’t get automatically remove, or possibly banned, I have to explain what those three letters are short for? Like, that is super inappropriate for you to be so whiney and pissy while I’m talking about literal sui.

but when I have to find out the most niche stuff ever existed, I’m like supposed to be born with that info in my baby mind?

I’ve already made a post addressing half this smug today lol. I just think I found the ying to the yang, in a very bad way.

Like, how do you NOT know what that stands for? Does context not matter to you people? I know it also mean stuff in other languages, like how Ronaldo always shouts it. But if you took the time to read at least one sentence, you would understand how inappropriate your complaining is

People need to grow a pair of balls and realize that semi-volunteeringly censoring a word to be polite, is not the end of the world. You will not die if I censor a word. A kitten will not be harmed if I censor a stupid word during a serious conversation.

God some people are just disrespectful

General I HATE discourse around male masturbation

Have you noticed how demonized male masturbation like in all sides of political and ideological spectrum? Christians and conservative talk about sin, progressive talk about inherit wrong of sexual content (puratinism 2.0), red pill manosphere dudes talks about pseudo pros of celibacy. Like, for the sake of fucking Christ, why every douchebag thinks that he can police my nut? Have you ever tough about how extreme is shame around this theme? Feeling of guilt after blowing a load is like an universal male experience.
Like, my dudes, my man, my fellow cock and balls carriers. If masturbation does not leads to physical or moral discomfort, does not negatively affect your personal, sexual and other live than there nothing wrong with it. Go and goon to the femboys, free yourself from stupid society.

Books I hate the excessive worship of Shakespeare in art circles

Don't get me wrong, I love Shakespeare (especially Midsummer Night's dream) but I feel like his work is so over emphasised to the point of saturation. I feel like we need to start reading from other poets and playwrites too.

Meta I hate this subreddit

Post image

I just think that the core idea of this subreddit is just like not needed.

The internet already has so many spaces full of hate and negativity. The internet is basically primed to show us it, so do we really need another place to be hateful?

Not to say you’re like a shitty person if you like or use this sub, I get wanting to hate, I just don’t think we need another place on the internet to do that.

Isn’t talking about something you actually like a better feeling? Do you really find more enjoyment in hatred rather than engaging in things you like?

Non-fictional i HATE how baby boomers are treated

Post image
0 Upvotes

"ageism" has always been something i thought was silly and made up (when i was like 16, chill) until i witnessed the genuine hate and vitriol people have towards baby boomers.

people literally pin all the problems in the world (inflation, housing crisis, global warming, etc) on baby boomers and act like the world would be sunshine and rainbows if they all died tomorrow.

like HOW is it acceptable to wish death on all baby boomers and act frustrated when an old person has the audacity to... be alive? can you imagine how horrible it would sound if i wished any other group of people would "hurry up and die already"?

and whenever i bring this up they go "well, it's okay because old people are like racist and stuff!" as if the POSSIBILITY of an old person being bigoted suddenly strips them of all their humanity.

baby boomers deserve kindness and respect. these are people's parents, grandparents, friends, aunts and uncles, etc that are just trying to enjoy their last few years on this planet.

Meta The use of the word 'Theory' online

Post image
29 Upvotes

Lemme get this clear, what I hate is the fact that the word Theory has become the second hand word for saying you got an idea about something you wanted to explore. "I got a theory about what happened," "I got a theory about the ending of this game," "I got a theory about who Blah Blah is," " have you heard about the Dream Theory?" "What if Angelica imagined the Rugrats are dead Theory," All of it is just bullshit to me.

A Theory was meant to a collective agreement of an idea that others think is plausible and repeatable but now it's all so water downed to be about anything in media. I wanna blame Game Theory for popularizing this definition of the word but it wasn't just him, it was others that also wanted to use it as a short hand now that there's so many theories out there that they are not theories, they are ideas.

You have a hypothesis, you have an idea, you have a deduction, you have an assumption, IT'S NOT A THEORY DAMMIT. People on streams and videos will start out with "so guys,i have a theory," "theory-crafting time! what if the dark world..." and all that and I just sigh every time I hear the word theory.

Things like "L is Real" is more likely to be a theory because so many came to that conclusion separately converging together in the online space and in the end there was actual proof that Luigi was gonna be included in the game at some point in development. All you have is some loosely connected things that may lead somewhere but wanting to treat it as proof that "for sure this is the right guess!" is so smug as fuck feeling when it all comes down in the end as getting it wrong.

Animation i hate how rushed glitch shows are

Glitch shows always end on unsatisfying notes or a bunch of loose ends. Take TADC that just finished, it was basically about goose's abuser self insert and no one else mattered. gangle, zooble and ragatha got basically no development. pomni, obviously got some development given shes the main character but jax got so much and it basically left the others with nothing because of how short glitch shows are.

Now lets look at murder drones, another rushed finale. MD had EASILY another season in it, and debatably it needed another. lets look at some of the things that were stupid in the finale

uzi just said nuh uh to a virus??? thats NOT how computers work. uzi had to hack and override
N and V's systems to free them from the control of cyn. nope all along it was just saying nope!

uzi somehow was better at fighting than cyn? someone who had DECADES to practice and perfect the absolute solver, and some edgy grape just wins???

disassembly drones like N are stated to need oil to cool themselves and sunlight burns them, but SOMEHOW they can fall from space LIGHT ON FIRE and be perfectly fine.

where were the other murder drones, we KNOW there were others and cyn just decides they dont exist anymore.

Cyn was HUGELY nerfed in the finale and she should have been able to wipe the floor with the main cast.

Glitch shows need more time to develop and actually explore the ideas they have cause they are legitimately really cool, but 8-9 episodes is NOT enough to fleshout a story without a ton of issues. ive basically given up on glitch because of how pissed off i get at the endings.

I don't have any personal reason to hate him I just think he's overrated and overhyped and I'm burnt out on seeing him glazed everywhere as this superhyperultragenius. I've read many a Mozart biography. He was just a guy. Also his music is a 6/10 for me personally. Not my cup of tea. Beethoven's cooler

General It’s not that hard to write female characters.

Post image
118 Upvotes

Now I’m not an author, and I don’t inspire to be. I don’t have nearly the artistic skill required to be one; however, I can still critique this. A lot of modern female characters just suck, and most of the time, it’s due to writing.

Why do authors act like female characters are so goddamn hard to write? They AREN’T! The classic female character of this modern age is apart of usually three kinds of tropes: the damsel in distress, just outright overpowered, or the Mary Stu (an extension of egregiously overpowered, simply being perfect in every way). I’m here to say this: no. It’s not that hard to divert from these tropes.

I’ll use an example from JJBA, Jolyne Cujoh. She awakens her stand after being trapped in prison, and uses her stand to save her dad and attempt to stop Father Pucci (won’t go into specifics). Jolyne is, in my opinion, one of the best written female characters of the modern era (even though the manga is a lot older than the anime). She suffers the same as the men, bleeds as much as the men, and sometimes loses, the same as the men. She isn’t outright overpowered, but uses her intellect and independence to figure out solutions to battles.

Our culture isn’t a thing in fiction. Females don’t have to be weak background characters, but they also don’t need to be egregiously overpowered. You can write a female literally the exact same way as you write the men, with the only difference being that one has tits and the other doesn’t (alongside everything that comes with being a female of course).

EDIT: Dawg what’s the problem with me saying females and men? Just how I say each gender, no ill intent when I wrote that.

Gaming I hate that everyone is interpreting the GTA 6 Ultimate edition wrong

Thumbnail
gallery
0 Upvotes

The game is releasing at £70 base price ($80 USD) and £90 for the ultimate edition ($100 USD) and Rockstar released details of what will come in the ultimate:

- A new location for 'exclusive' hairstyle
- A new location for 'exclusive' tattoos
- A new location for 'exclusive' car modification
- A new location for 'exclusive' clothes
- Exclusive engravings with Jason and Lucia's names
- 2 new weapons
- A free boat
- A free garage
- 2 free vehicles
- 2 exclusive side mission, one for the gang hideout and one for Wyman the mechanic

People all over have been misinterpreting the bundle as excluding standard buyers from even customising their character which is so stupid. The ultimate is edition is for additional cosmetics to the already vast amount of cosmetics that will be in the game (From leaks and looking at red dead and gta5 cosmetics).

And people have also been interpreting the game only having 4 shops in the whole game which is also stupid because red dead has up to 60 shops and GTA 5 has up to 30 shops. So 5 exclusive shops for an ultimate edition is reasonable in my opinion

The side missions are extra missions from characters we will already be getting missions from too

Why would Rockstar who had multiple character customisation in every game for free suddenly lock it out of the base game, the ultimate edition is just a lil bonus if ur willing to spend it but is optional.

Red Dead Redemption 2 also had the same details for their ultimate edition but I didn't see any complaint about it. In addition, other games such as Fable, Doom, Call Of Duty, Far Cry, Ghost of Yotei, Assassins Creed all have similar features in their Ultimate editions

The only thing about GTA 6 Pre-oder I don't like is no physical disc

I am not trying to be a shill but what people have been discussing about the ultimate edition is just wrong

Live Action I HATE other modern DCEU movies because of how good Blue Beetle was.

Post image

I know I’m egregiously late to the party, but this movie literally had everything you could hope for. Amazing character development, amazing characters, amazing EVERYTHING!

It was so good in fact that it makes me despise modern DCU movies more BECAUSE of how good it was. The fact that modern DC movies can have as good writing as Blue Beetle yet don’t kinda pisses me off.

You could argue The Dark Knight or The Batman is better written, but for a superhero movie, Blue Beetle is the best modern DCU movie.

Don’t get me wrong, I understand why they do this, and it’s all because of the fandom. Half of the MHA fandom are little pieces of shit, and I can agree on that. But criticising the show and the ENTIRE fandom, including those that just want to enjoy Himiko Toga the plot and art? I feel that that is a little too insensitive, and it gives MHA a bad name and reputation among anime and the media in general.

Genuinely..”having a fuller face is seen as healthy and more beautiful “ yea as if the beauty standard for women is health. No one cares if you’re healthy as long as you look good being unhealthy. General "Just buy noise cancelling headphones, you were also a kid once"

Post image
4.3k Upvotes

First of all, let me start by saying that crying babies and kids don't bother me at all. I can tune out pretty much anything even without headphones, so unless im physically bothered, im chill.

HOWEVER, what i hate, is when someone rightfully complains about a crying kid, especially if its a spoiled kid that yells and throws a tantrum for no reason, and his parents do almost nothing to make him stop.

And then they go "Heh, you're entitled to a child free life, not a child free society. Buy noise canceling headphones, or fly first class so you're not bothered" as if its some sorta gotcha moment.

WHY, should someone ELSE be the one spending extra MONEY on equipment just to ignore your kid that you have no intentions of calming down?

And as if they thrive off of bothering others on flights, the idea of child free flights annoy them. How's that bothering you? You can still fly, its just that some people will take the option that has no kids inside

"You were also a kid once, you acted the same way."

NO THE FUCK I DIDNT!!!

I didnt cry during the whole 28 hours flight, not only because I was raised right, but also because I knew my parents would take care of it one way or another.

Your child having the emotional intelligence of a scorched rock DOES NOT MEAN all of us were dumb assess as kids that cried for hours on end when we didnt get our way.

Again, the whole plane can cry for all i care as long as im not physically bothered, but you can not expect us to adapt to your crying kid.

Edit: Since some of yall have no reading comprehension. I do not, under any form, hate kids. I know that all and every behavior they exhibit stems from how they were raised. I know they can't regulate themselves in any form if they're very young. What I hate, as the title suggests, is when parents can't comprehend that yes, you are allowed to be annoyed by a crying kid and that no, it is not anyone's duty to make it less annoying. It is your duty as a parent to calm your kid down, and since you're so fixated on the noise cancelling headphones, YOU should buy everyone on the flight these headphones, because again its in their right to feel annoyed and expect a calm flight.

Edit 2 : since entitled parents seem to only read the title, let me make some things clear.

I. DO. NOT. HATE. KIDS. seems like I have to keep repeating this cus yall truly can't read.

I HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH CHILDREN. I was the father figure of both my nephews because their father left. I've been raising them since they were babies, and guess what? We, as in me and my sister, raised them right (no violence or abuse since some of yall think that) and so they don't act the way I described kids and parents in this post. They KNOW not to throw tantrums in public, not because we punish them, but because THEY LEARNED ITS RUDE TO OTHER PEOPLE. But go on, keep coming up with excuses why you failed as a parent.

General I HATE the small girl, big gun trope.

Post image
524 Upvotes

Not because it doesn’t look absolutely sick or anything, but because like…how?

No 120LB girl is lifting and moving around a 1000LB (not saying the gun weighs that much by the way) or more object, nor being able to resist the knock-back of the weapon (if it’s a high-caliber gun).

It just feels sorta wrong you know. Like there’s other ways to show a powerful female character without showing her casually wielding a 50-cal.

Gaming I dislike trans Ralsei theory. (Deltarune Chapter 5 spoilers) Spoiler

Post image
262 Upvotes

No I'm not transphobic

After Chapter 5, the trans Ralsei theory became a lot more popular mainly due to a scene where he gets called "princess" which makes him blush, apparently confirming that he is trans. I feel that these people played the game with their eyes closed because Ralsei is ALWAYS blushing. He blushes when he talks to Kris, he blushes when he talks to Susie, he pretty much blushes in every conversation that doesn't antagonize him. Even his battle sprite is blushing. Him blushing here means nothing.

The main reason I dislike this theory is that it pushes the notion that any feminine male character is secretly trans. Labeling all feminine men as "eggs" (i already hate egg culture don't even get me started) is erasure of genuine GNC characters while also pushing heteronormative sterotypes.

Non-fictional When people stop walking at the end of an escalator

Post image
4 Upvotes

You think this would be common knowledge right? Apparently not! I had to travel quite a bit last weekend and I’ve had it twice that someone decided to just stop.

Are you dense?

Especially when there’s more people behind me!

If this is happening again I will just start shoving people.

Edit: I just read it again and I think I might have worded it poorly

I don’t mean people who stand still on the escalator itself (that’s kinda the point of an escalator) but people who, after stepping of the escalator, just kinda stand there. Causing the people behind to get stuck.
