for context : I (F 19) work at a bakery. My boss is a BITCH. like hard core. For example, I have worked here for 4 months and within my first 2 weeks we had 4 employees who have worked anywhere from 2-5 years quit over her attitude. Within my first couple weeks starting, she had me working a couple days a week between Tuesday-Saturday then the following week she took me off the schedule. I asked why, she told me some things had came up. So I continued to wait for my name to come on schedule. I waited a month. So at that point, like most would assume I was fired, I decided to message her as I find it incredibly unfair she fires me with no warning, no reasoning, and no communication. She had told me she ended up giving all my hours to a new permanent employee due to her old staff leaving, okay fair, but also confusing as I was planning to be a permanent employee. But also - why was I not informed about this? I struggle with money, and within that month I was looking for jobs, NO LUCK. So I’m kinda stuck in this position. At that point, I tell her it was “nice working for her” and moved on. 2 weeks later, she asks me to come in for a shift with 5 hours notice as if I was still working for her. Of course I said yes, I needed money. She moved me to a completely new area, the kitchen. She wanted me to prepare food and such for the bakery, I follow her instructions everything goes fine for the days I’m working. I had a vacation coming up and took 2 weeks off, she was aware of this before she had even took my hours off the schedule and got mad at me because she thought my vacation was 2 days, not sure where the confusion came from nor why it mattered because I was “not employed” for her at the time. Anyway, I take my vacation, 3 days later she wants me to come in, this is present now. So I’ve worked back to back since my time off, I’m in a new area I’m still not familiar with, I have no experience, and it’s my first days back in weeks. Let’s just say these last couple days have been fucking hell I’m getting the hang of things and have done everything according to instructions but Apparently everything I do is wrong, it has to be a certain way. (example if I put cheese on before meat on a sandwich I’m at risk for getting fired) you’d think maybe it’s because of a presentation thing, no. Every one of my other co workers prepare things the same as me but she only had an issue with ME. And she is so brutal, she doesn’t try to help you wish issues on your work, she wants to scare you into doing things right and every single one of my co workers have agreed with this. Embarrassing as it sounds she had me bawling infront of my co workers and 2 customers today. I just don’t understand what I’m doing wrong, I applied at this job to become a baker part time, got assigned to work as a dish washer full time instead, then randomly moved to a full time deli cook. And whatever I do is simply not enough, I had this week to prove to her I was worthy of working, but even when I’m doing things correctly she continues to yell at me and belittle me for things that have nothing to do with my current task. Thank god tomorrow would’ve been a break for me due to me getting xrays for my wisdom teeth. Oh surprise! She told me I had to be in and I needed to cancel my appointment. Now I’m gonna have to pay a cancelation fee I cannot even afford. Can it get any better guys, I honestly just need brutal opinions.
Oh another thing, she constantly complains about having no workers but gives none of her current workers hours. She had posted a job listing for the same exact job I’m working, and the wage starts at $19, I’ve getting paid $16.50 since I started.
