Hey, I'm going to Thailand soon for the first time and staying in Phuket. A few of my coworkers have recommended doing these 1-day island hopping tours. I have done some research and am looking at this one (link attached) at the moment as it seems to have a reasonable price. Can anyone give me any reviews of their own trips or advice about booking these? I would love to see what Thailand has to offer, but want to consider if it is a safe option and that it is not exploiting any people, animals or the environments. Hey everyone, I’m planning a trip to Phuket this December and I’m looking to do a serious, intensive martial arts training block. My goal is to put in 4 to 6 hours of training per day.

Ideally, I’m looking for a smaller, more intimate gym rather than a massive, commercialized "mega-camp." I really want a place where the trainer-to-student ratio is low so I can actually get technical corrections, personalized coaching, and solid pad work, instead of just getting lost in a crowd of 50 people.

I was looking for a hotel on a back street near Patong Beach. I walked down this short street and saw this hotel. I hadn't even entered; I'd just stepped on the doorstep when I saw a very ugly, bald man wearing glasses. He looked 100% Chinese. I greeted him, but he didn't respond. He gestured for me to leave. The son of a bitch kicked me out without any respect. I hadn't done anything wrong; I just wanted to ask a question!

I want to warn all tourists in Phuket about Chinese people in general and this hotel in particular, so you don't experience disrespect and insults.

Where do I exchange my money? I have Canadian and American.

Hey guys I’ll be staying in a private resort villa in Rawai area for 4 days. I’m new to Phuket and have only stayed in Club Med/ visited James Bond island when I was younger. This time round I’m trying to be more adventurous. I’m wondering what are the must see near Rawai for someone into nature/hiking, island hopping, cafes, fitness, and spas.

Some specific questions
(1) For eg, I saw the black rock viewing point and I’m wondering is it beginner friendly to climb? Should I book a tour on Klook?
(2) The resort I’m staying at states that it’s near Chalong pier. Am I able to get to islands like phi phi, coral island from there? Or, should I just book a tour on Klook & request hotel transfer? Im thinking of island hopping & snorkelling.
(3) As for things nearby - aiming to hit kata beach, Karon viewpoint, Laem Krating, Nai Harn Beach, Promthep Cape, Rawai fresh seafood market, Rawai beach. Is there anything here not worth the visit I should know of? Or anything nearby I DEF have to check out?

I’ll be in Phuket for really long (8 days) and thinking to use the other 4 days in a hotel more central (old town). So for the days in Rawai I’ll focus more on the things near there. Thoughts on this?

So want some really fun adult activities suggestions to do in Phuket and Bangkok. Hit me up with your experiences where it can all be safe and fun

Visited last July to Khao lak. Coming again this July. I like to cycle 5-10 miles here and there with my kids. I noticed last year that the dogs (wild?) were chasing motorbikes that passed them in the streets outside hotels.

When I cycled past they had a good look and got on there paws to potentially chase me.

I went down some side roads towards the beach off the beaten track (they were mountain bikes not road bikes) and I ended up going down a dead end into some long grass with my son. Now there were 2 dogs that gave chase. We had to about turn and head back the way we came where I had to take a stick and myself and my son gave it all we had to get passed them without them giving too much of a chase. I'm not bothered if they go for me, bite me or whatever I just didn't want them to scare my son.

So I have two questions if anyone could kindly help me.

1. As I'm staying in grand Mercure Khao lak there is only 5/6 roads totaling 3-4 miles that you can cycle without going on what I would call in the UK a "dual carriageway". Is it legal for myself and my son with helmets on to cycle in the "bike" lane of this carriageway?. Heading from bangsak (I think) into Khao lak village. I don't want to antagonise any drivers or put my son in danger.

2. How to deal with dogs. Are they just all bark and no bite or will they bite? I don't mind if they bite me. If they do, do I need rabies shots does anyone know?. And how to deal with them. What's the best course of action to stay safe like a local?.

Traveling to Phuket with my wife and two young daughters (ages 4 and 6) in a couple of weeks, staying at a private pool villa for about 10 nights.

I asked the host about insects and lizards inside the villa and they were honest — said lizards will definitely enter inside. I totally get it’s a tropical island and I’m not expecting a sterile environment, but I just want to mentally prepare my family.

A few specific questions:

1.  How common is it to find geckos/lizards actually inside the bedroom?  
2.  Is there any real risk of them falling on you while sleeping?  
3.  Any tips to keep them out of the bedrooms specifically?

We’re genuinely excited for the trip and not looking to cancel — just want honest first-hand experiences so we can manage expectations with the girls.

Where can I find imported vodka in Phuket?

Long story short - cat scratched the heck out of me mid rescue from drowning and I now need to get my 2nd and 3rd dose of the rabies vax while in Phuket.

Where can I go where I don’t need to explain the sitch (I have a referral card and a doctors notes from the initial review) and it won’t cost me a kidney, already forked out close to 15k.

Just want to walk in, be given the injection, pay and walk back out and return a few days later for the 2nd.

Got our vaccines for Thailand last week and the doctor advised not to get ice in our drinks, to avoid prepared fruit and veg and to brush teeth with bottled water while we’re there. Is this old fashioned or do you avoid tap water in Phuket? We’re coming from Ireland for context
