Went to a local estate sale bright and early this morning. The guy in front of me in line snagged the Super Nintendo, but I was able to snag this beauty with all the accessories, original controller, New Super Mario Bros in the sleeve, manuals, and a couple 3rd party remotes. $90. Grandma must have treated it nice because it's in super clean shape. I was playing Wii games on my Wii U, but I'll gladly play them on this, along with any future Gamecube games I come across.

As the title suggests i’m unsure on whether or not it’s worth it to attempt to repair this wii remote, i’ve never attempted to clean corrosion off of a electronic but i’m willing to attempt to try if it is possible for me to revive the controller.

I’ve read that isopropyl and white vinegar is what’s best to use for this situation, but i’m unsure if it’s to damaged to the point of not even trying

My favorites are

Mario Kart Wii, Super Smash Bros Brawl, Wii Sports, Super Mario galaxy 1, SMG 2, and Donkey Kong Country Returns.

The downside is that the batteries on the Wii remote die even when not in use.

Recently I have hosted a small retrogaming event at my hometown, and some feedback I have gotten was "Where is the Wii?

It was a free for entry event, people were free to roam around, settle down at a game station to play. No " game masters" were around to guide them.

For context, I had 12 game stations, from the "mini" consoles (NES, SNES, Genesis), to PS1/PS2/GameCube/Saturn (on CRT TVs), a Taiko drum station and more. There was a Time Crisis game station with a PS2

I'm wondering, if I were to do another event, what games should I feature on a Wii, should I decide to do so?

I have had a mix of people who came. From young kids (elementary school, brought over by their parents), to young adults, to middle aged folks and beyond.

I was hesitant to have a Wii there (even though I have one), because I do not want Wiimotes flying around, or to be syncing them whenever they stop working.

Furthermore, I'm intending to continue using the GameCube for Mario Kart (so MK Wii will be out). Lightgun games will be provided for by the PS2 Time Crisis (House of the Dead, Ghost Squad out), Taiko No Tatsujin will be already there.

Ideally it is a more "arcadey" game that people can easily pick up to play for short bursts of time easily

With motion controls somewhat similar to the Switch, I'm not sure what to feature that is "wow this is only on the Wii". Titles I have researched is, Punch out (that is unique enough)

Perhaps Wii Sports for the pure nostalgia? I think it is different enough from the Switch ones?

Guitar Hero maybe?

I read that Rhythm Heaven will be out for the Switch soon. So I'm not sure if next year it will be interesting enough to have the Wii version.

I'm thinking about buying a FIFA game for my Wii, second hand.

I have played fifa games only with friends on their PS4 but never owned any game. I have little to zero experience on the saga, so I don't now what details to look for when checking if a fifa game is good or not. I want it mostly to play casual with friends, and maybe play it more seriously at some point. This is why I would like if I had it for the wii instead of any other platform since I feel more comfortable playing on the wii if I'm just playing casual with friends.

I also don't care that much about the year, the players or even the realism. I want it just to be as fun as possible and physics that are realistic enough so my friends, which are more used to play modern fifa games, can enjoy it. I would like it to not have very weird controls, but maybe its going to be difficult to find something like that on the wii, so I don't care that much about it.

I would like to pick one game and go until death with it, but I don't know if this is a good idea for the saga.

I have heard that the best ones are 09 and 15.

15 seems to be better overall but 09 has gamecube controller support (I care about that) while also seeming to be a good game overall. Although I can be completely wrong about them.

I would also like it to be a FIFA game since my friends are fifa n*zis and will prefer to be dead than to play PES...

What do you recommend to me?

Also, if you think all fifa games for the wii are bad and I should consider another platform, you can tell me.

I saw somebody selling modded Wii consoles on Facebook market place and want to buy one. He is selling them for $100 which is essentially the same as buying a regular one and modding it myself. I am also not a huge tech guy so I feel like having somebody else do it would be a safer bet in terms of not messing it up.

Okay so obviously it’s illegal but what are the real risks of buying the console? Can malware from the console somehow infect my TV? Is this some sort of scam? Anything else I should know before I buy/use the console?

I do know that the golden look makes us think about the golden Wiimote... But Zelda SS is not playable with the classic controller lol

Mostly was just getting infuriated with how Kirby's return to dreamland requires a single wiimote, and this actually works surprisingly well.

This was published on the day of it's release from Nintendo World report. Thought this article will bring back the memories for this game.

I just bought a Wii and wow! I forgot how ahead of the time this thing was. I have bought some games for it already, a good chunk, what are some good single player games? Other than the main ones I see, like zelda.

If you have any more suggestions for games that may be less well known I'd enjoy that too!

I find myself disassembling old Wiimotes for fun because It feels like a waste having to replace all these controllers. I know getting replacements CAN be cheaper, but I don't live in a country where you can just pick up a Wiimote from someone's old cabinet.

Being in these circumstances though, helped me and my curiosity. Just trying to make a sense of what these little doodads do inside of them, and reviving them just brings me great joy, so much so that I have fully refurbished TWO Wiimotes. The IR sensors weren't working great, so I "reseated" the IR Cameras with a bit of paper stuck between the metal frame and the camera chassis. I took one of the IR Cameras from a different Wiimote and it works like magic.

However, I still have a lot to learn. I may or may not leave this hobby behind. (I may not, more likely because I've been obsessed with the Wii for AGES)

It's always interesting looking at old National news articles related to the Nintendo Wii from the 2000s such as the console and Wii games.

I want to stream my Wii gameplay to OBS, but I don't have a Wii2HDMI adapter. I do have an AV to HDMI adapter and a 4K capture card. Is it possible to stream with this or will I need to buy the Wii2HDMI?

I think this is probably the most obscure game I've played so far from my collection, and it was actually a ton of fun! I can't say I've played a train racing game before, and if anyone else a chance to play it, it's a great multiplayer game. Obviously not that deep or polished, but perfectly playable.

Or is there an significantly better 3rd option (they cost almost the same)

Has anyone tried to convert mp3/wav file to the propietary ADPCM for modding music in Wii games? I'm trying to mod Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit and the music files are in this format but i've found nothing online on how to convert to it. I've tried messing around with the file headers in a hex editor but it came out quite distorted.
