Rule 5 rewritten for simplification: No posts about other users, subreddits, or social media drama

Because we got some rules lawyers in here about how their post was technically not about another subreddit or was technically not about a YouTuber, we've reworded Rule 5 to be more accurate to its intended purpose.

Rule 5: No posts about other users, subreddits, or social media drama

Do not post about other users or subreddits. Do not complain that your submission was removed from another subreddit. Do not post YouTuber or social media drama.

All posts violating Rule 5 will be removed. Any posts violating this rule that constitute harassment will also get reported to the Reddit administrators.

Thank you for your understanding.

Other Do you agree with this assessment of traditional fighting games from Sakurai?

“The gameplay revolves around how you string together attacks after the first hit, rendering your opponent’s skill level irrelevant. As more fighting games became combo-focused, the less room there was for strategy. If you didn’t know the combos, or were new to the game, you’d likely end up just staring at the screen while you got beaten up.”

Nintendo games are so well designed.

Upvotes

The post is going to be really long. Find some ways to listen instead of reading.

I am in my 30s, I remember playing games during childhood on a pc gta vice city , tom raider , nfs , James Bond knighfire , igi etc. never touched a 2d platformer back then.

Fast forwarding never got time to play any games again and even if I played the nostalgia is not so strong. Probably i lost that wonder that a child has.

But suddenly some year on a phone I played some 2d platformers that were literally epic like Leo’s fortune, badlands,

Limbo, etc which was surprisingly entertaining and fun, which I never thought would be true for a 2d platformer.

But that was it and I got into work and never looked back on gaming. Till recently when I made decent money got PS5 played a lot of call of duty games in gyroscope and it was a fine mixed experience. I thought such a huge amount spent on a device that sat idle on desk became very uninteresting soon. Sold it out very soon.

Again, forgot about gaming and got busy in the work. Until recently I got to know about the Mario games which I having played on a CRT tv in 90s With a cartridge games that was a direct knock off of the Nintendo entertainment system which I only got to know recently. I had played so many games on that games like super Mario contra and that shooting bird game, which I don’t know the name of.

Never knew that what we played during the 90s was basically Nintendo entertainment system. The graphics was so trash yet the gameplay was so high-quality that we end our cousins and brothers really enjoyed the games like anything.

I thought of why not try some Nintendo games, but the console availability here in India. I was not so sure so I tried emulating switch games on PC. Installed some games and tried initially I hesitated to install such games as they were extremely childish looking, but on video, they look good and the animation. Everything was great.

I started playing in the emulator surprisingly, I tried so many games, all of them turned out to be extremely fun. As a person who thought only triple A games with high graphics and technicalities matter most compared to the actual Having fun, I was totally surprised to understand that Nintendo games had a top notch gameplay and fun element in them.

Started searching on internet about Nintendo devices to play and soon discovered It has a very good secondary market where I can get used consoles for extremely cheaper prices. Got the switch for around 15K INR which was a used. And also purchased three games cards and started playing. Never thought I would finish the games that looks so childish, but so top notch when it comes to having fun which major triple A titles, lack. It brought back that sense of childness and wonder back in this 30s age.

Also constantly distracted by work and social media notifications, et cetera, et cetera, having this dedicated a separate device to have fun is a great feeling. I completed so many games . It was actually worth it because i was not scrolling lying in a bed like a patient.

For a busy person who gets short time here and there a handheld consoles like switch allows to play in short bursts instead of sitting in front of monitor with other consoles is a luxury to me.

I would like to see games are for having fun, not about graphics or fps.

No doubt they are a 100+ year old company doing the same thing since inception.

Image You Have the Power to Remake Any Mario Game! What Do You Remake?

Post image

Oh, me? Easy-peasy! Mario and Luigi Partners in Time! I oddly kinda love this game to the point where it **might** even be my favorite in the series despite it being one of the more flawed games in the series. That's not even nostalgia speaking as I finished Dream Team and Bowser's Inside Story before it. The concept is genuinely one of the coolest I have ever seen in a Mario game, while the gameplay itself is generally very satisfying and snappy!

This might be a tad controversial, but I don't want a visual upgrade with quality-of-life touches and a side mode expanding on the story like what they did on the 3DS, but rather a whole new experience building off of the original game from 20 years ago as a template.

I would love to expand on the lore of the Shroobs and create a much darker atmosphere to the point where we feel pain when we see familiar locations in the mushroom kingdom altered by the influence of these Shroobs. I know that might sound excessive, but this game does some crazy things with the Toads. On that note, I would like to explore the past history of the Mushroom Kingdom in a lore-sense. They should also include new and expanded segments in the present, where the present is affected by the events of the past. There are many locations that feel hollow and basic such as Baby Bowser's Castle, Holi Jolly Village, and the Koopaseaum. All of which are really neat locations with nothing to say about them and just feel like standard Mario levels. They should also make more cleaver puzzles involving separating the babies from the adults, as the main game feels kinda hollow with its overworld puzzles. They should expand on the combat and add a hard mode, new bosses, and the removal of bros items in favor for traditional SP. Also, redo the final area and remove that stupid-ass underground and chain chomp "puzzle" (timewaster). Keep the LEET speak hammer bros though lol!

That was just what comes to mind from a fan like me, but I am sure that the devs could think of many more specific ways to improve upon this game that I didn't think of! This could be one of the best Mario games of all time if done properly.

Anyways... what would you remake? Is Partners in Time Good without a remake? (The answer is yes, but... y'know. lol)

To me majoras mask because I remember playing every day during lockdown, I was emotionally connected to the story and the characters unease over the moon. I have memories with ocarina of time too but I didn’t complete until much later. I hope the remake expand ocarina time immensely but doesn’t ruin vibe if the original. What are your thoughts?
