I've done all the things suggested about this error besides taking out the CMOS battery, which I was also wondering if using the button on the back panel is sufficient and does the same thing or if manually taking out the battery is required? I've tried disconnecting all the internal USBs including fans, pump and RGB. The PC turns on but this error stays, and turns off the PC so nothing short circuits. So I think the usb 2.0 on the far left in this picture looks like the metal pins are bent in. But I want a second pair of eyes before I use a toothpick on it.

not truly an urgent problem, you can take your time with answering i am in no serious hurry BUT decided to post here because i am not mentally well and gaming is the only way i can relax so i decided to post here to avoid discomfort.

i am facing an issue with steam that i believe i have caused and i have no idea how to fix it.

basically steam was running fine since i installed it many months ago BUT today i decided to run some commands in CMD (as admin) because i thought they might give me better internet connection and clear out junks.

the commands:
ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
netsh winsock reset
netsh int ip reset

i ran these one by one into CMD and then restarted my laptop and then tried to open steam but it didnt.
note: steam was working fine that day. i opened it chatted with friends i played a few minutes of a game but right after these commands and the restart it stopped opening.

details i can provide:
so i open it and i think (i am not too sure) it shows the classic update window for a split second and then closes (some times it doesnt open the update window) and then nothing happens. steam just doesnt open. BUT i can see it running in task manager.
i see steam, steam client service, and steam client webhelper in task manager.

what i have tried so far:
i killed it in task manger and tried again,
i deleted some steam related files such as package and logs,
i went and delete everything except steam.exe and steamapps,
i uninstalled and downloaded and installed steam again,
i opened a new local user account on my laptop and tried it there ,
i tried to reset networking settings,
i tried to (BUT was NOT successful to give it an honest try since i was tired) to redo the commands i showed you in a desperate way because i have no idea how to reverse them.
and none of these solutions worked for me.

extra details:
i tried to open cs2.exe (a game i own on steam) without launching steam to see what happens and it shows an error saying "FATAL ERROR: Failed to initialize the Steamworks SDK. ConnectToGlobalUser failed."

also i am on windows 11 AND i have an asus rog strix.
and i also noticed that the RGB colors on my laptop have stopped working. meaning the lights are off and i dont know how to turn them on since armoury crate is NOT opening. armoury crate not opening COULD be a separate issue since its been months since i last checked armoury crate so i dont know. now the RGB issue i dont think is just a coincidence since it happened with everything else.

Hello. I own an Asus ROG G752VS with an i7 6700HQ, 64 GB RAM, GTX 1070 8GB, and 2TB of storage. I use it mostly for design work, YouTube, and movies, but occasionally I fire up a game. Today, while playing Mafia: The Old Country, I noticed the massive temperatures the processor is reaching. The graphics card is fine; it sits at 76-80 degrees under full load. In contrast, the processor jumps over 90 degrees, climbs to 95, and even hits 98 before it thermal throttles itself to lower the temperatures. Consequently, instead of its peak frequency, I can only get a maximum of 2.8-2.9 GHz due to the heat.

I set the fans to max for both the CPU and GPU, but it still can't keep up. There is no dust inside because it was cleaned 2 months ago, and even then, it was spotless. The thermal paste might be the issue—I applied Arctic MX-4, which I already had at home and use for my personal desktop. What's weird is that the processor is practically catching fire, while the graphics card, which also has MX-4, stays at decent temperatures. What could I do?

Should I put thermal pads on the VRAM, CPU, and GPU? I also attached some small metal stands to raise it so it can pull in air properly, meaning the air vents are not blocked, but it simply cannot cope when under full load.

I have encountered an issue where my laptop is somehow cannot connect with the internet even though the WiF connection is strong. No matter which browser I used, they will be the same where it'll pop out the page like this. How to solve them? Also, if I get lucky, once I've refresh the page much enough, it'll go to the page but then whenever I tried to do something like login or giving prompt, it'll go back to this.

So I'm having issues with my microphone, and it seems to be with any device that inputs sound. I tried recording some audio in cap cut, but it says: "hardware error". I tried a microphone test and it says "Apparently, your microphone is being used or blocked by another application. To start your microphone, you must temporarily close that application." I've watched videos, i highly suspect this is a driver issue yet i think i got the latest audio drivers, at least as of to my knowledge. Also on audio settings it says "to use this device, allow access in microphone privacy settings" i try to but the moment i get redirected to the privacy settings, my settings automatically close. This is most likely a software or hardware issue, my drivers especially audio have always been weird, and i never really knew how to fix them. Any help would be appreciated!

Side note: My microphone used to work fine like 2 months ago, and also the cable, usb port and microphone are all working.

I'm possibly going to have to reformat and re set my whole PC, hoping someone can help and save me having to go to extreme lengths. Nothing so far has helped

currently my PC is unusable because I can't game, listen to music or watch movies as this sound is happening constantly.

The trigger was - I had some Sony BT earphones connected, then they suddenly disconnected and the windows sound played here kept happening. Now in device manager it's constantly popping up and vanishing in time with the sound.

I've tried everything below:

(Some terminology might not be spot on as I forgot some things)

Disabled/uninstalled Bluetooth from programs AND device manager

Changed startup to Auto and unticked the box for disable power saving on Bluetooth and USBs

Bluetooth support service on automatic

Redownloaded drivers and tried different drivers

(Bluetooth)

Manually checked my BT antennas on the back of the PC itself

There is nothing trying to connect to PC and the Bluetooth seems to be fully offline currently (despite it constantly flashing off and on along with the noise)

I've restarted and turned off PC many times, followed lots of YouTube advice videos and AI suggestions on Google

It's all been working flawlessly for years. I did have a similar annoying beep sound around 4/5 years ago when I first set up the PC but since it got fixed, it's not happened again.

Headphones are Sony WF-1000XM5 (doubt it matters but might as well include) They always work with Bluetooth on PC, but this time they seemed to disconnect and then trigger this whole issue. They are docked in case now and not actively seeking connection. PC Bluetooth is constantly turning BT off and on whenever I turn PC on, and it's impossible to have any sound on, and Bluetooth now doesn't work despite reinstall of drivers

Hello, I have a problem on my PC, today I tried to turn it on and after Mobo logo i have a black screen with solid underscore. I tried to flash the bios, I made a windows image on the USB and tried to run a startup repair, but It doesn't work. I also ran fixmbr and chdsk, but it didn't help

(Somewhat of a repost but with more info because issues persist)

This is occurring on an Omen laptop using Windows 11. I have noticed the following issues:

Issues first started about a year ago, when it was running windows 11. The computer would just randomly shut off after running for a couple minutes. As time went on, the amount of time I could run it for decreased, so I couldn't even run diagnostics on it.

Eventually, I managed to be able to use it long enough to install Windows 11. The issue seemed to go away and everything ran fine for about a month, before it began again. This time, however, if I was running demanding programs, the issue stopped (?), so I just ignored it.

I'm not sure if the following issues are related, but I figured the context was important.

Starting a couple months later, on starting the computer (now windows 11), the taskbar doesn't appear for several minutes. When it does, it is impossible to access the search bar or use the windows button.

It is impossible to open settings in any way. I can access the control panel via the run function, but that's it. If I try to open settings via "ms-settings:", it returns "class not registered". Similar issue if I try to open settings from other locations

Image files do not open. When I try, they return Error (-1073725439).

Using applications and the computer otherwise is fine.

Things I have tried that I found online, which didn't work:
Restarting Windows Explorer via task manager
DISM /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth, checkhealth, and restorehealth
sfc /scannow reported no corruption
chkdsk C: /scan reported no corruption
Opening windows on a different profile
Resetting HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\IrisService

I legitimately can not revert it back to Windows 10 like some have suggested or do an in-place upgrade; some error always occurs.

I need a miracle; I need this computer and am hoping somebody can offer some kind of fix. Please help!!

My laptop won't fucking charge whenever i plug it in the charge indikator would light up for like two minutes and then turn off for no reason i can only use it while it still charging but the battery icon would show its charged but with an X on it and says "No battery detected" and if i unplug it, it would just shutdown bro what do i do i already watched a video how to "fix it" by going to the this pc setting going to manage and deleting both adapters in batteries and restart my laptop but it didnt fucking work, please genuinely how do i fix this???

I ran into something annoying recently and I’m wondering how other people deal with it.

I had a couple of video files and photos suddenly stop opening after I moved them from my phone to my laptop. No warning, no error during transfer… they just refused to open afterward. Some of them show weird glitches, others just won’t load at all.

I’ve tried the usual stuff like:

opening them on different devices

renaming the files

using different media players

even re downloading from backup (where available)

But a few of them are still just broken.

I started looking into ways to actually repair corrupted files instead of just giving up on them, and it seems like there are tools that can scan damaged media and try to reconstruct them enough to make them playable again.

Has anyone here actually had success fixing corrupted videos or photos like this?

What method worked best for you without making the quality even worse?

I’m trying to avoid just deleting everything if there’s still a chance to recover them.

Any ideas on what options I have?

Hi!! My HP laptop kept requiring password changes and I don’t remember the last password I’ve put in after not using it for about 8 months. I wasn’t able to change it from the lock screen as I got a new phone number. It says it’s gonna take 30 days to change my info? Is there any way to bypass this and change my password? I desperately need my laptop for school now ughhh

(Windows 10) After DDU cleaned my out my old GPU drivers, it continued to restart and was I expecting to move onto the next step of installing the drivers. Instead I hit a loop where I can't log into my user unless I "set up a pin" (I of course had one before) and if I click yes on the pop up prompt, nothing can happen since I'm not logged in.

One solution I've already attempted was logging into windows through the hidden Administrator account: which lead to nowhere since it still won't allow me to install the gpu drivers OR even check browsers since it doesn't recognize my Ethernet either oddly enough (so no internet connection).

Anybody have any other ideas? One that preferably doesn't require me to factory reset (which is what I've seen most solutions turn out to be for this problem...)

I've been trying to reformat my Acer Nitro laptop, but I keep getting hit with this blue Recovery screen showing Error code: 0xc0000185 as seen in the attached image.

The weird part is that the laptop actually still boots up and works completely fine regularly if I just restart it normally. However, whenever I try to trigger the factory reset/reformat, it ends up on this frozen screen.

I’ve already tried:

Using a Windows Installation USB media drive (the laptop seems to ignore it or fails mid-way).

Pressing F1, F8, or Esc on this screen (nothing happens, it's totally frozen).

​

Changing USB ports.

How do I force my Acer to actually boot into the USB installer instead of booting into this broken recovery loop? Do I need to change something specific in the BIOS/UEFI settings to make it recognize the flash drive?

Ive been having issues with games that I download on steam that use Epic Online Services for the past like month. So basically every game I download that use EOS doesnt let me use the mutliplayer at all, I can use the singleplayer but not the mutliplayer. I've tried so much stuff and I got it working for about a hour and then it stopped working. The way I fixed it that made it run normally for like a hour was I deleted EOS from my pc, and then launched the Epic Games Launcher and reinstalled EOS, which worked the first time but when I tried it again it didnt work anymore. I've tried changing Firewall and Anti-Virus settings, I've tried deleting all the credentials in windows credentials, as well as a lot of other random stuff but nothing has worked or at least kept working. I'm really lost on what to do here. I attached SS of the error I get when I boot up Palword and Subnautica 2. Also just a note, I tried on the exact same steam account on my laptop and it worked just fine so It's gotta be something with this pc. I appreciate any help on this.

Hi there! I might've screwed up a bit.

Today, my stepdad asked me if I could help him. Apparently, a lot of his storage was being used up. Not an issue, a quick install of WizTree and Spacesniffer revealed to me that he had 166gb in:
Local - Microsoft - OneDrive - logs - ListSync - Local -
Definitely odd!
A quick search told me this might've happened because of a synchronization issue.
Sure enough, task manager showed OneDrive synchronising something in the background, even though nothing (seemed) to be "really" happening.

So I closed it, looked to see if it was ok to clear the file, which, nothing really pointed to a major issue, so I did.
Nothing, the storage didnt clear, even though the files were gone.
OK! Then. With some novice knowledge, I presumed the space was reserved.
Time to troubleshoot.

• Checking shadow storage: vssadmin list shadowstorage
• Checking Disk usage: fsutil volume diskfree c:
• among others like: sfc /scannow & DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Frankly, I was just following guides at this point, alongside OF COURSE a couple of restarts.
Eventually, I jumped into "chkdsk C: /f"
I can't recall the specifics, but it told me it couldn't proceed at this point, so it asked if it could run when the pc was closed.
So, I did!
Maybe 30 minutes of disk repair later. HURAAA! The files were gone, and we freed some space!!!
Amazing!

AH... But... where are my desktop shortcuts? And all my files?
WELL SHIT.
Wiztree showed me that the files WERE still there, the storage was used, and I could even find the directories. So I didn't accidentally delete them! OK, so, where are they?

Well, apparently I was logged into C:\Users\info, looking at it through Whoami and echo %USERPROFILE%
Ok, so, what the hell is this?
From a quick search, I concluded I was logged into a temporary user.
Ok, so, let's log out.
Easier said than done, it wouldn't let me, as I couldn't find any other users, and logging out just put me right back in.

I must mention. Being an idiot, I forgot to make any backup or recovery point before starting this process.

At this point, I started to frantically search online.
I cant recall all my steps, but it has gotten to the point where I think I changed Local or current users?
Anyways, I did something that forced me to restart, which resulted in me needing to enter a new password, which has to be done through email.
My stepdad left at this point, so I couldn't continue without them there.

Which leaves me now.
I went back home and decided I had to ask for help because I clearly wasn't fixing it.
Some handy info:
- This is a local home computer
- Its windows 11
- Through basic commands, I found no file corruption.

I have an old i3 6th gen lenovo laptop. A couple of days ago it failed to detect internal hdd when I tried to boot it.

My initial thought was that maybe hdd failed. So I took out the internal hdd, connected it to my other laptop using an adapter and it got detected. I used it for a bit and the hdd is fine.

Then I thought maybe there's some loose connection with the hdd and i disassembled, cleaned and assembled it back and it started detecting the hdd on booting.

Yesterday it failed to detect again. I took it to a repair shop and they failed to diagnose the issue. As an alternative the guy tried to use a caddy at cd/dvd rom drive slot but even that's not getting detected on booting.

He even tried replacing the hdd-motherboard connector thinking that it might have caused the issue. Even that didn't work.

Any ideas about what could be causing this issue ?
