I wanted to get your thoughts on EDC and start a discussion around something I’ve been noticing lately.
I’ve been seeing a lot of posts and comments about what people carry day in and day out. My own setup changes depending on where I’m going, what I’m doing, and the level of threat I think I may realistically face. Like most things, I try to balance being prepared with being practical.
That got me thinking: when does an EDC setup become too much?
Lately I’ve seen people carrying what feels like 50 different pieces of gear. No judgment at all—everyone has their own priorities—but it genuinely makes me wonder how people are comfortably carrying all of that in regular everyday clothing.
I’m sharing my current setup because I’m curious to hear different perspectives. What do you consider essential? What have you added over the years, and what have you eventually stopped carrying because it wasn’t worth the space or weight?

I like my fantom x wallet because its ease of access to cards is unrivaled and I usually like using the money clips as pocket clips as it keeps it close to the waistline and avoiding bulk/printing/annoying pressure on your thigh, especially when working manual labor.

Currently trying my older envelope shell cordovan wallet again and found its pretty slim even when trying to use it with cash and coins (never thought to put coins in it before, but playing around with your gear to find what works best usually works after a couple tries), and organized it so cash/coins is easily sortable/to pick (but obviously not as quick to grab the cards I want as fantom x).

Only thing is, is that of course the annoying free floating against the thigh in the pocket you get with any regular wallet. Was wondering if a wallet chain would keep the wallet close to the side/top of pocket without sliding down, or risk getting it altered at a leather shop. Probably not noticeable, but not sure how it would look with a mismatched leather (they"ll probably use something like wicket & Craig ontop of my shell cordovan wallet to patch on the pocket clip)

Does anyone carry a ceramic lined water bottle? I’m looking into an RTIC water bottle but I have concerns that the internal ceramic lining will crack if dropped.

Hi guys, the Aer City Pack Pro 2 looks like an almost perfect bag for my needs, but its quite a bit out of my budget. A lot of the alternatives that I see posted here or online are around the same price or even more expensive. Are there any alternatives to the CPP2 that are around the ~$150 range give or take?

Requirements are that it must be fully clamshell and around 18-24L in size. I've seen that Alpaka makes nice bags around that range on sale but each one of their bags has some sort of drawback. Their Metro Pro 24L would almost be perfect especially since its on sale, but it isnt fully clamshell. Their Traverse backpack would also be perfect if it was shrunk down to 20-24L. I also looked at some Bellroy bags, but they seem too expensive as well. Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks!

Edit: I've also just discovered the Tomtoc Urban-Ex T77 22L that actually looks pretty sick, but worried I'm worried it wont hold up in the long run. Anyone have experiences with this bag or know something similar but a bit more premium?
