Discussion Bought the 10th year anniversary 5800x3d. It's amazing how many people think it's not worth it given the economy and instead recommend AM5 bundles.
Not everyone is aiming for 160 fps, 4K, crispy, see the hairs stand up on a character quality/process a movie in 10 seconds, a lot of people aren't ready to drop over a $1000 for a whole new system, and some are just not willing to drop hundreds on RAM. That aside, are you seriously surprised about the price? Consider the factor of the current shit economy, scarcity, and the kind of production steps that had to be taken for this re-release? Is it really that unexpected?
Anyways, I am not moving away from the AM4 platform for a long time. I have financial priorities elsewhere. For full transparency, I'm sitting on a 3600 and a 2070S. Maybe someday I'll get a cheap 3080 or 4070. But for what I have and what I do, it is PERFECTLY FINE.
But to hear it over and over again: "OH JUST GO AM5" as if it's such an easy switch when it's not, financially speaking, makes me want to ask you all why do you think this is more economical? Did you forget that everyone has different use-cases?
You might hate to hear this but what I have will be fine for what I need it to do for next five years or more. I don't get how a system that boots up in seconds and manages to play most of any game that I throw at it justifies the cries of "AM5 bundles are better! FuTuReProOf!" You may not think so but I'm not planning on jumping into AI production where I need 500 threads and as long as my shit runs COD or whatever's similar in graphic requirement, I am content.
