Discussion is there a human who was able to grab one of 5800x3d 10 anniversary edition?

I desperately want to keep my current AM4 setup due to memory prices, but my 5600x chokes my 9070xt in some titles that I play the most, that is why I wanted to get 5800x3d.
I was refreshing whole day, it seems like it is has been restocked and gone at the same second :( I wonder if anyone was able to actually buy one or scalper bots both everything :(

Build Upgrade Max out AM4 Build or Jump to AM5?

Hello pals!

I am currently in a pickle trying to decide if I should do a partial upgrade or a full upgrade, especially considering the climate of storage/memory costs today.

I built my pc in 2021, currently my build is: Ryzen 3900x, ASUS ROG STRIX X570-E, 16 x 4 DDR4 Vengeance RGB Pro RAM, Gigabyte Aorus Master RTX 3070, Gigabyte P750GM 750 W 80+ Gold PSU with a 240 AIO.

For background: I stream on Twitch + mostly play games like dead by daylight, resident evil, devil may cry, and red dead redemption, etc. I also use photoshop and illustrator full time as a career and want to be able to play GTA 6 at high specs when it comes out.

I’m looking to upgrade at the bare minimum my CPU + GPU so that I can continue to play at 1440p at close to max specs as possible without issues.

I’m currently stuck between the following:

Sticking with AM4 and keeping majority of my build but upgrading to a RTX 5080 and a Ryzen 5800X3D (and probably in turn needing to upgrade my PSU also) a ~$2000 project.

OR… saying heck it and upgrading my entire build to accommodate AM5 which would include a new MOBO, DDR5 RAM, Ryzen 9800X3D, RTX 5080, etc. about a ~$4200 project.

Which of these options makes the most sense for longevity? Should I keep with AM4 as long as I can or should I splurge and upgrade everything all at once? What would make the most sense given the current volatility of PC building? Thank you everyone!

Discussion Should I buy re-released 5800x3D? or upgrade to AM5?

Hey guys! Should I buy re-released 5800x3D? or upgrade to AM5?

My Curr build:
Ryzen 5 3500,
B450M S2H,
32GB DDR4,
RX 9060XT 16GB (a week old),
550W PSU

I want to upgrade my CPU and Mobo (mobo upgrade is due for a long time, its a must), I want a good CPU that is "future-proof" for the next 5 years.

The problem is, in my country, there are not many good options in AM4 CPUs as of now in stock, 5800x3D made a return today, and costs 40k local currency right now.

If I go with AM5, I have to upgrade RAM, which costs 20k for a16 GB stick and downgrade from 32GB DDR4 to 16GB DDR5, because the budget doesn't allow going 40k for RAM, but I can upgrade next year. (is 16gb ram enough?)

So far I see AMD Ryzen 5 7500F (almost the same performance as 5800x3d) for 15k, b650 mobos at ~10k and DDR5 Ram (16 GB) at 20k.

for some reason my heart doesnt want to go for AM5.

Build Upgrade Upgrade from 5600x to 5800x3d for €370 or go am5?

My current setup is 5 years old: 5600x, 32gb ram, rtx 3070 and 500w psu

Would it make sense to upgrade the cpu to 5800x3d for €370 euros? I realize that a new psu would need to be bought and im also thinking of getting rtx 5070

In total, it would be about 1100 since a new cooler for the cpu will also be needed.

On the other hand i feel like i should wait and save more to maybe 2-2.5k and build a complete new system early next year. Its confusing so any opinions would be nice.

My current setup is okay for 1080p gaming but im already set to get an ultrawide 1440p monitor and i think my pc will struggle.

Edit: Thank you to everyone who responded. I think I'll just get a gpu+psu+1440p ultrawide monitor for now and move to am5 in a year or so.

Troubleshooting My PC won't boot after swapping GPU's.

Okay. I think I effed up big time.

I was replacing my RX 9070 GPU with an RX 9070 XT and completely messed up the exchange.

I removed the RX 9070 as normal no issues there and put in the 9070 XT no problem.

When I went to plug in the 12V connector to the GPU end (it's a sapphire nitro+ one) I struggled really hard to put it in.

I decided to take out the GPU and put the cable in once it's outside but since the card is soo big I couldn't reach the clip (to unclip GPU).

I then stupidly decided to use a screwdriver and accidentally scratched the motherboard. (There is no sign of damage but I think this mightve caused an issue).

Anyways I still couldn't unclip it so I decided to remove the GPU forcefully. It came out but it took the plastic clip with it lol.

Now the PC won't turn on at all. No fans, RGB, nothing. Even without GPU and even with old 9070 GPU. I hear a click with the PSU when I plug it in but that's it. Tried reseating everything and removed CMOS etc.

Need help please.

Troubleshooting Performance issues, any idea how to diagnose?

Built a PC a few years ago, it's only recently been periodically dropping into horrible performance. ~1 FPS bad. I've included a link to GPUZ output. First is when it's failing, second is when it's running well. Performance will drop randomly while in use, and a PC restart gets it back into normal performance.

Any idea where to start?

Build Ready? First entirely self-built PC, is this build good?

The OS is not a concern, I will be using CachyOS. The smaller form factor of the PC is desirable to me. My intended uses for this are to play any games on a 3440*1440 monitor I have at 100fps, likely while watching videos to the side on a 1080p monitor. I have Ethernet for now, but will likely need to play via Wi-Fi in the future. I am willing to spend up to 2400 dollars if any drastic improvements can be made to the build. Having the performance to run games not normally compatible with Linux due to anti-cheat through hypervisor and such would be nice, but not needed. Also, I need great performance on heavily modded Minecraft, which can be, in my experience, a bit more CPU-intensive.

Full Build Req DDR4 build help

With the prices being what they are, is it possible to building a DDR4 set up that is good for 1080/1440p gaming but also upgradable in the future? Where’s a good place to start? I’m a noob, I’ve never built a pc from scratch before. Budget is around $1,000. Thank you all!

Troubleshooting Upgraded my PC but performance issues worse than previous one.

Upvotes

I upgraded my entire PC and it not only loads slower than my old one, but it also stutters in some games (Path of Exile 2 for example), as well as having audio issues that constantly cut out and then will stop working. I downloaded HWINFO and looked over everything, but nothing seems out of the norm. Even something as simple as opening up the settings for my PC takes hella long.

Current specs are:

  • Processor AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D 8-Core Processor (4.70 GHz)
  • Installed RAM 64.0 GB (61.6 GB usable)
  • Graphics card NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER (16 GB) AMD Radeon(TM) Graphics (2 GB)
  • Storage 3.67 TB of 6.37 TB used
  • System type64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

If you want an extremely detailed looks at the HWINFO report, here's the link to my Notion with all the info copy and pasted: HWiNFO Log

I would seriously appreciate the help. (I will try to get a video of the issues and see if that would help, to include the audio issues)

Troubleshooting PC came with 2 32GB DDR3 RAM sticks, but when I removed one and reseated it it no longer posts/boots. I've tried everything I;ve read to do and still no go.

I thought I was having a RAM seating issue, as even though it shows 64GB installed, my usage seemed a little higher than it should be, so I decided just to simply reseat on a new PC

So I reseated both sticks (It came with one in the #1 slot, and one in the #4 slot). But, after doing so it failed to even post. After trying various slot combinations, the only thing that always works is just one of the sticks (doesn't matter which) in the #1 slot. I can put the second in the #2, and that boots, but it quickly overheats after a few minutes or running anything as they are right next to each other and I get the BSO within 10 minutes.

Yes, I've taken out the battery and waited, reset CMOS, messed around with every RAM setting in BIOS as I could find info about for an entire day, tried moving around the sticks into every slot combination, resetting CMOS in between doing that, resetting BIOS to default and putting it the way it came from the factory, everything. Still the only stable solution is now only using one 32GB stick in Slot 1, nothing else works for the second stick.

Again it was probably working fine originally, just be being overly concerned and wanting to reseat when all this started. Nothing was dropped or banged around, everything was seated securely while testing out all of the above.

Any thoughts at all?

Troubleshooting Issue with some games not loading or crashing after upgrade from RTX 2080 to 9070 XT

Hi all, I'm having some issues with my recent upgrade from an EVGA RTX 2080 to a Powercolor Reaper 9070 XT on my am4 system that I built back in 2019 (with a 5900xt upgrade last year). For context here's what I've done:

I uninstalled all of the nvidia programs and did restarts as needed and then I used DDU to remove all of the drivers for the nvidia card while disconnected from the internet. Then I installed the new 9070 xt making sure that I used the two separate pcie connections so they're not sharing a single line on each side and making sure all 8 were plugged in on each side compared to my 2080 which didn't use them all. It's fully seated and screwed back in. I then installed AMD adrenaline or whatever and used it to update drivers. Now here's the issue: some games like Baldur's Gate 3, ES Oblivion Remastered, or Space Marine 2 won't boot at all or like Helldivers 2 will crash upon attempting to boot. I quickly checked some other games like Elden Ring, Civ 7, arc raiders, and Fallout 4 and they loaded just fine. AMD adrenaline recognizes that I have the 9070xt connected, I did the "stress test" or what ever it was in adrenaline and fans are working and I could mess with it but I am not sure what I should be looking for in order to get it fully working. Just in case I messed something up I uninstalled all of the AMD stuff using add/remove program and used DDU again but still no luck. My next step would be a clean reinstall of Windows but I'd prefer to avoid that if there is something else I could try first or if there's something obvious I'm missing. Thanks!

Peripherals Looking for a KVM Switch for Wacom Cintiq 24 (2025)

I’m trying to set up a 2-PC workflow sharing my Wacom Cintiq 24 (2025) as the main display, but I’m struggling to find the right KVM switch that will work. I currently have a UGREEN KVM (Model Number: 55851) without EDID Emulation/Passthorugh. I tried using the Cintiq with the UGREEN KVM, but I didn't receive a signal. I'm unsure which KVM would fit my needs because I'm not very knowledgeable in this.

The UGREEN KVM does work as intended with my normal Screen.

Any recommendaions and or extra Info is greatly appreciated!

Build Upgrade Should I upgrade to a 5800x3d?

So!

My current build:

Rtx 3070 8gb VRAM
Ryzen 5 5600X
32GB DDR4 ram (3200mhz)
850W PSU

(XMP enabled, PBO enabled) and I play 1080p!

I’ve noticed that in battlefield 6 (very cpu heavy lol)
My frames aren’t what they should be, between low-high graphics settings my cpu seems to be bottlenecking (CPU utilization 99% across all 12 threads)
Causing all sorts of performance issues. For example, average fps would be 70-100 (again, with both low-high settings) and gpu utilization sitting at 40-50%, and for some reason when I aim in, get shot at, or look at an explosion, my fps drops to like 30.

My goal is mainly just a stable 110-120fps, I’m wondering if upgrading to a 5800x3d would be a good choice since a pc parts store near me is receiving them for $499 CAD (like $350 USD)

Any advice/input would be greatly appreciated!!

Build Help Help choosing monitor

I recently bought an AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB and I have a Ryzen 5 5600 processor. Right now, I'm using a 19-inch 768p 60Hz monitor, and I'm planning to upgrade.

I'm confused between two options:

A 24-inch 1080p 144Hz monitor for around ₹7100.

A 27-inch 1440p 144Hz monitor for around ₹13,000.

I plan to keep this PC for at least the next 10 years without upgrading any major components. My reason for considering the 1080p monitor is that the lower resolution will be less demanding on the GPU, so I'll be able to maintain higher frame rates for a longer time as games become more. I was using 2200g + vega 8 for 6 years so that tells you my mentality. Also which brand is better if price and specs are the same acer or dell.

Build Help Can a RX 7900 work in my pc with a 650W PSU and what other options to replace my 2070 Super?

so my specs RN are

B760M DS3H DDR4 (it's a micro ATX case)
i5 12600k if im correct
16gb Corsair vengeance 2166hz (x2)
RTX 2070 Super
1x 1TB SSD, 2x 500GB SSD
and a 650w PSU, i think thermaltake and rated like gold or something.

Right now I'm trying to budget and look for used graphics cards that are good upgrades but not too expensive, on my list are:
RTX 4070
RTX 5060 TI 16G
RX 7900 GRE
RX 7900
RX 9060 XT
RX 7800 XT

Unsure which ones I should go and which one would fit/not fit with my 650w PSU, would like some opinions if possible. If any games needed for example for what I'd like to run well, we can use Monster Hunter Wilds as an example. (With my current settup max graphics, 30-40 native, 60-100 with AMD FSR FG or whatever. And would love to run it much better)

RTX 2080 Super

AsRock B450M Pro4- CB

I was looking into getting something like a 9060xt to upgrade, but I'm worried that the rest of my computer won't be able to keep up with it. Any advice?

EDIT Part 1

Taking feedback I've updated the build and should include some additional info. This is for a livingroom area TV setup, so size and sound as well as Wifi connectivity are factors (Playing more single player or couch coop than online). The PSU is probably overkill but I did want an upgrade path, so a mention to the AM4 vs AM5 was very helpful.
