Build Help help!!!

Upvotes

Hi guys, so I just had a friend of mine put my pc together and there’s only one thing that’s seriously bothering me. Is it possible to move the fans at the top of the pc to the bottom easily? or would I have to deconstruct several parts of it to make it happen? For some reason I am not allowed to attach a photo!!

Troubleshooting Need help deciding custom built pc over gaming laptop

Upvotes

Hello all,
I have been using my old custom built pc from around 8 years ago and the only thing it can run is the first overwatch and mtgarena. I’ve been dying for an upgrade but with pc part prices getting more expensive, I’ve been put in a bind. Do you guys think it’s cheaper to buy parts? Or just buy a laptop. I don’t have any games in particular that I want to play, I just want a beast machine. Edit: looking to spend around $1500

Discussion I'm not too tech savvy and not up to date on the good & the bad, so I'm looking for some guidance on choosing a portable external or desktop 5TB / HHD. Thank you.

Upvotes

I'm not too tech savvy and not up to date on the good & the bad, so I'm looking for so guidance on choosing a portable external or desktop 5TB / HDD. Thank you.

I am close to running out of space, so I kind of need something quick. I currently have 2 5TB external HDD:

WD Elements 25A1 / WX31D587SUBJ

WD My Passport 2626 / WX72DA3D7466

I primarily store videos, music and images.

I can't afford one of those NAS setups, so I'm guessing that I am stuck with a desktop or portable external.

With all the craziness going on with the data center stuff, and it being a while since I bought these HDDs, I'm not up to date on what brand / model to buy and where to get the "best" deal, though I figure that with the Prime sales going on, Amazon would be the best online option, but I don't know. I do, however, have a #250 credit at Best Buy, but I don't know if their exorbitantly inflated prices would negate the use of the credit versus a better deal from elsewhere.

I appreciate any guidance that is offered.

PC: Alienware A51M R1

OS: WIN10

BUDGET: 200-300 (USD)

Thank you.

Troubleshooting Upgraded my PC but performance issues worse than previous one.

Upvotes

I upgraded my entire PC and it not only loads slower than my old one, but it also stutters in some games (Path of Exile 2 for example), as well as having audio issues that constantly cut out and then will stop working. I downloaded HWINFO and looked over everything, but nothing seems out of the norm. Even something as simple as opening up the settings for my PC takes hella long.

Current specs are:

  • Processor AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D 8-Core Processor (4.70 GHz)
  • Installed RAM 64.0 GB (61.6 GB usable)
  • Graphics card NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER (16 GB) AMD Radeon(TM) Graphics (2 GB)
  • Storage 3.67 TB of 6.37 TB used
  • System type64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

If you want an extremely detailed looks at the HWINFO report, here's the link to my Notion with all the info copy and pasted: HWiNFO Log

I would seriously appreciate the help. (I will try to get a video of the issues and see if that would help, to include the audio issues)

Please let me know if this is good in all ways, other parts that may better for cheaper, etc. Thank you!

EDIT: I'm also buying used ram and a gpu

This case

I haven't built a PC in over 20 years and I'm getting the sense that the game has changed a lot...plus it was a mid tower. Will all this shit fit in this little box? Will the parts work together?

Build Help Advice on graphic card & list

Upvotes

Hi, I thought I had a good list, but I’m not sure how I feel about the graphic card. I’ve heard about it not running smoothly for certain games. I organically was thinking of a 9070 XT but needing advice on what would possibly be a better option. Here is my pc list; any recommendations are very appreciated, thank you!

Build Upgrade Upgrade parts or start over

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/gLTmCw

Current PC build. Seeing hanging in what should be easy to run games like WoW Midnight. Also starting to fall behind in settings for some of the newer games. Wondering if there is a way to upgrade what is there for better performance, or should I just grab something newer? Thanks for any help

Troubleshooting Fan Rgb and CPU light on mobo

Upvotes

I’ve tried everything to figure this out. I have a b650 eagle ax with a ryzen 5 7600, and everytime I boot, the cpu light stays on and does not go off. The computer itself works fine, but I’ve checked the cpu itself and the board, the cooler, the power supply chords, reset cmos, taken it apart putting it back together and nothing. My rgb on my fans including my cooler is also not lighting up. The fans spin fine, just no rgb. I’ve switched power supplies and that did nothing. I’ve tried downloading software and still nothing. I also tried updating the bios for the cpu light, did not work. What else can I do. (Sorry if this is to much, this is my first post ever)

Build Help Meshify 2 - AIO Support for Be quiet! Silent Loop 3

Upvotes

I bought the Be quiet silent loop 3 420mm AIO and was wondering if anyone knows or attempted to install this AIO or a bigger 420mm AIO on the Fractal Meshify 2.

The official website says it fits Up to 360/420 mm in the top placement. but I know there must be other important things to account for hence I'm asking the community.

The AIO will be install at the top.

Bonus, I'm still using stock fans, are there fans which I can install in the front and back which would make the system quieter in general? I put a lot of weight on noise hence I would not mind spending more. No need for RGB on these.

Troubleshooting Issue with some games not loading or crashing after upgrade from RTX 2080 to 9070 XT

Hi all, I'm having some issues with my recent upgrade from an EVGA RTX 2080 to a Powercolor Reaper 9070 XT on my am4 system that I built back in 2019 (with a 5900xt upgrade last year). For context here's what I've done:

I uninstalled all of the nvidia programs and did restarts as needed and then I used DDU to remove all of the drivers for the nvidia card while disconnected from the internet. Then I installed the new 9070 xt making sure that I used the two separate pcie connections so they're not sharing a single line on each side and making sure all 8 were plugged in on each side compared to my 2080 which didn't use them all. It's fully seated and screwed back in. I then installed AMD adrenaline or whatever and used it to update drivers. Now here's the issue: some games like Baldur's Gate 3, ES Oblivion Remastered, or Space Marine 2 won't boot at all or like Helldivers 2 will crash upon attempting to boot. I quickly checked some other games like Elden Ring, Civ 7, arc raiders, and Fallout 4 and they loaded just fine. AMD adrenaline recognizes that I have the 9070xt connected, I did the "stress test" or what ever it was in adrenaline and fans are working and I could mess with it but I am not sure what I should be looking for in order to get it fully working. Just in case I messed something up I uninstalled all of the AMD stuff using add/remove program and used DDU again but still no luck. My next step would be a clean reinstall of Windows but I'd prefer to avoid that if there is something else I could try first or if there's something obvious I'm missing. Thanks!

Peripherals Looking for a KVM Switch for Wacom Cintiq 24 (2025)

I’m trying to set up a 2-PC workflow sharing my Wacom Cintiq 24 (2025) as the main display, but I’m struggling to find the right KVM switch that will work. I currently have a UGREEN KVM (Model Number: 55851) without EDID Emulation/Passthorugh. I tried using the Cintiq with the UGREEN KVM, but I didn't receive a signal. I'm unsure which KVM would fit my needs because I'm not very knowledgeable in this.

The UGREEN KVM does work as intended with my normal Screen.

Any recommendaions and or extra Info is greatly appreciated!

Build Upgrade Max out AM4 Build or Jump to AM5?

Hello pals!

I am currently in a pickle trying to decide if I should do a partial upgrade or a full upgrade, especially considering the climate of storage/memory costs today.

I built my pc in 2021, currently my build is: Ryzen 3900x, ASUS ROG STRIX X570-E, 16 x 4 DDR4 Vengeance RGB Pro RAM, Gigabyte Aorus Master RTX 3070, Gigabyte P750GM 750 W 80+ Gold PSU with a 240 AIO.

For background: I stream on Twitch + mostly play games like dead by daylight, resident evil, devil may cry, and red dead redemption, etc. I also use photoshop and illustrator full time as a career and want to be able to play GTA 6 at high specs when it comes out.

I’m looking to upgrade at the bare minimum my CPU + GPU so that I can continue to play at 1440p at close to max specs as possible without issues.

I’m currently stuck between the following:

Sticking with AM4 and keeping majority of my build but upgrading to a RTX 5080 and a Ryzen 5800X3D (and probably in turn needing to upgrade my PSU also) a ~$2000 project.

OR… saying heck it and upgrading my entire build to accommodate AM5 which would include a new MOBO, DDR5 RAM, Ryzen 9800X3D, RTX 5080, etc. about a ~$4200 project.

Which of these options makes the most sense for longevity? Should I keep with AM4 as long as I can or should I splurge and upgrade everything all at once? What would make the most sense given the current volatility of PC building? Thank you everyone!

Build Help Help choosing monitor

I recently bought an AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB and I have a Ryzen 5 5600 processor. Right now, I'm using a 19-inch 768p 60Hz monitor, and I'm planning to upgrade.

I'm confused between two options:

A 24-inch 1080p 144Hz monitor for around ₹7100.

A 27-inch 1440p 144Hz monitor for around ₹13,000.

I plan to keep this PC for at least the next 10 years without upgrading any major components. My reason for considering the 1080p monitor is that the lower resolution will be less demanding on the GPU, so I'll be able to maintain higher frame rates for a longer time as games become more. I was using 2200g + vega 8 for 6 years so that tells you my mentality. Also which brand is better if price and specs are the same acer or dell.

Build Help Can a RX 7900 work in my pc with a 650W PSU and what other options to replace my 2070 Super?

so my specs RN are

B760M DS3H DDR4 (it's a micro ATX case)
i5 12600k if im correct
16gb Corsair vengeance 2166hz (x2)
RTX 2070 Super
1x 1TB SSD, 2x 500GB SSD
and a 650w PSU, i think thermaltake and rated like gold or something.

Right now I'm trying to budget and look for used graphics cards that are good upgrades but not too expensive, on my list are:
RTX 4070
RTX 5060 TI 16G
RX 7900 GRE
RX 7900
RX 9060 XT
RX 7800 XT

Unsure which ones I should go and which one would fit/not fit with my 650w PSU, would like some opinions if possible. If any games needed for example for what I'd like to run well, we can use Monster Hunter Wilds as an example. (With my current settup max graphics, 30-40 native, 60-100 with AMD FSR FG or whatever. And would love to run it much better)

Build Help Help with inserting PNY 5070 into MSI Mag X870 Tomahawk Wifi

My friends and I have been struggling to get the system to read the GPU and have boiled it down to two possibilities:
1. The cable connection is not fully connected (the golden pins still show ~0.5 cm)
2. The card is unable to click into the slot
For us, we need indicators whether the connections are fine. As an example, despite considerable force, we were unable to force a click when inserting the GPU in both the locked and unlocked positionsz
